“Paradise”

Beautiful house with a spectacular ocean view. Walking distance to beach. House has all upgrades and very comfortable.

“Des vacances en famille fantastiques”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2014

Un bel environnement pour profiter de 3 plages à proximité ( 5 minutes à pieds) . Il y a également un petit marché tout près où l on retrouve tout pour faire un repas. On y retrouve également quelques restaurants typipiques.

“Beautiful views and close to some of the most amazing beaches”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2014

We enjoyed a relaxing week there in November, with our three kids and mother in law. This was a perfect location. The kids jumped in the pool within minutes of us moving in. The town is easy to navigate for shoping for groceries. Our days started with listening to howler monkeys and watching them in the trees from the gorgeous master suite. Then cooking breakfast in the modern kitchen, and packing lunches for our day at the beach. We went to four different beaches throughout the week most are a 2-5 minute drive, where we would park our car at the one hotels on the beach, safe secure parking. Then explore the beaches all day until sunset. We could rent sup boards etc at some of the beaches. In November we had most of the beaches to ourselves. The water was perfect, calm, warm, sandy bottom. We would come home and cook dinner, while the kids had to get one more swim in before bed. We will be heading back.

“Best vacation of my life!!”

Villa Cielo is truly as pretty as the pictures in the listing and even more so . While sitting in the Costa Rican rockers on the main balcony , you'll be mesmerized as you watch the fishing and sail boat activity coming out of the Flamingo marina. Keep those binoculars close by for a close look at the incredible array of birds that fly by or to zoom in on the fish activity in the bay. Playa Potrero and Penca are easily walkable as well as a variety of restaurants and grocery stores. Playa Penca is truly one of the nicest beaches in the area..never crowded, beautiful white sand mix with some black granules and just the right amount of surf for boogie boards. The pool , wetbar and outside dining area are a great place to just kick back after a day at the beach. Carol and Scott were incredibly helpful in helping us put together activities and making referrals to maximize our week...We would return to this property in a heartbeat..

“A security nightmare”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2014

There are many entry points for thieves and there are brazen ones in the area.We were burglarized while we slept ,the thief having pulled apart!!! the inadequate security bars and removed the 4 inch wide glass window slats before climbing in over the kitchen sink. We had the slats open for air thinking the iron bars would keep us safe. After this happened we insisted on having a security guard on site each night. Do not stay here without a security guard on the site .Before you go out, make sure all the possible entry points on the three levels are secure,a time consuming and stressful exercise that is necessary just to go to the beach. The alarm system on the glass doors malfunctions constantly. We are seasoned Central america travellers, familiar with security issues but found this our most challenging rental to date. Since the location is on a steep hill, walking is difficult and very uncomfortable in the heat. The main floor gets a lot of sun in the afternoon and with the lack of suitable blinds,A/C is necessary. We were very uncomfortable here and while the decor and bed linens are very nice and Carol responded quickly to ongoing maintenance issues, we would not return to this villa.

Response from the owner We are so sorry this unfortunate incident occurred. During fiesta hundreds of revelers flock to our community and thieves are on the lookout for opportunities . This is why we provide a safe for valuables such as electronics, phones ,cash and keys so they won’t be visible to thieves . Again I am sorry you were targeted and I am happy that we were able to hire a security guard for the remainder of your time at the villa . After careful analysis and phone discussions with the guest , we were able to determine that a setting had been changed on the security system and now it is in working order. Our southern exposure offers delightful views and sunsets from every level of the villa .We have curtains on the glass sliders that can be closed but will consider if they are sufficient for the mid-day sun. Our setting on a hill overlooking the bay offers panoramic views and may not be for everyone. We strive to make our villa safe and comfortable for all guest as well as ourselves.

“Our stay was like being rocketed into the fifth deminsion...wond”

Reviewed 13 Feb 2013

Our 7 night stay, from the beginning to the end was more than what we could have imagined or expected. The constant availability of our hosts, Carl and Scott Higgins...priceless! Money can not buy the level of support, direction and guidance they so freely offered whenever needed. The respectful welcome of the locals wherever we went...absolutely amazing! We were many times in places we had never been while never feeling lost. The setting, the accommodations and the weather all combined to create memories that will last a lifetime...and it also served to open up a world of possibilities. I have to smile while I insert the following because I thing we may be onto something. We noticed the following...of all the species of "man's best friend" that we encountered in Costa Rica, not one; I repeat, not one, ever made the slightest gesture of unfriendliness toward us. We know we are biased because we love our own furr-kids, but could it be that the lifestyle in Costa Rica is such that it effects all living things with the most serene approach to existence? Could be.

An amazing week spent at villa Cielo Mar. The unit was quiet clean and comfortable. The views were stunning from every level. Howler monkeys could be heard throughout the day and even came for a visit by the pool one day. Proximity to town is nice and convenient for grocery stores and restaurants. Brasilito and Flamingo beach were a short drive away. The pool was clean and refreshing. Carol and Scott were a pleasure to deal with. The were easy to get a hold of and accomodating for any questions we had. Carol got us in touch with Frank the fish guy to purchase fresh jumbo shrimp and Mahi Mahi. It was delicious on the grill. We made piña coladas and watched the sun set on our balcony every evening. If you are looking for a quiet and restful vacation away from the grounds of a resort this is the place for you.

“Perfect Sunsets”

Villa Ciela del Mar was a great way to spend our first vacation in Costa Rica. Playa Potrero is located within driving distance to several great beaches. There are also good beaches within walking distance. The town is very laid back, the people could not be friendlier and the restaurants serve good local food. Nothing is fancy in this area...shorts, flip flops and tank tops will be fine. After a day of exploring we were always happy to get home to take a dip in the pool. The sunsets were awesome form the balcony that overlooked the Pacific. Captain Jack and Bismark kept the outside spotless and were a great source of information. If you go, be sure to touch base with them. Enjoy!

This place is just like home, only better no snow. Pool right outside your door, beach right down the road, and a blender on the counter!! The sunsets every night on the deck are so relaxing after a day in the water. You will return more then once. Maine
