“Rare Pearl in Bora Bora”

Reviewed 25 Dec 2013

Celebrated husband's 40th with 6 others in July staying in the Marlon & Brando overwater bungalows. We made excellent use of the well stocked kitchens, cooked & ate most of our meals together, bought tuna from street sellers, made good use of the b-b-q, fed and caught fish off the decks, and enjoyed the company of some new friends we made. Nir was the ultimate concierge and helped us out at every turn. We were able to rent 1 small car from Nir and would have needed a van for our group, but there are none to be had on the island, making for very memorable excursions! Though very windy for 5 of our 7 days, we drove the ring road, shopped, enjoyed the nightly Heiva festival, the turtle sanctuary, beaches on the south tip and searched for the various marae's on the island. On day 5 the winds finally died down and we and we toured the island by boat, snorkeled with sting rays, black tipped sharks and lemon sharks, went scuba diving with manta ray's and sharks, and tried to chase down whales that were spotted nearby, but luck was not on our side as we never did get a glimpse of these majestic creatures. These bungalows are truly a rare pearl in Bora Bora and we are delighted to have shared them for a moment in time. • Staying on the mainland was ideal, you get a true feel for how the locals live with easy access to restaurants, grocery stores and local fish and fruit sellers • Bungalows are ideally located, private, with everything you need to be self sufficient • Access to the ocean right off the deck, to watch the schools of fish swimming by, the resident octopus in her lair, morning swims, night swims and fishing • Communication with Richard and Nir was excellent Maruru!

“I truly wish everyone going to Bora Bora will get to expereince”

I have to admit I was apprehensive renting from someone I had never met. Thanks to those who wrote reviews and gave me the assurance to jump on the opportunity. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Tiare (Nir was out of town) who gave us the key and a cell phone so we could call whenever we had a problem. We did call a few times. Tiare was quick to respond and solved all our problems. The bungalow is exactly as depicted in the photos - spacious, clean, nicely furnished, well equipped, in the lagoon. The best snorkeling spot is in front of the bungalow. There's more to see here than in front of the other bungalows in the complex. We saw an octopus, shy moray eels, parrot fish, spotted eagle rays (if you stay quiet, they'll let you swim along with them), and many more... We came across a school of travelly that patrolled the water. We went on a snorkel excursion and a fishing trip and got picked up/dropped off at our own dock. We rented a car from Tiare. Without it, we would miss out on getting fresh baguettes in the morning, cruising to the many postcard perfect picturistic spots, and greeting the fishermen when they came in with their catch of the day. Bora Bora is paradise and you'd feel it the moment you step off the plane. I am sure we would have had a great time if we were to stay in the over water bungalows in one of the resorts. But I would not trade it for what we had. Apart from the money we save, what makes Marlon's and Brando's so unique - especially after seeing where the luxury resorts are situated - is how it made us feel. There are only five over water bungalows in the complex so we had total privacy. It's located on the main island, so we're connected to what makes the island so special apart from its natural beauty- its people, their culture and way of life. I feel so blessed to have experienced it not as an outsider coming to a dream location but as someone who lives in paradise. Truly wish everyone going to Bora Bora will get to expereince this.

“A Great Hideaway”

Reviewed 19 Sep 2012

My husband and I really enjoyed the Bungalow. It had everything we needed, was well set-up and the views were spectacular. The water was gorgeous with plenty of colorful fish to make for some great snorkeling. We would love to come back to this hideaway as soon as we can.
