“Home away from home, Great stay!”
Our stay here was absolutely wonderful! We enjoyed every minute. The house is beautiful and so comfortable. We had everything we needed. They even provided us with a pack n play. Eating dinner on the deck after a full day was a real treat. The hummingbirds that greeted us every morning, the friendliest cat that my kids adored, the hill behind the house we hiked up, the comfortable beds and spacious rooms, great kitchen and laundry room, cozy and beautiful living room, everything about this house made our stay just perfect! Thank you so much for all the thought and details that you put into this home. We highly recommend staying here and would definitely come again!!
Response from the owner We are thrilled that you and your family enjoyed your stay. We hope that you choose to stay at our home again if you decide to return to the area in the future.
“Great for relaxing or a base of exploration”
A very lovely and spacious house tucked up against the butte. Beautiful master suite and large well appointed kitchen and living room. Gas grill was convenient for a quick dinner of steaks and fries after a day of exploration. We never felt cramped. And a "to die for" porch. Jody was eager to talk on the phone about the house and services available in the town. Convenient access to national parks/monuments is what drew us to the house. Bryce NP - 1 1/2 hour; Zion - 1 hr; Coyote Buttes/White Pocket/slot canyon - 1 hr; Grand Staircase Escalante - southwest corner 10 minutes away. Each of these is different, but all are beautiful. Lots of hiking opportunities (easy or difficult) within 15 minutes. If we didn't have such a full agenda of exploration, it would have been a perfect place for kicking back and watching the world go by. We would definitely stay there again if in the area.
Response from the owner How wonderful to hear that you and your family took every opportunity to explore and to appreciate the spectacular beauty of the area. Thank you for your thoughtful review of the accommodations. We are so glad that you all were comfortable after a long day of play! Hope you left Kanab with many wonderful family memories of Southwest Utah.
“Red Rock Bliss”
This is a really perfect home to stay in for at least a week if not longer, while on vacation with your family in Southern Utah. My husband and I were visiting Kanab in January 2014 with the goal of checking out the place to see if that is where we would like to retire. We found Jody and Mike amacher's home and liked the size and price because initially we planned to have my sister with us, and wanted a bit larger space. My sister's plans fell through, and we were faced with either staying in a home that was really larger than we needed, or forfeiting our deposit and cancelling the trip. Jody let us rent the Mother-in-law suite (instead of the larger main part of the home), and the suite turned out to be absolutely perfect for just my husband and I. It has everything we needed for a week's stay, including close proximity to hiking (within walking distance), beautiful views (outside the front and back door literally!), National Parks (Zion, Brianhead, Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Coral Sand Dunes, The "wave", Antelope Canyon, the list goes on and on!!) and downtown Kanab where we could shop or eat at a restaurant if we wanted to. The weather in January was moderate: 40-50 degrees in the daytime, definitely hiking weather!!! Next fall or winter we hope to bring our family down and rent the larger main part of the home for a few days. You can't miss on this house and location. It is in a quiet neighborhood with lots of wildlife walking through the property, quiet neighbors and beautiful red rock cliffs in the immediate back yard. A large three car garage is available along with plenty of parking space and lots of extra space for RVs. There is also a washer and dryer there, a beautiful large deck and a fenced in front yard and back area by the garage. Thanks, Jody and Mike, for making this available, making it so easy to rent, and being so nice to us!
Response from the owner Kim, We are pleased that you had an enjoyable time on your visit to Kanab. Your kind review of your stay at our vacation home is truly appreciated. It sounds like the in-law suite was the perfect option for you, and we were glad to accommodate your specific needs. We gladly welcome you again in the future on your next trip back to Kanab. Warmest Regards. Mike and Jody
“Beautiful home set in stunning scenery.”
Booking was easy and communication prior to vacation was good. Directions to house & key box were fine. House is exceptionally spacious and really well equipped. We loved the outdoor deck with the high table & bar stools. Really well situated for Bryce & Zion.
Response from the owner Anthea, Thank you for choosing to stay at our home; we are so glad that you enjoyed your time in Kanab and were able to explore the spectacular region. Warmest Regards, Jody and Mike Amacher
“Perfect accommodations for Our Group - Better than I anticipated”
The location of this house is absolutely perfect as a base for traveling to Bryce National Park, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park and Lake Powell and Horseshoe Bend in the Paige area. We left out from the house each day refreshed and returned in time to cook dinner at the house. There were six in our group and although the main house would more than adequately accommodate six, we were traveling with a Korean couple and decided to secure the attached in-law suite so they could cook their preferred food in their kitchen and have their own private bathroom. It was a wonderful arrangement. Our group had early risers and late sleepers which is often a problem, but the layout of the house allowed each group to move around late at night or early in the morning without disturbing the others. That was a real plus for us! The neighborhood is a relaxing and beautiful place for taking walks and the neighbors we met were friendly and easy going. In fact, we found all of the Kanab people to be friendly, helpful and even patient with our non-English speaking family members. We felt right at home. Watching the birds and rabbits in the morning while we had breakfast on the porch was a favorite for me. The humming birds were particularly amusing. The porch area was also great for cooking dinner on the grill. I saved the best for last . . . the homeowners are incredible. From the first contact to the last, everything went smoothly. Every step of the transaction was clear and easy, and I never wondered if things were going to turn out poorly. I'm the one who generally secures homes for our travels and I can't remember a better transaction or a better home. Thank you, Jody and Mike! Everyone agreed your home was the best they stayed in during our 16 day trip.
Response from the owner Lona, we are so glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay at our vacation home. Your thoughtful comments regarding the layout of our home was very appreciative, and will be helpful to future guests. Thank you for choosing to stay at our home and we hope to accommodate you and your family again. Warmest Regards. Jody and Mike
