“This property is flawlessly maintained”
We look forward to our annual stay at 12 Deer Run. It's luxurious, spacious, well-designed for light and privacy. It's worth paying extra to have the pool heated for a few days. If we can't get the weeks we want next year, I'll be really sorry I wrote this review.
Superbly located in the Sea Pines plantation within easy biking distance of Harbour Town and walking distance to the beach, this well laid out bungalow easily sleeps 6 adults or a family of 6 - 8. Clean, spacious, one-floor layout makes for an easy vacation. Pool is very nice and we used it every day. Sea Pines plantation is in a Carolinian Forest so the renter will have to do some minor daily maintenance to keep the pool clean of falling leaves (an issue for every property with a pool in the plantation), but this was easy and quick to do with the pool scoop provided. Excellent vacation and great service from the rental company to help with our arrival and stay. Highly recommended. We traveled as a group of 5: my wife and me, our daughter and her husband, and their 7 month old baby. As a result we had all but one of our meals at the house, utilizing the spacious, bright, and very well equipped kitchen. In addition, we used the large, very clean three burner Weber BBQ for 1 lunch and 4 dinners over the course of the week - it was a real convenience and in excellent working order. The layout of the house is such that the rooms are very private and quiet - when we were in the master bedroom we did not once hear the other family members that were with us (even though one was a young baby on an unpredictable schedule), and they reported the same sense of quiet and privacy for their room. For travelers with young children this is an excellent house - a wide open layout for easy movement, but opportunities to withdraw to the quiet and privacy of one's own room as situations dictate. The owners left us some basics (dish washing liquid, dish washer pellets, napkins, clothes washer liquid etc.) in a welcome package which was most appreciated. There is no question about it - 12 Deer Run Lane is a 5-star destination.
Our vacation was awesome. The house was beautiful with many high-end appointments. Our only concern was the pool. It had to be treated 3 times due to algae in the pool. We lost 4 days of swimming due to that. So how does algae get into the pool? Even the pool man couldn't give me an honest answer. After checking it out on the internet we discovered one of the ways was due to a build-up of algae in the water lines of the pool due to the lines being too small. It stated that even after "shocking" the pool those 3 times it will test ok the following day but after that the algae begins to build up again and that is what happened. We were very disappointed in that respect. However, the house was lovely and we would definitely stay there again...but we want the pool checked out first.
“Spring Break 2011”
The layout of the house is great for entertaining and family gatherings. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio by the pool in the mornings. The location was ideal with an easy walk/bike ride to the beach, Lands End, and Harbour Town. We would definitely consider this house again for our next trip to HHI!
We thoroughly enjoyed our month-long stay at 12 Deer Run in Sea Pines. The layout of the house was great, allowing each of us to enjoy his or her own "space." We also loved the proximity to the bike path. Island Getaway responded promptly on the few occasions there was a need for repair service.
“Very Comfortable Home”
We really enjoyed the proximity of the home to Harbor Town and bike paths. The home was comfortable and use of the garage was an asset. We were surprised at the number of lights that didn'd work because the bulbs were out. The small front bedroom shower had a very painful shower spray. Both issues were solved by a repairman who was very polite and prompt. We were surprised that the home did not seem to have been used the prior week or more and yet we were put off for several hours that lasted past 4:00pm. FR
“Fantastic for a Family”
We had a fantastic week at 12 Deer Run. We hired bikes and cycled along trails to Harbour Town and South Beach both a nice 10-15 mins away So relaxing. The house is spcaicous and open plan. Really good for relaxing and living in as a family of mum, dad, andrew 15, rachel 13, hannah 5. And itwas clean and good quality. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Yet 10 mins in car and we were at the big supermarkets. We recommend and will go back. Philip, Joanne, Hannah , Rachel, Andrew Stanfield.
“Nice Island - Not so nice property”
The property was dirty and the rental compnay was very un-responsive. I have stay in Hilton Head many times and loved it but this stay was very unpleasant.
“Home away from home, but better!”
Very nice home in beautiful Sea Pines. Classy, upscale furnishings and fantastic kitchen make for a relaxing, indulgent vacation. And step out to your own private heated pool and jacuzzi tub! All this plus an easy bike ride to the beach, Harbor Town, or South Beach.
“home away from home”
This vacation home was truly a comfortable place for home-a-way from home. I like the lay out of the home, beautiful kitchen, nice open dinning area, and to have a pool was absolutely plus. The only problem was....a lot of mosquitos. I woud definately come back again.
