“Location with Capital 'L'”
I stayed here for a week and found the apartment to be delightfully light and airy with a lovely view over Square D'Anvers. the lounge is elegantly furnished and the kitchen tiny but well equipped. And who wants to eat at home when in Paris! this apartment is all about Location with a capital "L". Everything is incredibly convenient with the Metro only a minute's walk and likewise the hop on/hop off sight seeing buses. Cafes, restaurants and speciality shops selling amazing cheeses, pastries, meats and pies abound in nearby streets. We especially enjoyed the fantastic mini quiches from Rose Bakery in Rue Des Martyrs. Another appealing aspect is the neighborhood is quiet and predominantly inhabited by locals even though just minutes away crowds of tourists fill the streets leading up the hill to Sacre Coeur and Mont Martre. We look forward to staying again if we have the chance and would thoroughly recommend.
“Cozy small apartment”
First at all, is 25 mts away from metro station, and 10 minuts walk from Gare du Nord, thats great, a food market is in front every thursday, and saturdays and sundays a big antiques market is in the park in front of the apartment, funny, and 5 minuts walk to Sacre Coeur. The apartment is small, normal for the parisian standars, in a 4th floor with a tiny lift, that makes the work, the neiborhoods are quiet, and the park in front is close at nigth, so you can have a good rest. The only compliance is the bathroom with a bathtub and small and uncomfortable shower, but plenty of hot water. Breefly.. Is a good choice for the money, excelent for 2 good for 4 people.
“2nd time around!”
My sister and I again had our second experience of Barbara's great apartment. Another enjoyable week, arriving on the Friday in time to buy fab food for our dinner at the table overlooking the park. The location is perfect, using the metro or bus or walking down to the Moulin Rouge for dinner and show, so easy. Booking again for next year, so much to see and enjoy in Paris.
“Romantic stay with a view”
We spent three nights in this beautiful place. The interior is impeccable and the view complements it very well. You actually see the top of Eiffel tower with its projector at night. We found that place Tertre is a very lively place at night and we were able to walk around the area all the way to Grand Boulevards at night - this is Paris as we have imagined it. The area is very reminiscent of "The Midnight in Paris" and, believe me, miracles do happen there. The metro station, Anvers, is not very useful, but other stations are within a close walk. If you're inclined to take breakfast outside, go to the Corso bar (away from boulevard).
“Perfect Home while in Paris”
With two adult children, we recently stayed at this charming apartment. You have to try the cutest elevator. The location was perfect, and could not be better. In the tiny apartment, the dishwasher was a bonus - kids immensely appreciated it. The kitchen was "fully" equipped and did not let me miss a single item at home. At night, wide awake with jetlag, we went out for a walk, not knowing what to expect. We walked up to the Sacred Coeur to suprisingly find the city fully awake and lit up with percussion band. We were lucky to enjoy the open market right outside of the apartment, as we arrived on Friday when the market opened. We read Barbra's book on history of the apartment. All in all, this apartment gave us memory to last. Thank you, Barbara. A note to future travellers: take time to get a response to your request from Barbara. When Barbara got back to me after a few days since I sent my request, I already paid for another apartment. Luckily for me, I was able to cancel the reservation with full refund. For a short stay, this apartment gave us all conveniences - location and the furnishings. Although it was a little more money, it was worth it. Superb!
“Atmosfera molto parigina e tutto molto semplice”
After experiencing a hotel room in another location which was small and cramped, Barbara's apartment at Place D'anvers was very comfortable in a wonderful location. It was close to the Metro, Sacre Coeur and Rue de Matrys, which is a wonderful shopping strip with many cafes and shops. The view of the park is lovely, the kitchen very functional and the apartment was warm - we were there over Christmas. The apartment also has a bath, which was a godsend after a day out walking! Barbara was always prompt in replying to emails and courteous and generous. Tom and his partner, who greeted us on arrival, were also very helpful with advice on where to shop for groceries etc. The apartment provided exactly the kind of Paris experience we had hoped for!
“A fantastic place to return to from being in Paris”
Service: booking was straightforward despite my anxiety of giving money to a stranger on the Internet I was reassured by using PayPal. Owners communication by email was excellent and full information was quickly given. We arrived at the apartment a little early to find Tom fixing the blind in the bedroom. The place is just perfect and the pictures on the web page don't do it justice. We took a taxi from Charles de Gaulle e50 covered the trip with a tip. We had 4 large bags and I am partially sighted so it seemed a stress free choice. In our first few hours we were amazed by the surrounding shops and atmosphere Montmartre has to offer. The area is pleasent with the Pigali far enough away not to impact at all. Supermarket is 5 minutes walk, butchers, bakers, all couple hundred yards away. As are a miriad of retaurants some better value than others. A street painter let us know where he ate - they don't speak English but they know how to cook! We cooked our first meal in the superbly equipped kitchen. The gas hob is a treat to use, and clean afterwards. Dishwasher, fridge, and oven all nicely organised. Fully equipped utensils. It feels as if someone has let me stay in their house rather than just equip a kitchen for the rental market. A short walk at 8pm-ish took us to the Sacre Coeur Basilica which was a delight. It was really busy with a good natured crowd, a group singing, and a beautiful November night only Paris could provide. We can see the top of the Eiffel Tower from the sofa with its search light illuminating the slight haze, and the park gives a nice open space to stare at and contemplate the next great adventure. Taxi to the Louvre was e8 and e20 with tip to Eiffel Tower. We walked from the Champs Élysées to the apartment in about 45 minutes but stopped to window shop and look at the sights. A determined walker could do this in less time. I can not reccomend this apartment strongly enough. I feel safe comfortable and very very happy.
Having read Barbara's book at least five times I therefore knew the apartment very well! The park view and glimpse of the eiffel tower top are all there as promised and after a day of walking taking a bath is perfection and obviously a luxury - so buy nice bubbles. In the week we spent it was a pity my sister and I did not hold a dinner party, as it's all there for the making. Being seconds away from the Tourist bus stop is fantastic, only 34 euro for a 2 day pass and that links to all 4 Tourist areas - helps if it's raining! The location is perfect walk across the road and start your trip up to the Sacre Coeur but visit the non- souvenir shops on the bottom road before you ascent! Friday night market food is not be missed, wonderful quality. Will be making plans for a longer visit next year.
“Lovely apartment in perfect location”
Lovely apartment in a fantastic location. Next door to metro anvers station, walking distance to Moulin Rouge and Sacre Couer. I would stay again. Very easy to check in and out. Owner very helpful and sends out clear instructions.
