The Bali House on the Beach, best location by far!

The Bali House is the only luxury vacation rental home located on the main beach in Manuel Antonio. Two of the main reasons people come to Costa Rica are for the rain forests and the beaches. Located on a 45 acre rain forest private preserve with paths, streams & an organic garden which borders the beach, you can enjoy the best of both worlds at the Bali House. The vast majority of rental homes in Manuel Antonio are perched high up in the hills and you must take a taxi or bus to reach the public beach areas. At the Bali House you simply walk down our garden path and through our beach gate and you are on the beach in one minute. The Bali house was designed & constructed in Bali by well known Balinese Architect Ketut Arthana, was disassembled and shipped to Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica where it was rebuilt by a crew of Balinese craftsmen.

The Bali House is composed of 4 separate buildings that surround a suspended infinity pool which are all connected by decking. The Main Living Pavilion houses the living room, dining room, sitting area, kitchen, and laundry room. The Master Bedroom is housed in a separate building and connected to the main living pavilion by a covered bridge over a water feature. The Master includes a separate dressing room and beautiful outdoor shower. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are housed in a 3rd building (one bedroom suite upstairs and 1 downstairs), and bedrooms 4 and 5 are located in the 4th building (one upstairs, one downstairs). Our guests always comment on how much they love the layout of our home. They can all be together in the main living pavilion or pool deck yet they can have privacy in their own bedroom suite. All bedrooms have king beds, a sitting area/desk, and private deck along with its own private full bath with tub, shower, double sinks, and separate water closet.

The Bali House comes with housekeeping, a gardener, pool service, and full time house manager/concierge who can hire a private chef, arrange transportation from the San Jose Airport, arrange adventure tours, and make restaurant recommendations and reservations. We strive to do all that we can to make your vacation as enjoyable and stress-free as possible!

Our location and unique design has made the Bali House one of the most requested rental homes in Manuel Antonio and we frequently receive reservations up to a year in advance. Why stay anywhere else when you can be in the rain forest, yet on the beach!

“The pictures do not do this place justice!”

Reviewed 21 May 2015

My husband and I and two other couples, stayed at the Bali House for one week and a week wasn't long enough! When looking at this home online, I thought it looked beautiful but when we arrived, the home and view took my breath away. From beginning to end, our stay at the Bali House was like a dream. Incredible service by the cleaning staff and most importantly, Fernando! Fernando cooked breakfast and dinner for us on multiple occasions and his meals were my favorite! There was nothing better than coming back from an excursion to jump into the infinity pool with a glass of wine and have Fernando put out his delicious appetizers before he set the table for dinner. The location of the home could not have been better. Everything you could need is a few seconds to minutes from the home- grocery store, restaurants, live music, shops, etc. If you're looking for some of the best drinks in town, there is a restaurant/bar at the top of the hill above the house called Raphael's. They make a mean mojito and white peniana (i butchered the spelling) and they are some of the friendliest people we met all week. Manuel Antonio is a short beach walk from the house and there are chairs for the beach already down in front of the house. Any of the staff at the house is more than happy to move the hammocks down to the beach as well. I found we loved being in the pool so much, we rarely hung out on the beach! Also, Fernando's daughter, Maria, was such a big help booking our excursions within 24 hours notice. We could call on either of them at any time and they were always so polite and helpful. If you rent a car, make sure it has 4 wheel drive because the house is at the bottom of a very steep hill. All taxi's and excursion pick up's can easily pick you up at your house though. In my opinion, there is no need to pay to visit Manuel Antonio National Park. You will see so much more wildlife at the Bali House than the park. Every day we had squirrel monkeys, white- faced monkeys, howler monkeys, lizards and beautiful birds visit us. Late afternoon seemed to be when all the monkeys came to play in the pool, so have a camera ready! We cannot wait to go back. You can't go wrong with the Bali House and it's worth every penny!!!

Response from the owner thank you for your kind words!! We fully agree with you and love the place as much as you. Peter & Lily

This is a wonderfully unique property - stunning, open Asian design / floor plan, multiple private bedrooms, all set within a private jungle, with access to Manuel Antonio beach. What more is there to say? The master bedroom is fantastic, and all the bedrooms are extremely well-appointed, if sparse, in their Asian/Aman Hotel sort of way. The heart of the property is the open air living room, with an incredible Indonesian ceiling construction. Being surrounded by lush jungle, open air, and beautiful polished wood - it's exquisite. For our extended family, including small children, we found the infinity pool "just right" in terms of size and location. The walk down to the private beach access is gorgeous in and of itself and the beach, spectacular (bring boogie board fins to take max advantage.) Ownership and staff were wonderfully helpful. The overall location within Manuel Antonio was ideal, and unparalleled, to our perspective. We'd strongly recommend this property and look forward to returning!!

Response from the owner Thank you for your kind review of our house. We love it too! We especially appreciated your feedback on the kitchen utensils, upon examination, we see that some of them are in fact tired and will therefore be replaced within the next month. We look forward to your return and promise to have a couple large bottles of wine waiting for you!! Peter & Lily

“The Most amazing place in Manuel Antonio!”

Peter & Lily, We were actually in tears when it came time to leave Casa Akira. It was the most wonderful thing we have ever done together as a family and we are already discussing when we will be able to return. Meeting you was also a highlight! They people you employ to help with the property are all very lovely and helpful. We had a few dinners made by Ileana and Fernando and quite honestly, there is no better deal...appetizers, set-up, an amazing dinner and desert and clean up...and we didn't even have to leave the property. Basically, the only time I left the house was to take the walk up the driveway the Raphaels!

Response from the owner Thank you AnMarie, we are so pleased your family had a wonderful time at our house. We look forward to seeing you soon. More bottles of wine and some star gazing on the beach next year??

“The only way to experience Costa Rica is the Bali House!”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2014

My family, friends, and I just returned from a week long stay at the Bali House. It was incredible. The house itself is an incredible piece of architecture, down to the smallest details in its fantastic decorum. The view of the Costa Rican ocean line and wildlife is second to none. My girlfriend and I stayed in House #2 and enjoyed the amenities it provided. The large soaker tub, open shower, king size bed, and large deck were very welcomed. On top of the great atmosphere, the staff at the Bali House was superb. Every need was met perfectly. The pool, kitchen, and laundry were taken care of daily. Fernando, our main contact, made everything from setting up excursions to ordering surfboards for the house a breeze - A huge benefit especially for those not fluent in Spanish. He was also a most gracious host whose wife made us incredible meals. I'd say they rivaled many of the local restaurants we visited. The home-style vibe and local Costa Rican fare really added a great touch to our time at the Bali House. Our trip to Costa Rica was one that I know we will never forget. The pool, beach, view and excellent accommodations made the Bali House one of the highlights. I would highly recommend this to anyone thinking of planning a trip to the area.

“You'll never want to leave!”

Reviewed 8 Jul 2014

When planning our trip we had put together an itinerary of daily activities. When we arrived at the Bali house we tossed it away. The house and surrounding property are so amazing we didn't feel the need to run around. The main living area seamlessly flows to the pool area. The view from the pool is just breathtaking especially at sunset. The beach is just a short walk down a path but we encountered all kinds of interesting wildlife- birds, lizards, crabs, monkeys during our short walk. There was something new to see everyday. The beach was clean and the water was clear blue. The waves were hugh. We spent hours boogie boarding daily. The plants and flowers on the property are pretty and different. My niece and I spent a couple of hours walking the property and taking pictures. A group of monkeys visited daily. They were very entertaining. Fernando was wonderful. He arranged a zipline trip, transportation to and from the airport and called taxi's when needed. He also had the house stocked with food based on a list we sent prior to our trip. His wife cooked dinner for us one night and it was the best local food we had all week. If you go be sure to ask him to make you his guacamole and salsa. The staff kept the house and pool clean and organized. They were there every day from 7-3.They were unobtrusive. The set up of the house with the bedrooms in separate buildings works really well. You can't hear the early risers or the late nighters. All the bedrooms are like suites. The privacy and amenities the Bali House offers really make it a treasure!

Response from the owner thank you very much for your kind words!!

“Truth in advertising, this house is simply splendid”

Reviewed 24 Apr 2014

I've read a number of the reviews of this house here on Flipkey and also over at Homeaway and I wondered if the stories were just a little too good to be true. Well, let me confirm for you, they are all accurate. The Bali house truly is amazing. It surely must be one of the finest houses in all of Costa Rica and as far as I could tell walking up and down the beach, it really is the only luxury rental property on the beach, it even has its own private access and locked gate. The photos I see here are all accurate and best of all, the staff turnover is non-existent, so the people everyone raves about in the prior reviews were the same people I dealt with when we visited last month. From the guest commentary, it is clear that many people are planning on returning to the Bali House every year, and now I can see why. Our vacation in Manuel antonio was splendid and the Bali House truly took it over the top. Beauty and privacy go hand in hand. I wish I lived there year round.

This place has it all, luxury accommodation, privacy, wildlife, and amazing people that take care of you. The house is very well maintained, there was never an issue. Jeff and Fernando were so responsive and helped out with all our needs. The beach is a 2 minute walk through an incredible oasis of tropical plants, where you can hang out under the palm trees enjoying the surf and sunsets. I would highly recommend this house, and will be counting the days until our next visit back to Casa akira.

“Our favorite vacation ever !!”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2014

The Bali house is beautiful with ample space, ideal for vacations with family and friends. Around it is beautiful and very quiet, you can see the jungle and animals as monkeys, lizards, birds of different types and colors, etc ... The Bali is the only house on the beach and very close to everything, restaurants, bars etc.. You can walk or taxi. seems magical at night, you can see the stars, the moon, the waves are heard, is very romantic for sure. The pool area is large open nature. Excellent staff, are always there for any help or view the guest need. Our experience at the Bali house was wonderful and unique, in the future we will return for sure.

“Life Style of the Rich and Famous...Just amazing”

Reviewed 22 Feb 2014

Our stay at the Bali House was better than we could have hoped for. We saw dozens of monkeys (3 different types) almost every day. The rooms were beautiful, the staff was gracious and friendly and the beach is one of the nicest we have seen in any part of the world. We had expected to travel about the area, but when we saw what we had on this amazing 45 acre property, we frankly realized we had everything we wanted to see and do. We spent most of the time simply enjoying the house and its environment. We had our meals prepared for us by Fernando and his wife and we had our groceries stocked in the kitchen. Watching the sunsets from the patio deck become the highlight of each day...just amazing...We danced, hiked, swam, fished and mostly just watched the wildlife while we listened to the sound of the waves (the house is only 200 feet from the ocean). While we realized there was plenty of things to do in the area, we rarely really wanted to leave the property. Once in a while, we forced ourselves to hike up the driveway to eat at Raphael's Terraza or Costa Verde, both fun places. As spectacular vacations go, this experience remains at the top of our list !!
