“Couldn´t be better!”

Reviewed 16 Mar 2014

We spent four lovely weeks in the villa in january this year. It was me, my wife and our son with his wife. As we were only four there was lots of room for everybody. The villa is very spacious and its interior nicelly furnished. We all thought that sometimes the description of a rental object is described in very positive words but this villa was even better than we had expected! During four weeks we woke up in the morning with a smile on our faces and went to bed with an even bigger smile! The kitchen is well equipped with a all you need to cook your own meals which we did almost once a day. The barbecue was lit many times during our stay. The pool area is fantastic! You will never get tired of the view over Hartman Bay. The pool itself is big enough so you can really swim in it. It is very nice to sit down at the small bar and have a drink or a small meal. The airport pickup worked perfect as well as everything else concerning our stay. There is one person who really did her best to make our stay so fantastic. Mrs B!! She cared for us in the best of ways and did all to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. Thank you once again!. The area is very nice and quiet. We took a walk every morning in the surounding streets. If you want to have a real nice vacation you need a car during your stay. Follow the owners advice and rent it from the firm they recomend. The best supermarket is so far away so you need a car or you have to take a taxi. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. We visited Prickly Bay Marina several times for a meal and a drink. English is not our native language, we live in Sweden, so we hope you will excuse us when it comes to spelling and grammar.

“Great home on a great island”

Reviewed 3 Jan 2013

Just had a great family vacation at this house. The owners are very helpful in answering questions and setting up logistics (airport transfers, rental cars), and the on-island housekeeper is very friendly and helpful as well. The best things about this house are its view (over the bay), location (nice quiet neighborhood and close to everything), and outdoor living areas (large terrace and great pool). The lime tree was a nice plus for drink making! The home is clean and comfortable, but not luxurious (sorry marble countertop lovers and those who need wall-mounted flat screens), but you are there to be outdoors anyway. The new refigerators (full size and a mini) looked and worked great. We would all stay here again.

“Amazing views, wonderful hospitality, perfect escape!”

We stayed here for 10 nights and from the moment we were picked up at the airport to when we left we were very well looked after. This was our first time to Grenada and also our first in the Caribbean. If you you want to explore the island it is important to have a car. There are local beaches which are 5 min walk, however if you want to go to Grand anse beach you will need a car. Our housekeeper Bernadette was wonderful. She took us to the local fish market and helped us buy amazing fresh fish, she also helped us buy some fruit and veg at the local food market. Even though we did not ask she also did our laundry and kept the place immaculate. Although there were only two of us, the house can easily accommodate 6. The kitchen was very well equipped, our only advice is to bring your dry goods, such as cereal, pasta, coffee, tea, pasta sauce as these these things are very expensive on the island. Fruit and vegetables can be bought from roadside stands. Some of our local (walking distance) recommendations are Prickly Bay Marina where there is a great pub with nightly specials and strong drinks. We also recommend going to the Mt. Hartman Estate hotel just up the road for a drink or a meal, the hotel is built into the side of the hill and has amazing views and very friendly staff. We also recommend walking down to Prickly Bay beach and walking down to the Calabash hotel and having drinks beach side. There is also amazing snorkelling right off the rocks. We had an amazing time, the local people are so friendly and willing to help if you get lost. All in all we loved it. The booking process was smooth and efficient. Nick and anna were wonderful and stayed in regular contact and provided lots of pre-holiday advice, Anna was the perfect island host once we landed and deserves a special mention.

A fabulous villa with outstanding views over Mt Hartmann bay. It is set in lush, well-attended gardens of about a half-acre, and the pool is large and beautifully positioned for sunbathing and watching the world go by. Our housekeeper, Bernadette, was fantastic, and we can both recommend the Spice of Life without hesitation. The villa is also convenient for restaurants, Grand anse Beach and shopping (there is an excellent supermarket at Spice Island Mall, a few minutes drive away). We have enjoyed 8 or 9 Caribbean holidays over the years, and this is in the top two, easily.(We were married at the other one...:))

“A great week in Grenada at The Spice of Life”

Reviewed 18 Dec 2011

We spent a week at The Spice of Life - 6 of us in all. The villa is wonderful , with the amazing views over the bay, spacious, airy rooms, all spotlessly clean, furnished with everything you could possibly need - a lot of thought has gone into making the guests' stay comfortable and welcoming. Being within just a few minutes' drive from plenty of bars and restaurants meant we took advantage of these most evenings, the local food was always good and the locals are really friendly. For a couple of evenings we stayed at the villa and delighted in watching the fire-flies in the trees just as the sun went down, then a barbecue on the patio, some music and a bit of a dance - fuelled by the local rum no doubt! A big thank you and congratulations to the villa's owners and those who maintain it for making our holiday absolutely lovely.

“A Little piece of Heaven...”

From the moment we arrived we got a warm welcome; and a very friendly and helpful service - which continued throughout the holiday. The villa exceeded expectations. The owners had thought of everything, so we relaxed and had a wonderful, care free time! The villa is beautiful: comfortable, modern, spacious - and cool. The views across the bay and beyond were spectacular: sailing boats, palm trees, blue sky turquoise waters, stunning sun rise and sunsets, dark stormy clouds followed by rainbows...and then sunshine! As the day ended the patio was a great place to chill, chat and listen to music while sampling some of the best rum around! Regular visitors included: beautiful little humming birds, dancing fireflies, many little lizards, Osprey flying above the pool...A few steps down and you're beside the blue mosaic pool... swimming in rain showers, cooling off when it's hot, or watching the sun set over the island until finally the sky becomes a soup of stars! There's a garden a few steps down from the pool, we got a good photo of quite a big lizard - don't' forget your camera! Boat trips, snorkelling adventures, bird watching, beach combing, touring around, visiting the fish market -brought on a good appetite. Dining in or out there's a lot of choice. A well equipped kitchen - meant fantastic home made meals [Andy's tuna and red snapper "fresh from the sea straight on BBQ” a treat]. We also tried some fine dining at the "Calabash" a 10 minute walk and the "Red Crab” - we dined here more than once! The villa was well maintained by Bernadette, who really made us feel at home. Happy to share her local knowledge and some good shopping tips - nothing was too much! A fantastic break, highly recommended. Might be worth considering some signage showing the name of the road and a couple of handrails/rope handles alongside the steps down to the pool for those unsteady on their feet. The Spice of Life - a fab place! Thanks a million

“Absolutely wonderful, you will want to come back.”

We had a fantastic holiday at the Spice of Life. It's a short drive from the airport (10 mins) so you don't have to wait long to start your holiday. When you walk in you are immediately hit by the stunning view of Hartman Bay. The lounge is absolutely enormous so with 6 of us staying we still had masses of space. The terrace is great place to spend an evening, you always seem to get a good breeze and it's a great place to enjoy a BBQ. If you are eating in we would recommend a trip to the fish market, it's a great experience and great value for money. If you are eating out there is a Gary Rhodes restaurant within a 10 mins walk or 2 mins drive or the Red Crab is definitely worth a visit and it you like sushi you must try Carib Sushi! We really enjoyed the scuba diving and would recommend aquanauts, saw lots of turtles, eagle rays and nurse sharks. For beaches Grand anse or BBC beach. An absolute must is a snorkeling trip with First Impressions
