“Beautiful, pet friendly and comfortable home away from home.”
Lovely house. Plenty of space. Close to everything. Quiet neighborhood. Beautiful views (even on rainy days). Our family enjoyed our stay very much. It rained some days and with internet and cable tv we enjoyed watching movies, reading, cooking, and playing games. David is an excellent host. He communicated with me and answered my questions promptly which helped me make the final decision on renting his property.
Response from the owner Oops -- Spinnaker Waterfront is not Pet Friendly but there's a mix-up as guest did not stay in our vacation home in Oyster Bay. We would enjoy having these guests and many other guests without their pets anytime, as we are severely allergic! “Lovely week at Spinnaker!”
We had the nicest time there with our 1-year-old daughter. The house has a beautiful deck area on the water where you can grill. The galley-style kitchen has a pass-through to the screened in porch, which made cooking and serving meals really smooth and easy. (Plus kiddo liked playing peek-a-boo through that pass-through.) We caught crabs off of the deck one night for dinner. Spinnaker is a very relaxing place for a family vacation.
“Great vacation! Great property!”
We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay on our first trip to Chincoteague. The Spinnaker Waterfront Vacation Home is nicely situated right on a small waterway that opens into the larger Assateague Canal with a beautiful Eastern view of the water. The house is absolutely beautiful and extremely comfortable. Keyless entry (you set your own passcode) made accessing the property a breeze with no hassle keeping count of keys, etc. And if you forget linens, check out the Dollar Stores all over the place--they're like a mini-Walmart. With a screened porch that lets you enjoy the outdoors without the bugs to a nice sunroom, you can enjoy your coffee in the mornings with lots of light and sense of openess. The really nice finishing touch to the place was the welcome gifts of wine, local gourmet candy, and a gift card to the Island Creamery. All you need to add is the main course! We highly recommend the Spinnaker!
“Magical Week at Chincoteague home”
If you love wildlife and want to see them in their natural habitat, then Chincoteague Island is the place for you. We have had two wonderful stays there at Spinnaker House, the well-loved home of Pat and Harmon who share their warmth and comfortable “home away from home” with anyone wanting a magical time at Chincoteague. Spinnaker has five bedrooms and four bathrooms and a beautiful living room complete with fireplace overlooking one of the canals. We enjoyed a week of family reunion as well as individual quiet. Our days were spent at the refuge and in the evenings and mornings, we shared dinners and breakfasts at Spinnaker. The home is comfortable and homey, making it easy to relax and enjoy each other. The canal on one side and marsh on the other are home to water birds including great blue herons, mergansers, mallards, egrets and many more. And of course, there is the magic of the Chincoteague Wildlife refuge only minutes away. Spinnaker is the perfect place to stay, but book it before your wished-for vacation week is taken!!
“Wonderful and peaceful retreat”
We stayed at the Spinnaker to celebrate our birthday/anniversary. We were not disappointed. The house is a quaint and peaceful getaway. The views are absolutely gorgeous and it was difficult to pack up and leave. The owner, Pat is so easy to work with and has thought of everything! Every time we thought we forgot something we looked and there it was. They did a great job of anticipating everything you might need. Although our timing did not allow us the opportunity to take advantage of all the island has to offer - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Spinnaker and plan to return. We did take advantage of the crab traps (totally new experience for me). We were able to catch a few crabs and really enjoyed them. If you'd rather not cook, the restaurants on the island are fabulous- best seafood we ever had. Your stay at the Spinnaker will not disappoint!
“Better than advertised!”
Looked forward to a nice place for a vacation...and found the Spinnaker and it is WAY better than advertised! The pictures looked nice, and when you get there, it is much better. Plenty of room for the seven of us...to hang together or to get some alone time. Everything we needed was available at the house...actually found some things that we weren't expecting (like the grill accessories) and the quietness since there were no neighbors around...guess they went home for the summer...bad for them, really good for us! Beautiful weather the whole week!
“This home was perfect for my family.”
We were at the "spinnaker" (the nickname for the home) for pony week, 2014. The location was great, quiet with a good view of the water. We sat in the screened in porch at night and shared what our favorite thing we did that day was with the other family members. My grandson loved setting the crab traps (he was a catch and release kind of person). We grilled on the back deck which is large enough to fit my whole family. The kitchen was so well stocked we did not have to run the dishwasher before it was really full. There was no need to bring anything from home. We used every bed in the house so I can tell you that there are good mattresses and pillows here. The family room was big and we loved the bay window seating. My older teenagers made good use of the WiFi. My favorite part of the house was the dining area, with windows on three sides. I sat there, in the quiet of the early morning and watched a family of geese cross the road. My second favorite spot was the whirlpool tub. With all of us taking showers, including the outside shower, we never ran out of hot water. The house was well kept, clean and family friendly. And last, I must tell you that Pat, the owner, provided so much information in response to my questions that we did not miss out on anything the islands had to offer. She felt like an old friend.
“Amazing Vacation Getaway”
My husband and I along with our 3 young adult sons enjoyed an amazing vacation getaway this past week at Spinnaker. The home is so beautiful and the views from everywhere are breathtaking. We often had our morning coffee and breakfast on the lovely screened-in porch or sometimes the two of us stole away on the private balcony off of the master bedroom. We brought some lawn games along on the trip and had fun playing croquet, bocce, and ladder ball. We also rented two double kayaks for the week from Southeast Expeditions and the cost included drop off and pick up right at Spinnaker! Another day we rented a boat from East Side Rentals & Marina and enjoyed fishing, swimming, and the beautiful wild life all around. We brought our bikes along and enjoyed riding in the neighborhood as well as at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. We had great weather and enjoyed the beautiful beaches of the Assateague Island National Seashore. We loved grilling at the house each night, enjoying the beautiful deck and views -- our one night out included dinner at Bill's...delicious....and we were happy we made reservations! Another night out included amazing ice cream at the Island Creamery. Pat was so kind and helpful and had Mrs. B on hand to help if we needed anything while on the island. We would highly recommend this beautiful vacation retreat. Thanks for everything, Pat, and especially for making your home so welcoming!
“Great views and wonderful house”
The house is modern and well laid out. Easy to dock a small boat and fish around the island. Chincoteague is a quaint town with plenty to do during the day
“Peaceful but funfilled”
Our family had a wonderful, relaxing stay in the most comfortable home well equipped with everything you would need to make your stay complete. Crabbing and kayaking from the back deck was beyond our expectations. Would revisit again next year.
