We enjoyed the condo and the view. The only annoyance was that the bed was not made, sheets were on but no blankets or covering, much less pillows. Because we arrived on Friday after hours we couldn't call Island Getaway until Saturday. The person on the line immediately went to work and in the afternoon the maid who had taken the bed covering to wash at home because it was dirty returned it and remade the bed. So everything turned out well but we must admit after paying as much as we did for the spot it was off-putting to enter a home without everything (especially the bed) not prepared. Otherwise we had a splendid time except it was a bit cool. But I don't think Island Getaway has much control over that aspect of our vacation. Thanks for your quick response.
“Owners very thoughtful of renter's comfort.”
We have rented many units in the Palmetto Dunes Plantation over the years (since the early 1980s) and this unit is by far the most tastefully appointed unit in which we have stayed. The thoughtfulness and attention to detail of the owners is very apparent and made our stay very special. We will definitely try to rent this unit again upon our return in 2012.
“We had a wonderful time.”
We had a wonderful time in Hilton Head. Our accommodations at 405 Windsor Place were perfect. We had to leave a day early due to Hurricane Irene but the time we spent in HH were delightful and quite memorable. We will definitely be back next year and would love to stay in this same location.
“delightful experience with excellent accommodation”
all around splended experience with well keeped property and professional service together with a wonderful location made for a perfect vacation
“We felt very relaxed and enjoyed our week.”
We love the location of Windsor, and we like the beach area there. It's never too crowded. The villa was very nice. I liked the sailboat decor. The kitchen was great with the granite countertops, and the stainless steel appliances. We would have liked it if the television was a little larger, and I'm not sure the dryer was working properly. It took a very long time to dry things. The view was great, and we liked the pool. The elevator was not great. It was very, very slow and hot. The day we checked out, it was not even working at all. We had to carry all of our luggage and things down 5 flights of stairs, and worst of all, walk back up 5 flights of stairs.
“Imagine if you will”
Imagine if you will, waking up to a fresh brewed cup of coffee, reading a book, listening to the sound of the ocean breaking outside while relaxing on a lounge chair on the balcony at your villa. That's exactly what we did each morning during our stay. The villa was superb and spacious. Clean, beautifully decorated, and all the amenities you need. Videos, books and games were available to use if you liked. Two flat screen TVs with satellite/cable access. Master bedroom (King size bed) and two fold out sofas were available for use. Two bathrooms (each with a shower, sink and toilet) and one had a jacuzzi spa bathtub. Washer and dryer for use in the unit, and a fully equipped kitchen. The grounds were maintained daily. Only problem was it was a bit noisy in the morning from 8am to 10am due to the grounds crew. Pool was superb and very relaxing and cleaned daily. Two pools, one for adults and one for small children. Needed a key code to enter pool area, for safety reasons, however one gate entrance was broken. Parking at the villa was great, park indoors or out. Easy access to the beach. We had excellent weather, actually better than that. Rented fat tire bikes from Sundance Rentals ($19.00 per bike a week with coupon), played golf at George Fazio Course, walked the beach, and ate at variety of restaraunts. Recommend Black Marlin on Helmsman Way, Crane's Steakhouse on New Orleans Dr., The Sea Shack, The Oyster Factory, Hudson's by the Dock, and if you like ribs, Sticky Fingers. We had a great time and hated leaving. Back to the real world in Kentucky, but, we will be back. Hilton Head Island, Palmetto Dunes, a great Island Getaway!
“Windsor Place 2009”
This was our 6th visit to Hilton Head, always in mid March, and every time we have stayed in Palmetto Dunes, though in different properties. We love it there! Last year we were due to stay in the Windsor villas, however they were being re-furbished so we had a 2-bed suite at Hampton instead. Every rental has been a good experience, but this ranks as one of the best. The exterior property appearance and amenities ( parking, elevators, bike parking, walkways and pool area) were in great shape, although we did not venture into the pool...too cool for us! There are plenty of luggage trolleys which really made move-in and move-out a dream. The beach location suits us fine and we spent many hours biking and walking in ideal temperatures. We really appreciate the clean fresh environment and the chance to see bird life, and the lack of crowds at this time of year. The villa itself is very nicely furnished and everything worked except the 2nd disk of "Gone with the Wind" which had been well used! We are still don't know how it all turns out for Rhett and Scarlett! All kidding aside, a very nice villa, perhaps the closet with its triangle shape was a little cluttered but we do bring a lot of stuff. There was plenty of space for 2 of us, and likely for a family with one or two small kids. If you are 3 or 4 adults I'd recommend going for a 2-bedroom unit. Well worth it. We ate in-villa quite often to ensure a low-fat diet, whereas there are plenty of reasonable restaurants around to suit families or couples. We'd recommend renting a bike. Do take the time to visit Charleston and Savannah if you haven't done so, but avoid St.Patrick's day unless you like "that sort of thing!" The ambiance of Hilton head is quiet peaceful and green at this time of year and is everything we need for a truly relaxing week. Night life is limited so bring your DVDs and iPod. We brought our Bose player as well. On a slightly different note we'd like to see some on-site garbage recycling.
We have stayed in 405 Windsor Place several times and have had great vacations each time. The villa is newly decorated this year and is lovely. Everything is supplied as far as towels and linens and much of the kitchen soaps too. We enjoy the balcony overlooking the pool and beach. The newly renovated pool area is a real plus too. Great area for kids. The bike trails throughout the island are wonderful. We spend much of each day riding. We hope to return again soon.
