“This is why people go to Maui!”

Reviewed 30 Apr 2015

This place was excellent. Sunset views every night with Lanai and Molokai on either side of the setting sun. We counted up to 9 green sea turtles visible at a time on the reef directly below the condo. Maui gets windy in the late afternoon, but the lanai is sheltered so we ate all meals and sipped wine there all the time. The sound of waves all night is amazing. At first we would wake up and think it was stormy and then realize it was the waves. Parking at the condo is easy. Farmers Market and another small grocery are close walking distance, and Times is just a few minutes drive away. We walked along the sea wall to the smaller beach just north of the condo. There is a small rocky point there which is also good for snorkeling with the turtles, although the waves do stir up the sand somewhat. We never once turned on the TV. There are a few old games, but we really just spent the whole time looking out at the ocean, palm trees, turtles, and sunsets. Very relaxing.

“Better than we could have wished”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2013

I searched for weeks to find exactly what I wanted for our 25th anniversary and I found it. We had never been to Maui or Hawaii and I knew I wanted to be right on the water with the waves as close as possible. Let me say the videos and pictures of this condo are very accurate but seemed too good to be true. After reading all of the glowing reviews we adjusted our schedule to so we could spend 10 days that matched their availability. We were able to chat and email with the owners in a very timely manner, their follow up was great. We received detailed directions from the airport and suggestions on what to do and places to see. Once we arrived parking was simple. We headed up to the third floor and were blown away when we walked into the condo. Seeing the pictures and videos is one thing but feeling the trade winds, smelling the fresh salt air and seeing and hearing the waves literally 10 feet out from the wrap around lanai was amazing! We saw the sea turtles right below almost every day. The sunsets are amazing. You can see both islands, Molokai and Lanai, right from the living room, kitchen and lanai. We already are planning on going back for our 30th. The kitchen has everything you need to cook. There is a table on the lanai to eat, play games or just hang out. There are also two large chairs to kick back and read or nap. The outside closet has boogie boards, fins, snorkels, noodles and beach chairs. Inside are tons of extra beach towels for the pool or ocean.  There are Tv's in the master bedroom and living room. The grounds are very well kept, the pool is large and there are propane Bbq's that worked great. We were so close to everything we wanted to do and see.  You should read the comments in the book on the coffee table to really see where to go, shop and eat. I wish I could say something bad about this place so I won't have problems booking next time but there is nothing negative to report. We did not want to leave!

“Best Place We Have Every Stayed!!”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2013

We just arrived home from our week stay at Hale Ono Loa and we are already planning on when to go back. This condo exceeded our expectations. Right on the ocean...not near it...right on top of it! The constant, refreshing sound of the ocean waves was so relaxing. The views from the wrap-around lanai were amazing, especially at sunrise and sunset. The sea turtles feasting on the rocks below was fun to watch plus it looks to be the perfect place to watch the whales in the winter and spring. The trade winds off the ocean kept the temperature very comfortable. If you want to just stay around the condo and not go anywhere (which we did a couple of times) there's a 42" flat screen with cable and Blue Ray player, not to mention a beautiful pool complete with with BBQ area and deck overlooking the ocean. Inside you had the feel of an upscale resort with nice renovations in the kitchen and showers. Everything for the beach (towels, chairs, snorkel gear, etc.) was right there so we didn't have to pack or rent. The location was perfect. You're walking distance from grocery stores, farmer's markets, fish markets, local take-out and shopping. Plus, the best beaches on Maui are only minutes away...and there are plenty of options. You will not go wrong with this unit. We have stayed at Papakea, right down the road, in past years and while that is a nice resort you just don't find many places like this right on the ocean. Being an end-unit you also feel you have the entire place to yourself. Finally, the customer service was special. We were provided every piece of information...directions from the airport, places to shop & eat, best beaches. But we will most remember how accommodating they were when our flight to Maui got canceled and we arrived late. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was a memorable one.

“Splendid stay with plenty of room to relax!”

We stayed for 10 days and this condo is great! The views are spectacular, sunsets included!! Turtles, whales (woulda been), right in front of us. The kitchen is fabulous and has every feature needed. We will definitely come back. Loved it here.

“Loved the location -- So close to the ocean!”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2011

This was our first time to stay at Hale Ono Loa - but it won't be the last! We booked this two bedroom corner unit and it was awesome -looked even better than the photos. It is right on the ocean, so we heard the waves all the time. We could sit and watch the ocean from the living room or out on the huge lanai (where we spent most happy hours). There are turtles out front every day and even some whales. Great snorkeling right out front, which was very convenient. The condo was very well appointed - had everything we needed and lots of extras. The complex is very nice, clean, and tranquil. You are close to the grocery and Kaanapali and Napili, but still in a quiet lush setting. We've been to Maui many times, but now this is our favorite place. Looking forward to booking the same place for next year.
