“Awesome location, perfect place for the getaway/hideaway.”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2010

When it came time to leave, my wife had to pull me out, with me kicking and screaming "I"m not gonna leave!" all the way to the airport. The house/cottage had everything you needed, just like walking into your own home. We even got to feed the two fish in the aquarium :-) Just a short, easy walk through a couple of backyards, over the creek on a bridge and you are at the beach ... all of which is magnificent beauty in itself. We took the beach chairs, towels, boogie board, snorkel gear, noodles, whatever they had and we 'needed' with us. Found 'our' spot on the east (right) side under a huge tree that provided all day shade. We walked right past a huge sea turtle sunning himself on the beach. Most of the time we were the only ones on the beach, even if there was somebody else, it is a large bay, you still felt alone. The drive in should require a high clearance vehicle (four wheel drive maybe if it is really raining hard, just get an SUV or Jeep) but, it is a single lane dirt road the last bit of the way ... which just aided the sense of remoteness. We had no problem getting in and out, just planned our day around the in and out. There isn't a grocery/convenience store nearby so we just planned that accordingly as well. They also had a backpack (which we used daily), umbrellas (which we never needed), all the pots, pans, microwave and kitchen stuff that you would typically find in your own cottage. The huge/mammoth tree in the backyard covers a huge part of the lagoon, and provides you with an awesome shaded retreat with amazing solitude. The Star fruit were ripe, we'd never had any before, we took advantage ... yum. We were there for 8 nights, we ran out of time ... we never got a chance to get in the pool, heck we had the ocean. More left to do the next time. Moloa'a Bay is the perfect Kauai location, lush valley without the excessive rain of the north side, yet close enough to everything around the island. We'll be back!

“Truly a home away from home.”

Wonderful, Peaceful, Private and Remote. The home is definitely off the beaten path - which we welcomed. No traffic, no noisy people; just a lush green paradise. Linda and Tom were excellent hosts, and I would highly recommend the experience of staying here. The property does not lack a thing; we were very comfortable and enjoyed taking care of the resident fish in the aquarium. The kayak ride to the ocean through the lagoon was great fun. Hiking around Moloa'a Bay provided scenic views of the ocean and the area, and talk about awesome sunrise photography possibilities! Breathtaking views from the trail to the egret sanctuary.

“Perfect low key beautiful vacation place”

We've been to Summers Hale 4 times and truly love being here~ Moloa'a Bay is stunning & incredibly private~ The Infinity pool is like icing on the cake...can't believe how much we love sitting in it and enjoying everything around us. The cottage is well equipped and a perfect low key, relaxing place to be~ We just don't like leaving! Peace
