“Great Time”

Reviewed 8 Jul 2015

Unforgettable week in one of the world's most incredible places. The staff (Bernie and Ronald) to the clean rooms, beautiful scenery, and warm waters of Puntaerans beach. Don't miss this spot when you come to Costa Rica

Response from the owner Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We are very pleased you enjoyed it. Rupi and Karin

“One of a kind vacation”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2015

We have stayed at the Oceano beach house from May 22 - 29, 2015 and had an unforgettable vacation. The rooms are exceptionally clean. The property is gorgeous and is a short walk directly from the property to the ocean. The beach is huge and largely private as there are very few people swimming in the vicinity (residential lots). The staff, Bernie and Ronald are VERY welcoming, helpful, and warm. They speak and understand English and have really made our stay easy and enjoyable (we even went to the market together to buy groceries, they bought them for us when we wanted, and at all times did everything we asked to ensure we're happy). A+ - Recommend it to everyone we know!

Response from the owner Thank you Donnie for your glowing review. We appreciate it and are happy you had a good vacation. Rupi and Karin

“Most relaxing vacation”

Reviewed 22 Mar 2015

We had a great vacation. Very relaxing. The accommodations were great. It felt like home away from home; only better. A beautiful and inviting swimming pool. The beach in your own backyard was amazing. It was nearly private and the sunsets can't be beat. The on-site staff (Ron and Bernie) were wonderful and very helpful. Karin and Rupi's hospitality was incredible. The local food & fruit markets and restaurants were outstanding. The house was well situated allowing many excursions. The activities and attractions are plentiful and there is something of interest for everyone. Would highly recommend Oceano for both families and adults groups. Elise & Sheldon

Response from the owner We are so happy you had a relaxing time at Oceano. That is one of our main goals for our guests. Your photo of the local food is great. I think that is Chifrio with breaded shrimp? It looks delicious. Hope to see you again.

“Great Family Vacation”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2014

Oceano is great for families and/or multiple families with kids. The private pool and beach access were great. We enjoyed morning walks on the beach, lounging on the patio, afternoon body surfing at sunset, eating meals outside on the large patio, and relaxing poolside or in the hammocks hanging below the cocconut trees. Plenty of room for multiple families with kids including private baths for each room (7). The caretakers are wonderful people and the homemade meals cooked for us were delicious! Easy access to zip-ling and surf beach adventures. House could use a painting facelift and updated linens.

Response from the owner Hola; thank you for your comments. We appreciate it very much. I am pleased you enjoyed the beach, the pool and Bernie's cooking. We try our best to please. We have just finished painting the rooms in cheerful colours and everything is looking great. Hope to see you back again. All the best Karin and Rupi

“Paradise Found...”

What an awesome week we had in Costa Rica. We were a group of four families comprised of 8 adults and 8 kids from age 2 to turned 13 while we were there. The house was absolutley perfect for our needs and had everything necessary to make our week a great one. We appreciated the helpfulness of Karen and the ease of booking. Our week was made even better by Bernie and Ronald as we always felt so well looked after. What a treat not having to cook and even having someone to lay out the hammocks for us each day. Any requests were done with a smile and a "mucho gusto"... from grocery shopping to calling cabs and to ensuring that we started and ended the day with a fantastic meal. An added bonus was the wonderful Macha who was always willing to stroll on the beach and to watch over the kids. The property was very well kept and the pool kept the grown ups cool and the kids entertained all day long. We swam in the ocean, walked on the beach and even tried our hand at body surfing. The house was well located for the endless tours and day trips in the area. You really must go feed the monkeys... it was great fun for all. A special "gracias por todo" for Bernie... mi amiga. Miss you lots! :)

Response from the owner I am always thrilled to hear when people enjoy their vacation at Casa Oceano. Your group was a pleasure to host. We especially like to hear you enjoyed the house, the service from our staff and the meals. I hope you come back to see us again sometime. Purra Vida. Karin and Rupi

“Excellent staff, perfect rustic beach house with a pool for a l”

Reviewed 8 Mar 2014

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Oceano. Many hours were spent relaxing poolside while the kids enjoyed the pool. Thank you to Bernie & Ronnie for their hospitality. We had an exceptionally comfortable & memorable stay in El Roble because of them. For 8 days, we woke up to Tica food & fresh local fruits prepared by Bernie. She makes dinner for an additional charge paid to the owner Karin. Bernie is off on Sundays, which did not pose a problem for us. It gave us a chance to sample local restaurants. Our family had a nice Sunday dinner at Costa Del Sol as per Ronnie's recommendation. Ronnie came with us to town to purchase groceries anytime we needed him too. He also took our group to see the nearby monkeys. The house comes with the most intelligent guard dog. We miss Macha so much. She instinctively kept our group safe, especially the young ones. Listed below are more pros & cons: Pros: Comfortable beds. Each room has a bathroom. Most have hot showers. Pool large enough to have 15 people in it comfortably. Well manicured front & back lawn. Beautiful sunsets off the property. Well equipped kitchen. Centrally located to see and do many CR had to offer i.e. 2hr drive to Volcan arenal, Tabacon Hot Springs & Rainmaker Rainforest, 1hr to Jaco for a nicer & cleaner beach, 7 minute ride to the monkeys, 10minute car ride + 45minute boat ride to Isla Tortuga. Karin is easily reached for questions/concerns. Cons: location. The beach had an unpleasant odor everyday! Probably from dead sea creatures (which we found during our mile beachwalks to and fro) that washes up to shore. It is not just the property's beach. It's the surrounding area. The odor made playing on the beach unpleasant. Drift wood the ocean and on the stretch of beach. Note: This I not the fault of the owners or the caretakers. Although necessary, didn't like all the videocam surrounding the property. With all the pros, I can easily overlook the cons. I recommend Oceano.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review. We are happy you had a great vacation! We thought it funny that driftwood on the beach was a con. We and most of our guests love it- it is the best BBQ wood around. Yummy for meat and seafood. Also the ocean smell is a pro for us and many people as it reminds us of happy seaside memories. The phytoplankton blooms create that smell and it directs seabirds and fish where to feed. Pura Vida, Karin and Rupi

"I spent a week at Casa Oceano in February and had a lovely relaxing time. The beach is great: I went for long walks in the morning and watched the sunset with a drink every evening. The colours were beautiful. The water in the ocean is very warm there. The pool was nice as well. The house is quite spacious and comfortable with plenty of seating. The garden has lots of tropical plants, fruits and flowers. We went to feed wild monkeys close to the house- that was fun. Even my mum enjoyed that. We had lots of fresh fish from the fish market nearby and it was delicious and so inexpensive. I would come back to Oceano again and would recommend it to my mates. "

Response from the owner Hi Kuldip; It was a pleaure hosting your group. We are very happy when someone has a good experience at Oceano. We hope you come back again. Rupi and Karin

“Our stay at the Oceano!”

Reviewed 17 Jan 2014

Me and my wife visited Costa Rica for the first time in November where we stayed at the Oceano Beach House for a total of four weeks. Given the amount we travel, this by far has been a holiday we cherish! From the serene views of breathtaking sunsets, cool breezes being enticed by the soothing sounds of the waves to the immense wild life and surrounding nature. It was truly paradise in its most authentic form; calm, relaxing and tranquil. As well as having the sandy beach only just footsteps away from the Oceano, we took pleasure in having a dip in our own personal pool that gave us a sense of privacy. Employees of the accommodation Ronald and Bernie were very welcoming, friendly and professional in the services they provided; cooking, shopping, washing and maintaining general cleanliness of the Beach House. They ensured we had a comfortable stay throughout our time. We were very well looked after! In addition to this, with the help and advice from Karin and Rupi we were able to explore Costa Rica in greater depth and appreciate the enriching experiences it had to offer. Some of our highlights being: the Manuel antonio National Park, which gave us the opportunity to explore more beaches and walking trails, we visited a local Zoo, set off to arenal Hanging Bridges capturing the tropical rainforest, zip lined through forests and finally enjoyed Las hornillas hot springs and mud baths. These are to name but a few of the many moments that were a delight. Thank you for the immense hospitality and welcome that we received and we will definitely be back again soon!

Response from the owner Thank you for your review Mr. Joshi. We are pleased you had such a memorable visit to Costa Rica and our beach house. We hope to see you back in the future.

“Perfect for our large family group!”

Reviewed 15 Jan 2014

This property was perfect for our large family. We were a group of 14 adults and two children coming in on 4 flights from all over the U.S. Owners were very responsive to our many questions and met us on arrival to give a quick orientation of the property. Rustic but very comfortable, all bedrooms are ensuite although showers have electrically heated units which need to be upgraded. Owner is aware and assures me that they are working on it. Could also use more comfortable seating areas. I understand new lounge chairs are in the works. The pool is clean and has just enough shade and sun for comfort. A short walk under the palm trees on property (if you can pass up the hammocks) brings you to the beach. Warm water, nice walks, just enough wave action for boogie boarding, beautiful sunrises and sunsets make it close to perfect. My guys caught fish the first day there and we cooked them up for dinner that night. We collected driftwood for our beach bonfires at night. It was so relaxing and peaceful. Property caretakers Bernie and Ronald are superstars. They can handle anything and are a wealth of information. For a small charge, Bernie will cook for you and clean up afterwards if you want. It is worth it. They were available to us at any hour of the day or night, always with a smile and a quick step. The 18 month old who was with us was looking for Bernie on his return to TX. Macha the property dog is so well behaved and gentle. She accompanies you to the beach and instinctively knows who is with your group. The children (and adults) just loved her. Excursions are easily arranged and drivers available although we did rent a small car for quick trips to supermarket and to see the monkeys. Puntarenas is a good location to get to activities and excursions. You may not want to leave the property though.

Response from the owner Hi JenhhiHi jen : thaHi Jen; thank you for the detailed review. Thank you for choosing our beach house for your family's vacation. We appreciate opportunities for improvement and we are currently in the process of upgrading the shower heaters. Hope to see you again in sunny Puntarenas. Karin and Rupi
