“Wonderful setting for a reunion of friends”

Reviewed 21 Jan 2015

Our group of friends rented all of Living Waters for a reunion gathering over New Years. It was a wonderful space and met our needs really well -- we are a mix of couples and single friends, and there was plenty of sleeping space around the property, while the main house provided a great space for cooking and feasting, building fires, lounging and reading, and catching up. The decor was cozy and eclectic. Bethany and Travis were traveling, but the stand-in hosts, Jordan and Emma, were wonderful. They were present and low-key throughout our visit, and even prepared a wonderful Texas-style BBQ for us on New Year's Eve, which required prep work starting very early that day. Communication with Bethany during the booking process was prompt, professional, and very informative. The weather was chilly and rainy, so we did not do much exploring of the grounds, but they looked quite interesting. Only a few minor things that could be better: a gas stove instead of electric would be preferable, and with the wonderful chef's kitchen, a six-burner stove would have been better to prepare meals for our group of 15. More tupperwares for leftovers from our cooking would help. The hot tub was a little cold one day. And in terms of sleeping spaces, a lot of the structures are set up loft-style. This meant that a couple of the spaces could technically fit two couples, but would not afford much privacy. It would be great if a few of those loft spaces could be closed off to create separate bedrooms. All in all, a wonderful stay and very highly recommended.

Response from the owner We're so glad you all had an incredible time at the property! We're excited to share with you that Jordan and Emma will be the full-time on-site hosts starting in June! Jordan is a private chef so you could easily have all of your meals included in your stay....they just loved connecting with all of you! Hope to see you soon :)

“A heavenly little retreat in paradise”

Reviewed 5 Nov 2014

Bethany and her husband have the perfect set-up in Lake Travis. A snuggly little cabin tucked away in the middle of nowhere is the ultimate mode of relaxation. It immediately felt like home and a vacation at the same time. Not only are they passionate about finding quality beauty in everyday things, but they also have the most wonderful story of following their passions. Please go, give it a try, and unwind! :)

“Beautiful property with healing energy”

Reviewed 4 Nov 2014

After attending a retreat at Living Waters, I was excited about facilitating a retreat myself there one day. Bethany made the process easy-- from concept to marketing, from planning to refining. The moment the retreat participants arrived on property, they were instantly transcended to a healing place. We immensely enjoyed our time outdoors, cozied up in our spots indoors, and formed lasting friendships that were nurtured by the beauty of this property. I can't wait to host my next retreat!

“Great Weekend Retreat”

Beautiful property. Interesting architecture and relaxing hill country / lake environment perfect for hosting a weekend retreat. Bethany and Travis were extremely helpful. We'll be back! Highly recommended.

“An Awesome Place to Escape & Reconnect”

Reviewed 28 May 2014

My friend found this place for a last minute girls getaway. The house we stayed in was amazing with unique decor and everything you need to rest and relax. We enjoyed the nearby winery and fresh veggies from the Tomato Lady. The private yoga session with Bethany and Thai massage with Travis were absolutely wonderful. The accommodations and personal attention made us feel so very special making it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Response from the owner Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We really enjoyed meeting you both and are happy you found Living Waters to be as relaxing and unique as we do :) We hope you'll come back and see us!!!

“A peaceful wedding (yes, it's possible!)”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2013

On a beautiful spring morning we were married at Living Waters. We booked the entire facility for the weekend to house our out-of-town friends and family. The atmosphere exudes peace and was perfectly aligned with our vision for the weekend. Neither one of us wanted to obsess over the "typical and expected" wedding day/weekend issues (for example, having every decoration look perfect to within an inch of its life). We wanted a neurotic-free zone, and Living Waters totally delivered-starting with Bethany and Travis. They are completely calm souls. Bethany answered all of our questions promptly. The arrangement of the buildings and grounds allowed for a very private and intimate weekend. We enjoyed the hammocks, native plants and appreciated that it was not an overly-manicured environment-it's an honest, natural setting. Can you tell we despise over-production? We brought food from our favorite trailers in austin and availed ourselves of the kitchens to store, heat, and serve the food. Everything we needed was there. And throughout the weekend, Bethany and Travis were there if we needed anything. Best of all, after our friends and family left, we were able to stay and enjoy a slow afternoon with the hummingbirds, butterflies, and leftover wedding cake. Living Waters is a remarkable venue that will be in our hearts forever. Thank you for everything.

“Perfect, Perfect, Perfect!”

Reviewed 14 Mar 2013

We went to Living Water for our corporate retreat, and what an amazing time it was! Not only is the place stunning, it's so incredibly peaceful. Like you can feel the energy of the place just exudes serenity. You literally cannot be stressed there! Bethany and Travis, the caretakers of the property, greeted us and orientated us for our time there, showing us everything the property had to offer. Our company hired a private chef that was on property for all our food needs (very reasonably priced I heard!), so Friday after arrival we had a delicious dinner. Our rooms were actually little unique cottages all over the property, so offered total privacy. Complete with fridge, coffee maker, wine glasses (you know, the essentials)! : ) Day two brought morning Yoga led by Bethany at the outdoor yoga studio on property. Then Thai massage by Travis in the indoor treehouse. Some cleansing water, a delicious lunch, and a little time by the gorgeous outdoor fireplace. We went on a little nature walk down the steps that have been carved into the side of the hill in stone and walked down the river and got some fresh air. Back to the house then off to a wine tasting at the Stonehouse Vineyard (about a 5 min. walk from the house). We got back in time for a little dip in the hot tub that overlooks the river and watched the sunset while we sipped on some pre-dinner cocktails. Total heaven! Another amazing dinner and then gathered outside around a big metal fire pit and chatted the night away. The whole place is wired for outdoor sound. Such a nice touch! Sunday was the worst day, because we had to leave : ( But after a yummy breakfast, we hit the road home, relaxed and refreshed and talking about how soon we could go back. This was one of the most luxurious and relaxing vacations I've never had, and I've done my fair share of traveling. Great for kids, couples, groups, families, etc. Loved it!

“Friends Retreat at the Beautiful Living Waters”

Reviewed 11 Mar 2013

We chose Living Waters as the location to hold a "friends retreat" - we invited 10 of our closest friends out to Spicewood to enjoy a relaxing 3-day stay at the property. We were blown away by how awesome the experience was! Bethany and Travis were the best hosts we could have possibly had for this event- they are such pleasant people, and helped with anything we needed! Staying in La Casa de Joy was like living in a fantasy world- waking up to the gorgeous sunrise in such a warm, enchanting house was amazing. We used the giant kitchen to cook community meals for our whole party. During our stay, we took a walk to the vineyard to try the delicious wine, and we also had an invigorating yoga/thai massage session with Bethany. When our stay was up, no one wanted to leave! Living Waters provided us with the opportunity to catch up and reminisce about old times while also helping us create a new experience that we won't soon forget.I would hands down recommend Living Waters to anyone wanting to relax and unwind in a beautiful atmosphere.

“Peaceful and serene”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2013

If you need to relax and have peace and quiet, this is the place. Beautiful, spacious house with Southwest decor, big back porch with fireplace to sit with a glass of wine in the evening and watch the sunset over the lake. Deer and squirrels visit, the wind plays a tune in the windchimes, and cares just float away. There is a hot tub and the property manager, Bethany is next door if you need anything. You can get a Thai Massage to complete the visit. We enjoyed the week so much and highly recommend.

“Amazing!!!”

Reviewed 4 Dec 2012

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at the casa de joy and i was amazing!! Very well maintanaced, every thing from the outside to the inside was clean. We were greeted by a romantic fire place entering the home. It has a fully equipped kitchen with all the pots, pans, and cooking utensils you'll need. the bedroom is so romantic, there's a fireplace next to the bed and on the other side is a garden tub that i would advise everyone to take advantage of. there's also a privite hot tub outside right next to the porch. I would and will recommend this place to anyone looking to getaway and relax. The manager Bethany is very accomadating, she made sure we had everything we needed from propaine(for grill),to fire wood(for outside fireplace), to clean towels. I couldn't have dreamed of a better place to spend my honeymoon.

Response from the owner To the honeymooners, we are so thrilled you had an amazing honeymoon and thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! You are both so sweet & in love ~ you will have a beautiful life together. We are honored you chose to begin this new chapter in our home and hope that you'll spend many anniversaries & romantic getaways with us in the future!
