“Dreamers stay at paradise”

Reviewed 28 Apr 2017

We had a 3-day-perfect-stay in Sombras del Viento during Easter. Big group of people (10). The communication with the owner was extremely fluid and helpful during the reservation process. Laura, the concierge, managed every booking and taxis needed in the kindest possible way. And service at the house, incluiding cooking and clean-up, is far beyond what any hotel can offer. Thank you so much for the magic lived during those days. I will defenetly visit again sooner than later! PS - After walking down the beach at Soliman Bay, I can guarantee that by far, Sombras del Viento is the prettiest / most authentic looking one in the area. Congratulations!

“paradise”

We rented this villa for our wedding and we were not disappointed with the services offered. Quality of life in the villa is great. Each room has its own bathroom . View different rooms is beautiful. The pool is superb and the access to the beach is direct. The description corresponds to reality. Cooks meals was worthy of a 5 star restaurant . They were very caring with us , kitchen and excellent presentation and they made tasted our guests with culinary specialties from Mexico. The owner , even further, was always available and helped us in different approaches. As for Miguel and alejandra , the guards , we have nothing to complain about. They were very discreet and efficient . To move , you can take either taxi ( cheap ) or plan activities organized but you can also stay at the villa to relax and enjoy it. In short, we do not regret our choice. For our guests and also for us, we had a dream. One day we hope to return to this paradise .

“Best trip ever!”

We recently stayed at the SDV it surpassed our every expectation! We have been on many trips over our lives but have never experience such a since of peace and tranquility. Alejandra and Miguel were awesome at taking care of the grounds the house and us. The food was as good as any five start restaurant. We can not wait to book our next stay and come back to the paradise Loic has created there at Solimon bay! Many thanks and would highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a getaway that you won't want come back from!

“great relaxing stay”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2012

Had the pleasure of staying in the 2 bedroom unit. It worked out perfectly for us as the house had air conditioning and a pool and also being right on the water.. what more could we ask for. Alejandra and Miguel were great. They offered help as we had our hands full with our 4 month old. This made a huge difference is keeping things tidy and clean. They even had a crib. I'm always a fan of staying at a house vs. hotel as we don't get hit by extra charges etc. The full kitchen provides the ability to cook quick simple foods and keep the vacation on budget.

“exactly as described; a fantastic get away!”

Reviewed 19 Jan 2012

the house is exactly as described; beautifully appointed, comfortable, clean with no shortage of views from every room. the kitchen was well equipped and the chefs we hired made us delicious, authentic dishes from day one. the caretakers were gracious and available at any time yet discreet; they kept the house clean, linens fresh and the beach immaculately raked every morning. what we loved most about the house is that it felt authentic and unpretentious with all the amenities of a grander house. its not a palace or mexican hacienda but rather a grand beach house. One great feature is the 3 very separate "houses". There were 12 of us and we never felt over crowded and all managed to always find a quiet spot to relax in. If i go back with my family i'd ask for sirocco, 2 beds and bathrooms, a kitchen and living area. perfect for a small family. i would say that the bed linens were a bit rough and the pillows a tad lumpy but the beds were very comfy and the air con a blessing. We would go back tomorrow! Actually,we are already planing our next xmas break. Thank you Loic for creating this perfect get away.

“Best 10 days of the year!”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2011

We have been vacationing in the Mayan Riviera for the past 15 years and have always been loyal to akumal accomodations...until now. After a bit of pleading my husband to try something new, we booked a 10-day stay at Sombras del Viento. We have absolutely no regrets! In fact, I highly doubt we will ever stay in akumal again. After a grueling experience at the Cancun airport(2+ hours in line at customs and baggage claim), a rental car reservation that apparently didn't really exist and getting clipped for $20 at a gas station in Playa del Carmen, we were exhausted and stressed. Upon arrival at Sombras del Viento, our caretakers, Alejandra and Miguel, made us feel very welcome by greeting us at our car and escorting us through the magnificent tropical garden and into our accomodations (Siracco). After one step onto the property I felt myself relax and the stress of the day dissapate. The apartment was amazing with a perfect flow of ocean breezes circulating the interior, modern efficiencies, comfortable beds & linens and a sophisticated yet comfortable sense of decor that made us feel right at home. This is a great spot for lazy afternoons by the pool and sipping margaritas on the porch while taking in the breathtaking ocean view. Our 7-year old son couldn't be happier when he discovered the beach and pool accessories: rafts, sand buckets, snorkel gear and kayaks! He was also fond of the TV and DVD player! We were very fortunate for the opportunity to meet and visit with owners, Loic and Beatrice -- a charming couple who give true meaning to the phrase: Mi casa es su casa! They were terrific about sharing restaurant, shopping and tourist recommendations with us and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. Bottom line: great vacation spot!!!
