“Hidden Gem !!!”

Reviewed 2 May 2015

Villa San Lorenzo is a true hidden gem in the Piedmont region of Italy. We spent 4 amazing days with our 6 and 9 year old kids soaking in the culture, food and life of this incredibly bucolic region. Thanks to the warm attention of villa owners Clay and Tamar, we discovered the rich cuisine of the region and even enjoyed a special evening on the villa's patio savouring Clay's homemade gourmet pizzas made in an outdoor authentic stone-brick wood fired pizza oven. We look forward to another visit soon.

Response from the owner Thank you Bettina, it was wonderful getting to know you and the children and we are so happy that you enjoyed the pizzas cooked in our wood fired brick oven. We love sharing this incredible region and are thrilled that you had such a spectacular time. We hope to welcome you again!

“A wonderfully restored home in Piedmont makes for a gracious stay”

This lovely home boasts a private apartment with two big bedrooms and two full baths. The kitchen was large and well-equipped and looked out over the hills of the Langhe. We enjoyed out coffee on the balcony listening to the birds and our wine in the evening, watching the sunset over the hills and the sky fill with stars. The huge bathtub made for a divine soak, with the windows thrown open to the afternoon air. The beds were extremely comfortable and the wi-fi worked quite well. We found fabulous local treats on the counter and good stemware for the wines we kept buying! A great stay off the beaten path to truly absorb the peace and beauty of the region - and highly recommended property. Clay and Tamar were gracious and extremely hospitable. We'll be back to use the beautiful pool!

Response from the owner We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Villa San Lorenzo! We take a lot of pride in every detail and we are so appreciative that you enjoyed all of the amazing local treats as well as the beds and bathtub, thank you! We look forward to welcoming you again!

“Wine, Food, Friends, Culture!!!”

Meals with great friends, visits to some of the most incredible wine producers in the world, learning the ropes from amazing locals, and truffle season, who could ask for anything more? When I arrived at Villa Bonvicino I was amazed at how breathtaking the property looked. An old farmhouse and a second building that has been transformed into Italian villa feel, with all the modern amenities you could ever need. Spacious rooms to relax in, the property is beautiful and has many places to walk around. Then there is the kitchen. I cam e with a group of food and wine people and we couldn't have asked for a better place to be. There is a massive kitchen with a wood-burning rotisserie in it that we cooked a lamb in with plenty of room for 5 people to prep and cook the rest of the food. There was also a beautiful wood-burning pizza oven that we were able to make an abundance of classic pizza's...with truffles. The property manager is much, much more than someone to tend to your needs. John is a true local and the ability to have intimate tasting visits with the best winemakers and proprietors in Barolo and Barbaresco is amazing. The owner of the property and John are known in the area with top chefs, restaurateurs, and winery owners, so if you are into a true immersion of what Piemonte has to offer there is none better. There is also the look into culture. John can show you lots of small towns nearby that focus on chocolates, hazelnuts, truffles, special cattle in the area, and the most amazing eggs you will ever have in your life. This place is a getaway or a glimpse into an amazing lifestyle...Have Fun, I did!!!

“29 Villa San Lorenzo !!!”

Great Piemonte countryside getaway, beautiful views, cozy rooms. The location is excellent for great foods of the region and wine too. Or if you prefer to bring all this inside the villa there is an amazing kitchen and huge dining area as well. Can't wait to return !!

“Absolutely Fantastic”

We just had the best Italian vacation and it was in large part due to this gorgeous villa and the unbelievable hospitality of Clay and Tamar. They pointed us to the best local restaurants, wineries, markets and even made our last night very special by making pizzas from scratch in the brick over pizza. The cooking kitchen and the large living/dining space and loft allowed for many wonderful evenings spent with friends, great food and wonderful wine. Would recommend this villa for a truly memorable experience.

“Simply amazing!!!”

Our stay at villa San Lorenzo was, in one word, Amazing! The combination of great food, some of the worlds best wine and rolling hills in the backdrop of the Italian alps is ideal...the villa is secluded and private atop a hill. The views are to die for and we would recommend watching the sunset over the hills while relaxing by the pool or watching the sunrise over the Italian alps. There is plenty to do while vacationing at the villa. There are plenty of paths for hikes and runs at the same time there is easy access to the charming Piedmont villages such as alba or Borolo. The local farmers market in alba is charming and we found the most amazingly fresh produce to cook a meal back at the villa. The towns and villages also house top Michelin star restaurants and we really enjoyed our meal at the Piazza Duomo. The small local cafes and Trattorias also serve the best pasta and local food. The villa is spacious and easily accommodated 4 couples and kids with enough privacy and space for group activity and dining. It has all the amenities anyone might want from a full-scale gourmet kitchen to a large pool to space for a rowdy game of volleyball or soccer. The villa combined luxury with rustic local charm and has all the modern amenities you might wish for. The owners of the villa made the stay even more memorable. Clay and Tamar are thoughtful, friendly, and very hospitable. We have rented many vacation homes over the years but have never encountered owners like Tamar and Clay. You can rely on them to go the extra mile whether it is share some local intelligence, refer you to some private restaurants that you would have never known about, or even share a meal with you. By the time we left, we considered them our family friends. We would absolutely refer villa San Lorenzo to anyone and plan to go there ourselves again very soon.

“Magical villa in a food and wine lover's heaven”

Reviewed 22 Feb 2013

My husband and I, along with a group of foodie friends, had the good fortune to stay at Villa San Lorenzo for a week last fall. Not only were the accomodations and setting superb, both the owners and the host, John, were so helpful and generous with arranging meals and visits to wineries that aren't usually open to the public, we felt as though we got the true insider tour of the region. We're hikers and the hiking through the vineyards was to die for. We fell in love with the villa and Piemonte, and are already planning our next trip. Until now this corner of Italy has been one of the world's best kept secrets.
