“You want a peaceful retreat this is the place to go...”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2012

Tucked away in the neat village of Cassagnes, Le Juchoir is a quiet mountain retreat which the modern world has left behind. An easy hours drive from Perpignan airport you climb into a haven of quiet tranquillity; surrounded by spectacular vistas and deep blue sky. The charming 2 storey terraced property has a superb kitchen diner opening out onto a sunny balcony. The lower floor hosts a large bedroom, washing facilities and shower . If you enjoy local wine, local food, a mountain atmosphere and a sense of self sufficiency this is the place for you.

“Our stay at the Le Juchoir”

Reviewed 31 Dec 2011

The property was adequate for our stay, it had been nicely renovated ! the finishings/furniture were a little basic Ideal for a couple, Outside terrace was nice to sit out for a coffee

Response from the owner We are very pleased that this guest appreciated the quality of the renovation and enjoyed the terrace. When we furnished it we spared no expense on the bed and mattress and pillows -- nothing worse than an uncomfortable bed when you're on holiday. I'll challenge anyone to find a nicer bed, even in a 5-star hotel! In the living room it is true to say that the furniture is 'basic', to the extent that we wanted the house to feel spacious and airy. So we quite deliberately avoided a large sofa, for example, which would have just taken up too much space. We still reckon that there's comfortable seating for two or three people. As for the kitchen and dining equipment, I can quite honestly say that I've only ever stayed in one self-catering holiday rental that had more: and that was a large house near Charleston, that was quite obviously a family's home out of season. There's a fairly detailed explanation of the furnishings and accessories on our website, at If anyone would like to know any more detail, then please do ask through the contact form.

“Cozy, private accommodation in a well positioned quiet French vi”

Reviewed 30 Dec 2011

This quiet retreat amidst the natural beauty and history of the Pyrenees-Orientales region was everything we were told it would be. The cozy townhouse is perfect for a couple, clean and well supplied. Kevan was very easy to deal with and provided a very comprehensive information package prior to our arrival. A peaceful village complete with a convenient small bakery/general store and great restaurant "Auberge des Capitelles" all just a short walk from the front door. The quaint village is positioned well for day trips to both the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees with lots to see and do in between.

“Small but nice house in a quiet village and beautiful countrysid”

Reviewed 30 Dec 2011

The house is simple and small, but fully equipped and enough for two persons. It is situated in a quiet and beautiful village in a fantastic landscape. From here it is close to Perpignan, to the coast and the mountains. Ideal for cyclists, who likes the mountainous terrain. In addition, there are plenty of options for sightseeing and excursions. Unfortunately, the TV reception too bad to follow the "Tour de France"... The owner ist very friendly, polite and obliging.
