“Chateau de Servigny during Christmas 2014”

Reviewed 8 Jan 2015

The chateau is a great place to gather family or friends for holidays or events. Our Norwegian-French family of three generations, stayed for 7 nights in Chateau de Servigny, during Christmas, from 21. – 28. dec. 2014. Fifteen persons, eight adults and seven children (from 3-17), had a «once-of-a-life-time»-experience here, and we will remember this forever. The 8 bedrooms - each different from the other – all included toilet and bath, and apart from some of the beds being a bit too short for long Norwegians, they were all very nicely furnished and convenient. The castle offered multiple opportunities for all ages; piano, chess, TV, DVD’s, ping-pong, baby-foot, biking (for both children and adults) and tennis - or just a run or walk in the surrounding park. The small castle/play house in the park amazed the smaller kids. We would love to come back during summer time to try the swimming pool too! The family de Pontac has created a fantastic place to gather people for the extraordinary happenings, and with good taste in all details (colors, tapestry, furniture, curtains) and knowledge they have managed to create an authentic and yet practical place to stay. The kitchen was quite well equipped, but as we wanted to prepare all the meal ourselves (having a Chef in the family), extra casseroles etc. were needed. In the fantastic dining room beside the kitchen, we enjoyed our meals all gathered around the table. On Christmas Eve, we even used the small chapel in the park behind the chateau. This was a magical moment with candles, singing and some of the children playing the flute. The only thing we really missed, especially during this cold season, was the ability to use the fireplaces around in the house. We believe it would be a good idea to make this possible, especially in the dining room. Thank you for a memorable and magic Christmas holiday for our family!

“Magical Chateau for a perfect vacation in Normandy”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2014

We stayed for close to 2 weeks at this wonderful chateau. The accommodations were perfect. The food was delicious. The grounds were amazing. The pool was refreshing. The location was perfect to stage a vacation in Normandy. We easily visited all of the WWII sites in addition to Mont St Michel. I highly recommend ordering family style dinners as they were all cooked to perfection.

“Fit for a King”

The time we spent at Chateau de Servingny was tres bien! The grounds are immense and beautiful. The photo opportunities are many and magnificent. We traveled with two families of five, and the castle had something for everyone. The tennis courts and the piano proved to be excellent entertainment. The bedrooms are large, immaculate, and beautifully decorated. The chef was top rate. It was wonderful to have a hot meal waiting for us after touring Normandie. The meals we ordered were excellent and served with a smile. Both families agreed that this was one of our best vacations ever!

“3 days in Normandy”

Reviewed 30 May 2012

The castle was a great location for the Normandy tours we took. Very clean, Bathrooms and Bedrooms all nice and worth the price of admission! Private gate to enter and you can cook in the kitchen or just hire a person to cook. We had 3 great breakfasts for a very reasonable price and we even cooked one night ourselves! We only had 6 adults but the castle could handle many more. Castle has great internet service and flat screen Tv's with DVD players. Very hot showers and you can even use the washing machine and dryer if necessary. Bikes available to ride and a ping-pong table too. It's like your own 4 star hotel! Normandy is definitely a place to put on your "Bucket List" Arnaud whose family owns the place is a wonderful man and met us one evening and showed us the room where the Wwii treaties were signed.

“A wonderful week in Normandy”

Reviewed 2 Oct 2011

The Chateau de Servigny was everything the listing description promised. The location, facilities and overall layout of the chateau were exactly as I expected. The property was clean, the grounds were immaculate, and the chateau and its setting were utterly breathtaking. The different rooms throughout the chateau and their decor were amazing, offering a glimpse into the past. The kitchen was a warm and cozy gathering spot for our group's members in the morning, the dining room was spacious with the old fireplace providing a marvelous backdrop for the convivial suppers we enjoyed in the room, and the library with its entertainment center was a comfortable retreat at the end of a busy day spent sightseeing. The biggest drawback at the chateau is its lack of handicap accessibility. The flights of stairs to the second and third floors are daunting enough for those who are hale and hearty. Anyone confined to a wheelchair would simply be out of luck, and that is a pity considering what the chateau has to offer overall. The customer service provided by the staff at the chateau was very acceptable. The staff was pleasant and eager to accommodate our needs. The laundry facilities were especially welcome. The bathroom facilities were up-to-date and the beds were extremely comfortable. The only suggestion one might make is that the bath towels be changed once during the week. I would highly recommend the Chateau de Servigny to any friends or relatives considering a vacation in Normandy in particular or Europe in general. The chateau is centrally located in a historic region and is a perfect hub for day-long sightseeing excursions. The proximity to the allied landing beaches is a particularly good selling point for anybody interested in the history of the Second World War. All in all, our stay at the Chateau de Servigny could not have been more enjoyable. A return visit would certainly be worth considering.

“a deam vacation”

Dear Sir, The Danish Vikings (read past Normans) are back again in Denmark and would like to express their gratitude for having the opportunity to rent your beautiful Chateau de Servigny. We enjoyed every minute at the lovely and well restored castle & its environment and surroundings and we will recommend it to other Scandinavians with great pleasure. Especially we would like to emphasis our charming hostess of the day, i.e. Francoise, who always was there and at the same time discreetly was not there. She is a great ambassador for you and we are very thankful to her! In your guestbook, we tried to make a poem as well in French as English, but the shaky handwriting of the eldest of the Vikings - in casu the undersigned - were perhaps not legible, therefore the poem is repeated below. Pour Familie de Pontac! Il pleut sur la ville, comme il pleure dans mon coeur. Quelle est cette langueur, qui penetre mon coeur. Ah, qui belle est cette Chateau de Servigny avec tout la grandeur et beauté Normandy! We fought on the beaches with long gone men, and found time in this book to sharpen our pen. To thank you for a lovely time and Francoise, Who made the whole into a gorgeous” oase”! Thanks again for a great event and lovely holiday.
