“Couldn't have been any better!”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2014

We had such a great time. The house was clean with cozy cottage decor, and it was well stocked. The kitchen had everything!!! We loved watching the travel lift at the boat yard. We enjoyed back yard time with traditional family games as well as waddling with friendly ducks and clucking with the neighbors chickens! I would definitely come again. Great introduction to the eastern shore!!!

“Relaxing weekend stay”

Reviewed 8 Mar 2014

My husband and I spent a weekend at the Roost on Tilghman Island and it was so relaxing. We were really able to unplug and I slept better in their loft bedroom than I had in my own bed in weeks. The cottage was really sweet- it looks small on the outside but it's actually very spacious and I love how it was decorated. Everything was spotless and in good working order. We enjoyed the sun room/porch the best I think as it had a great view of the marina. We took a lot of long walks and fed the chickens that wandered into the backyard. The cottage is in a good spot on the island- right next to the draw bridge and walking distance from restaurants but in a quiet residential area. And everyone we met there was so friendly! We ventured into St. Michael's for a day and spent most of out time at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. I highly recommend you check it out. It had about 14 exhibits on the history of the Chesapeake and you could walk the grounds and just enjoy yourself by the bay. We didn't want to leave, but the cottage is such a short drive from DC that my husband and I are planning on bringing some friends back with us soon. Hopefully then it will be warm enough to kayak around the island!

“We loved it!”

Reviewed 11 Dec 2013

We had a great (albeit too short!) family getaway at the Roost! The cottage is extremely clean, comfortable, well-maintained, and spacious. The kids (ages 6 and 20 months) loved it -- especially the bunk beds and the nice backyard, and they also enjoyed checking out the boats in the marina right across the street and watching the working drawbridge (within walking distance). It was great for young kids, but would also be perfect for couples or a group of adults looking for a pleasant visit to the Eastern Shore. We were not ready to leave and will make plans to go back! Tilghman Island is quiet and a little off the beaten path compared to some of the larger towns, which makes for a relaxing escape from the city. It offers an "authentic" Eastern Shore experience in a community of working watermen, but at the same time it is only a 10 minute drive from the shops of St. Michaels. On Tilghman Island, we had an excellent seafood supper at Mike & Eric's and a really good breakfast at Two If By Sea. We also visited during the Waterfowl Festival in Easton, which was a really good time. The owners are pleasant and very easy to deal with. We highly recommend staying at this cottage!
