Very Good

“Wow. Just wow.”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2015

I stayed here with a group of 11 other friends and co-workers for the July 4th weekend. Not only are the house and property absolutely stunning, but it's also located very close to the beach and downtown La Jolla. I'm only sad that we couldn't take more advantage of some of the house's amenities, like the grill out back! David was a great host and made sure we were well-provided for. His famous white binder had every piece of info you could hope for! I hope I can go back and spend more time at the house.

“Stunning Residence”

Reviewed 9 Mar 2015

The Wood House was the perfect accommodation for our family reunion. The kids LOVED the proximity to the beach and we LOVED being able to walk everywhere easily & let them run around the beach so their boundless energy was expended and the adults were able to have a nice quiet evening enjoying the amenities in the home. Since we are sharing cars, I was pleasantly surprised at how close the beach are to the home. The unique shower heads, whirlpool bath, tempurpedic mattresses and the "Perfect Chair" recliner specifically designed to alleviate back pain have been heavenly for our guests with chronic pain. The Apple TV and Netflix access with the large swivel arm TV has been extremely useful in entertaining the large family with all my nieces and nephews. It has also provided an easy way for us to all use our iPhones and iPads to share our family photos and movies with each other. The kitchen is large and is well stocked with any appliances needed to cook for a large family. The kitchen window has a nice ocean view which we enjoyed while cooking & loading the dishwasher. The dining and family room as well as the two front bedrooms enjoy that same ocean view. We loved the open floor plan connecting the dining room and living room area. The floor to ceiling glass in the living room looking out to the tranquil large patio gave our large family plenty of room to dine and mingle. We especially enjoyed walking up the hill to the upper deck with a view of all of La Jolla. Since I grew up in the San Diego area and our family is currently scattered across the US, this will now be our location to have reunions.

“nice place for family trip and landscaped backyard terrace”

Beutiful redwood residence !! my family reunion at San diego had become great experience due to the wonderful accomodation. David was so kind and our requests were immediately reflected. At a glance, backyard of the house was simple. However, secret terrace was placed at the end of the steps. The view of the sunset and the beach was out of sight !!

“Didn't Want to Leave”

Amazing home, fantastic location, near the Coastal Trail, which leads you into the Village of La Jolla. The owner was fantastic to deal with, the place was spotless. We had friends over and entertained them on the awesome hillside patio. Yes, we really didn't want to leave, and hope to return soon. We highly, highly recommend the Wood and Glass House.

We were three generations. Both of our sons and their families. The house was perfect for all and well equipped with paper goods and essentials. The furnishings are all first class from the 65 inch flat screen TV, the Weber gas BBQ, the terrific beds, and the upscale kitchen. The house comes with all the beach equipment, chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and towels. In order to reach the beach you must cross Torrey Pines Road. At certain times that can be intimidating, especially with small children. We solved this by loading all the gear in the cars and driving the .29 of a mile to the beach. This also made it easier with all the beach equipment. We never had a problem parking within a block of the beach access. It was also a great beach. The owner was very easy to do business with and made the stay a very nice experience. We would recommend this place to our friends.

“Lovely House”

We were a Chilean family that go to San Diego to spend our holidays and we have an amazing time there. The house was perfect for a large family or two family. The owner of the house was worried about all of our concerns and the house have everything working. It is a perfect house to spend holidays and enjoy this amazing place. The location is great, a couple of blocks from the beach and from the downtown. If i have to go back i will rent this house for sure.

The owner greeted us and walked us through everything we needed to know for a great stay. There were 9 adults in our group and all were comfortable; the mattresses were heavenly! Great location!!

“Fantastic house in the heart of La Jolla - great for families!”

Reviewed 21 Nov 2013

We had a small family reunion in this house in June of this year and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There were 7 of us, ranging in age from 10 to 79 and having 5 bedrooms on one floor was wonderful. The location in La Jolla, very close to La Jolla Village and La Jolla Cove, was very convenient. The owner, David, met us at the house on the first day to show us around and answer any questions about how things worked. He also has a notebook in the house that provides information about restaurants in the area, how to work the TV (complete with pictures of which remote is used for what), and other useful information you might need while staying in the house. The kitchen may be the best equipped kitchen we've come across in a rental house. There wasn't a single item that we needed while we were there and couldn't find, and we did eat several meals at the house. In addition to dishes and appliances, paper towels, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, garbage bags, laundry detergent, dish detergent, toilet paper are all provided generously. One of my favorite things about the house was the several patios from which to enjoy the perfect La Jolla weather, including one "upper deck" with a view to the ocean. That was my favorite place to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening or a cup of coffee in the morning. My only regret about our stay is that I didn't spend more time up there! Most of the beds have Tempurpedic mattresses, which is another nice plus of the property, especially if you are already used to this at home! There are 2 living areas - one with the big screen TV, and one that is more of a sitting area with a desk. When the kids were watching TV, the adults were able to gather in the sitting room if it was getting too chilly for the patio. There is also a desk in that room, so if you need to work while staying here, this room would be a great place to do it. The house is on Torrey Pines Blvd, which gets pretty busy during the day, so be aware of that.

Our group had a wonderful time. The house is fabulous and comfortable with all the amenities. Lots of places to visit and everything is close to the beach. I would recommend this place to anyone!

“Perfect - comfortable, spacious, great view”

Reviewed 20 Oct 2013

David's home was perfect for my reunion of 10 of my best friends. We slept well as the beds were incredibly comfortable, we cooked and barbequed using the kitchen's top notch appliances and the grill outside, watched sports on the crystal clear 64" wall-mounted flat screen, and spent several hours on (both) back patios chatting around the large table and enjoying the beautiful view of the ocean. Easy to deal and communicate with, David was a great host. I will definitely consider this place next time I need to host a large get together in southern California.
