“little hub of happiness”

Reviewed 22 Apr 2014

This apartment had everything one could need to make their stay in Paris a memorable one. Located a minute away from a fantastic market area and great shops, it made it easy to jump into the Parisan way of life. Other than the drain clogging from time to time, we found the apartment comfortable and in a great area.

Response from the owner Hi Megan, Thanks so much for taking the time to write this review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We're sorry about the problem with the drain. It has now been fixed. Kind regards, Kate, Patrick and Maite.

“Lovely way to end our European holiday”

Reviewed 5 Jun 2012

Staying at Rue de Clery was a lovely way to end our European adventure. The apartment is light, airy and clean, with high ceilings, that make it feel larger than it actually is. The owners have also made clever use of all available space. We felt that the owners had put a lot of time and effort into setting up the apartment. They have left lots of thoughtful extras, like bodywash, herbs, spices, oil, kitchen wraps and extensive lists of restaurant recommendations. It made us feel, as if we were in our own home. Finally, the lovely Maite, who explained everything, from start to finish, on the apartment. She was so easy to work with, when organising arrival and departure times. Deposit was also returned very promptly. Fantastic !!

Response from the owner Thank you Fairlie ! Hope you had a nice way back. See you soon, maybe in another country :) Kate, Patrick and Maïté

“Small, but perfectly formed, in a great location.”

Reviewed 23 May 2012

No nasty surprises. The apartment was everything we expected it to be and as described in the website. Fantastic location. Clean and had everything we needed including the very helpful concierge, Maite. We arrived late on a bank holiday but she was still happy to show us around and give us lots of local information. We were in the apartment with two children and although the apartment is small I am sure it is average by Paris standards and was more than sufficient for us as we were out most of the time exploring Paris and eating great food - much of which was available on the doorstep. The best thing about the apartment is its location. You are within 10-15 minutes walk from most of the main attractions. Despite the fact that we had young children with us we were able to get around on foot most of the time. Have already recommended the apartment to a number of friends and we will definitely be staying there again next time we are in Paris.

Response from the owner Bonjour Richard, Thank you very much ! It's always pleasant to read people enjoy their time. There is no best reward than happy travelers. Hope seeing you another time, wherever it will be ! Cheers Kate, Patrick and Maïté

“Doesn't get any better than this”

Reviewed 25 Dec 2011

My husband and I searched for a while to find the perfect accomodation in a great location to ensure our trip to Paris was as perfect as possible. That place was Rue de Clery. In addition to being centrally located (i.e. walk to Notre Dame, Louvre, Boulevard Haussman, etc), the apartment itself feels warm and welcoming - like home and not a commercial apartment. The fitting and furnishings are top notch. We were quite impressed with every aspect of the apartment. The apartment has a number of leaflets and written recommendations in the "Share book" with stories from former customers - a really nice touch to get to know the area personally. Even the smallest details, such as cooking pots, are outstanding. We made a curry in a pot which didn't leave any hard to scrub remnants. Anyone who has ever cooked a curry knows how the curry sticks to the bottom of pans! There are a number of books on Paris and things to do which is great in planning your day. The free Macbook and internet is also quite handy. The clothes washing machine and dryer is a huge convenience as is the heated flooring in winter. There are at least two supermarkets closeby for supplies and close to the metro as well (although we preferred walking - a much better way to "feel" Paris). Looking forward to staying there again soon! P.S. Maite is outstanding and we even got a farewell gift of yummy cookies!

Response from the owner Thanks Annie, We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Please come back soon. Kate and Patrick x

“We really enjoyed this groovy, clean and central apartment”

Reviewed 16 Nov 2011

We were very happy with our stay at Rue De Clery. The owners and manager are very helpful and provided a clean, central apartment that was the perfect launching place for our French fun. The manager Maite welcomed us and gave us some excellant advice on the equipment in the flat, the good local shops and restaurants. Our stay was made even more memorable by my australian niece's boyfriend proposing to her near the Louvre!

Response from the owner Thank you Louise for your kind comment. When is the wedding planned then ? Cheers Kate, Patrick and Maïté

“A romantic getaway”

Reviewed 7 Jun 2011

We loved staying at Rue de Clery. The concierge was very attentive to our needs when problems arose - and very concerned to make sure that we were happy. Very glad she was so accessible. The apt location is great - walking distance to Le Marais (our favorite locale) and all the great museums. The suite is contemporary and spacious. Very comfortable and tastefully decorated-with all the amenities. We would definitely return.

“Could stand improvement”

Reviewed 31 May 2011

The apartment on Rue de Clery was conveniently located both for our touring activities and for the day to day needs of shopping and eating out. It seemed pretty clear that the apartment has had hard use and that maintenance has been neglected. We discovered this when the drain in the shower clogged, and we found a stream of water running through the bedroom and out into the hall. This wasn't as disastrous as it sounds, but our idea of a fun vacation doesn't include mopping the floor - especially when no bucket or wringer are provided. The apartment is pretty cramped. The double bed is set so that one person has to climb over the bed - or the other person - to get into or out of bed. There's one fairly uncomfortable couch in the living area, plus a nice dining table. Just beware that you don't sit at the end of the benches at the dining table lest they flip up and you wind up on the floor. The apartment is well equipped with appliances and conveniences, but the owners need to pay more attention to "the basics" to make it a good value and a good place to stay.

Response from the owner Dear Steve and Anne, We are truly sorry to hear your remarks. In almost 2 years of renting this is our first negative comment so we take your feedback very seriously and will use it to improve what we can. About the shower problem, it is a shame that you did not call us about this. We would have been happy to send someone around to help you the moment it happened and give you a bottle of champagne for your trouble. As we were in contact over some questions you had during your stay, we are surprised that you did not mention it. The overflow was due to a filter that gets emptied after each guest which our new cleaner had neglected to empty before your arrival. It has been rectified now and will not happen again. We are very sorry you had to suffer the consequences of this oversight. As to your other comments, yes the apartment is small by American standards (by Paris standards it is quite normal). We make no secret of this and give the exact sq footage in our property description so we are sorry that it did not meet your expectations. The slightly unbalanced benches we can't do anything about. This is rustic, antique, French-countryside furniture. We believe the imperfections are part of the charm! Again, we are sorry that you were not happy with your stay and as a gesture we would like to offer you a discounted rate if you decide to give us another chance in the future. Kind regards, Kate, Patrick and Maité

“nice to come home to”

Reviewed 9 May 2011

Very glad we chose this place - it lives up to its publicity. It's clean and modern, recently refurbished, great for two people. (Would be a bit squeezy for four.) The bed is very comfortable and the bedroom faces onto a courtyard so it's quiet for sleeping. The location is perfect - close in to the sights but not a touristy area. It was great to be able to stroll 2 mins to Rue Montorgueil for dinner or food shopping - heavenly cheeses and fresh fruit & veg. Lots of Metro and Velib stations within easy reach. Interesting just to stroll around window-shopping as it's a rag trade area. Great shopping for gifts in Passage Jouffroy off the Grands Boulevards. The concierge Maite was lovely and most helpful.

“Great place”

My wife and I and her parents stayed in this wonderful apartment which sits within 10 minutes walk to the Louvre. The flat is lovely and all the thoughtful touches and details made it a very special stay. The whole package was so well managed and organised it made for a memorable 4 day visit to Paris.

“Comfy, stylish and central apartment!”

Reviewed 14 Apr 2011

My mom and I stayed at Rue Clery for 3 nights while celebrating her 70th birthday. We enjoyed making fresh salads with baguette and cheese for dinner from the markets in nearby rue Montorgueil. Easy access to metro, and walking distance to the Seine!
