- Very Good
A beautiful place managed by wonderful and helpful people. The food was great...the views wonderful. The unit was clean, the bed was comfortable and the maid service was great.
Our stay at Vista Mare was amazing and my husband and I would love to return there in the future. The hotel was almost empty for most of our trip, which was very nice because it felt very quiet and private. There was almost no one at the beaches and very few people in the restaurant. The food we ate during our stay was all very good. The fresh fruit in our kitchen on the day we arrived was some of the most delicious fruit I have ever tasted. Likewise, the food at the restaurant was gourmet quality, reasonably priced (us$ 9 for a pasta dish) and the service was exceptional. My husband and I speak very limited Spanish, but the friendly servers spoke some English, so this was not a problem. We also ate some delicious dinners in Samana. Vista Mare itself is an amazingly beautiful place. Each unit has a balcony that has a breathtaking view that overlooks the beach and gets plenty of sunshine all day long. The resort is built onto the side of a very steep hill which makes for incredible views from the restaurant and pool at the top of the hill. We watched whales from our breakfast table all week long. The hill drops more than 200 hundred feet from the main gate to the beach. We are young and healthy so this was not a problem for us, although I would not recommend this place for people with bad knees or who can't climb more than a few flights of stairs. The room was cleaned everyday and the maid even tended to our dishes. All the employees at Vista Mare were very friendly and very professional. Humberto and Jose, who work at the restaurant, were excellent. The front desk concierge spoke enough English to make up for our poor Spanish skills, and the maids and security guards always greeted us with a smile. Vista Mare is gated and most of the units are set back from the road. There are security guards stationed around the property, which contributed to the overall feeling of safety.
“Vista Mare is a clean, modern and relaxing little village of con”
Vista Mare is affordable, clean and has great amenities like an onsite restaurant, sundries shop, game room, pool, fitness facilities and a spa. It also has two scenic beaches with lounge chairs. The surf is a bit rough, and the road to get there is steep, so it's probably not an ideal resort for families with children. The service -- both at the restaurant and in terms of housekeeping -- was stellar. Our one-bedroom apartment had a small living room with a comfy couch and TV. The kitchen had a fridge, dishwasher, stove and pretty much every type of dish, cutlery or cooking utensil/appliance (double toaster, coffeemaker, blender) you'd need. (The fully-equipped kitchen makes this a great property for those looking to save money by cooking their own meals.) An in-unit washer/dryer was also a welcome addition. The bathroom was pretty standard, as was the bedroom. One strange thing we noticed was that there was no clock. The balcony -- which had a table and a couple of chairs, as well as sliding glass doors with entry to both the living room and bedroom -- was a perfect spot to enjoy the breathtaking views of the ocean. (It's also a great vantage point for whale-watching during the appropriate season.) The facility is surrounded by a protective gate that's manned by a guard 24/7, so we always felt safe. One thing about the resort is that it's set about a 15-minute drive from downtown Samana, where the cruise ships dock, so if you're planning to visit that area, be prepared to rent a car or arrange some other sort of reliable transportation.
“A truly wonderful week!”
We found the apartment on the Web and were just a bit leery of what we might find. So often reality does not live up to the hype and pictures in the ads. In this case, however, reality far exceeded our expectations. We spent a wonderful week in Mr. Hungria's apartment. Accommodation, setting and views, pools, beaches, restaurant and service were nothing short of exceptional.
“completely relaxing and total comfort”
Our stay at vista mare samana DR was one of best places we ever stayed. The apartment was very spacious, clean and spectacular views of the bay. the staff were outstanding and helpful .the restaurant was outstanding. Samana i believe is the best part of the island. The people are friendly and the beaches are the best. i plan to visit vista mare again this summer. I would like to thank thomas most of all for making my 10th anniversary very special. Thank you
“Beautiful views, spacious rooms, and kind staff.”
My girlfriend and I recently stayed for 5 nights at Vista Mare Samana and can't say enough about our experience. The complex is quite large, maybe 15 buildings or so. Each building contains 9 units on 3 floors. Again, that may not be exact but it's my recollection and probably close. Our condo had a very comfortable king size bed, giant shower (I mean bigger than most bathrooms), and a separate kitchen and living area. The balcony extended the length of both rooms, which was nice, and overlooked the beautiful bay. During our time there, we ate frequently in the restaurant. We found the food to be fresh, and very fairly priced. Below the restaurant was a small game room with a ping pong table and a pool table. Next to the restaurant was the pool. Also, very nice.
My family and I stayed at the Vista Mar and had a wonderful time. The apartment was spacious, clean and comfortable. The views were awesome. The beaches were beautiful and secluded. We really enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to returning.
