“Most comfortable I ever slept in!!”
We have been coming to Anna Maria for about 12 years. We have stayed in different places on the Island (last place, we returned for several years). My search is over! I found Shady Pines on line earlier in the year and even though it was pricier than what we were used to paying, we thought we would at least give it a try. When we pulled into the driveway and got out of the car, we knew we had found 'home'. Within 30 minutes my husband said it was worth the extra money. We have already booked for next May. The house was amazing. There was nothing we wanted for. From beach towels to chairs, to floats, to wi fi. It was all there. Oh, did I mention the master bed (king) is by far the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. Seriously. You'll just have to check it out! The kitchen had everything and then some to cook meals in. And even though there are numerous restaurants all around you (several within walking/biking range) we loved being on the beach all day, coming in late afternoon, cleaning up and sitting out under the trees playing cards, with a nice cool drink and watching the sun set. And then we would fix a late dinner and chill for the evening. But you could go to a different restaurant every night - just on the Island there alone. And as far as the owners go -- I felt like if we lived there we would be friends with them. They made us feel very comfortable while we were there. Can't wait till next summer and we can enjoy 'our' beach house again!!!
“Beautiful beach house!”
If you are looking for a quiet single family home on the beach, this is it. Walk out the back door and there is nothing between you and the beautiful white sand beach. The house is still very close to the main road where the shops and restaurants are located too. The owners provided everything needed and were very nice to come visit to make sure we were happy. I would definitely stay here again!!!
“Couldn't have asked for a better house or beach”
Our family of four (kids age 12 and 17) visited Anna Maria Island for the first time. We love this island and will be back! Beach is absolutely gorgeous and calm except for two days; one day was stormy and the other day had riptide currents warning. This home "Shady Pines" was perfect for us. Everything was there for our needs. When we discovered a broken beach umbrella, the owner, Bob, was at our house in minutes with a replacement. It's so nice to know the owners live nearby. The house is comfortable and tastefully decorated. The best part is the shady back yard that walks out to beautiful wide, sandy beach. We always ate outside on the wooden table under the cover (though cover not needed). Every night as a family we experienced the most beautiful sunset right from our beach! Very relaxing vacation! This is the first location/beach where I felt comfortable and safe that we can spread a blanket on the beach and gazed at the stars till late into the night. Last morning of our stay, we saw a school of playful dolphins not far from shore. Our children made new friends with four other teenagers vacationing from GA that accidentally walked up the path into our back yard. They all became very close friends and inseparable. I know we will always cherish that time together. We enjoyed the Mangrove kayak trip with Almost Heaven out of Sarasota. Saw a lot of birds and spotted a manatee once. Tried to book with Shane from Happy Paddlers of Holmes Beach but he was leaving for his wedding & honeymoon :) Congrats Shane! We ate at Lobstah's, Tortilla Bay, Minnie's (for breakfast), The Feast (the best all-you-can-eat king crab legs), The Beach House, Walt's Fish Market, Columbia restaurant (in Sarasota). All were good restaurants but our favorites were The Beach House (both food and view are amazing) in Holmes Beach and Walt's Fish Market (locally owned & fresh seafood in Sarasota). We really enjoyed visiting St. Armand's Circle which is about 20-25 minutes away in Sarasota with beautiful shops and great restaurants. If you go there, must visit the Columbia restaurant. We enjoy taking the trolley around the island even though we have a rental car. Publix Supermarket is so conveniently located. We can't wait to plan our next trip to come back to this same house and beach! Thank you again Bob & Monique for letting us use your home to build lasting memories as a family.
“Best spot on the island”
We spent a week at Shady Pines for our family vacation. We loved the location right on the beach but also enjoyed the shade of the trees in hot afternoons. The water in the gulf is clear blue as advertised. The house was well-maintained a clean. The owners were a joy to work with. There were several shops and restaurants within walking distance. We ate at Lobstah's which was very good. For breakfast we recommend Ginny & Jane's and also Anna Maria Donuts. The island itself is mainly residential and very laid back. Most Tampa area attractions are about an hour drive. We went to Busch Gardens one day which we highly recommend especially for roller coaster lovers. We also went to St. John's Pass up toward the Clearwater area beaches. This was a typical boardwalk touristy area that was a fun afternoon getaway. There is no boardwalk touristy area on Anna Maria Island. The shops along Pine ave are as close as you get and that really is not even close at all. Overall I give this vacation an A+ and would highly recommend this location.
“Amazing beach house perfect location!”
We had a fantastic time staying on Anna Maria Island at Shady Pines!!! This was our first family trip to the Island and can't wait to come back next year! Bob and Monique were more than easy to work with and very accommodating to us... The house is very well stocked, from pots and pans to beach chairs and towels... The beds are all super comfy and towels are nice and big... We have 3 teenage boys and we had plenty of room to spread out and be comfortable. I highly recommend this house...
It was the place of our girls night and mother sister time before the wedding ceremony that was to be performed on the next day. Our families arrived for the wedding in the afternoon and we shared an evening meal before the golden hour when we had our ceremony on the beach. After our wedding had concluded and the family had mingled, they departed and my husband and I shared our honeymoon there for the remainder of the time. We enjoyed everything. Shady Pines is beautiful with an awesome view of the ocean. There is a hammock for napping surrounded by the tropical landscaping of the backyard. The place was clean and comfortable with a kitchen large enough to suit a family desiring to prepare meals, or to order in and put out a sizable spread. There is a canopy out doors for family size gatherings were we had our first dance. Showering after a swim in the ocean is convenient since there is an outside shower and also one in the garage. The ocean is nice for swimming and the beach is white and sandy. Sometimes pictures stretch the truth. The pictures for this place tell it more the way it is and there is more to be seen when you get there. Over all we had a wonderful time.
“Home for well-being”
We are coming since several years and always we are happy to be in this neat and perfect home. The owners are very kindly and helpful. You don`t miss not anything but enough time for relaxing. We will return again and again.
“A pick me up that never fails!”
If peace and quiet is what you are looking for then you are headed to the right beach. As to Shady Pine, it is a gem! Simple yet practical, small but enough. Stay away from it in June, I will fight you for it. Enjoy it whenever you can, it is a real slice of life.
“The Ultimate in relaxation”
This is the second time we've stayed and we'll be back. A perfect locatrion, lots to do, or not, and a spotlessly clean house on our arrival all added up to a great vacation. We couldn't have been more pleased with our experience.
“A perfect vacation home.”
We love this vacation home! It is perfect because of the beautiful beach and shady yard overlooking the beach and ocean. Sunsets are phenomenal! We loved sitting under the trees relaxing or swinging in the hammock. It is a block from shops and restaurants. The home is upscale "Florida style", very comfortable, private, with everything we needed. The owners are nearby and ready to help out with anything we needed or information about the island. We will be back soon.
