“Best Vacation ever! Five Glowing Stars!”
For our 40th anniversary we decided to take our 2 daughters & their families to acadia. After looking at dozens of homes, I discovered this one that sounded perfect. We were surprised at how spacious, open, and airy it was inside. The house was lovely, clean & comfortable with much thought put into details. We mostly ate in, rather that take the littles out to dinner; the kitchen was well equipped with plenty of room to work. We also used the gas grill. We left the cottage before 9 each morning, and drove to our daily destinations: Swimming at Echo Lake. Bike Riding around Witch Hole Pond and Eagle Lake. Picking Blueberries. Driving Park Loop Road & up Cadillac Mt. Bar Harbor with a walk to Bar Island at low tide. Walked the Shore Walk. Spent an am in Northeast Harbor & Thuya Gardens and an am in Southwest Harbor where we got fresh blueberry pie at the Quietside Cafe. We would then come back mid afternoon to put the littles in for naps. This was the time we adults could rest, read on the screened in porch, walk along the beach, or ride bike locally. The Cove is beautiful, and ever changing. Beachcombing was a big hit with all of us! After dinner in the evening, we went to places close by: Wonderland Trail, Twice to the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. And even one evening to the local school playground for the kids. We had the privilige of meeting the owners who were staying near by. One day Peter installed a DVD which we used in the evenings. Another time a screen blew off & he immediately replaced it. Coming from hot, muggy pa in august, we weren't sure about not having aC. We never needed it. There is always a wonderful breeze coming off the cove, the house was always cool & some nights actually got cold and we had to close windows. From the quiet, peaceful mornings, to the dazzling sunsets...and everything in between, Acadia & this cottage are truly magical! We would recommend this property to anyone & we hope to come back again some day.
Response from the owner Steve & Dar, Thank you so much for sharing your experience - and what more can we hope for than 'best vacation ever!' That's wonderful. And we especially enjoy that you were able to include outings to some of our favorite places - you certainly made the most of your stay! Happy Anniversary!
“Great week at Seaside Cottage”
Everything was wonderful. The house is very comfortable, plenty of room for our family of 5 (3 kids ages 5, 10, 12). The kids loved spending time exploring the cove. Only thing that could have been added would have been a dvd player (kids would have liked to watch a movie in the evening). There were plenty of family games availabe, though, along with the ping pong table. The location is very calm and peaceful, but be aware that to get to anything you will need to drive (we added a couple of hundred miles to our car driving to Bar Harbor, various trails in acadia, etc.). Despite this, we would return to this house if we ever travel to this area again.
Response from the owner Thanks Tracy! It's true, Acadia has a lot to offer, whether enjoying the cove, cottage, and nearby trails or driving about and seeing all there is to see. And we will add a DVD player to the new flat-screen cable TV and game table in the rec room - thanks for the suggestion. We're glad you enjoyed your stay!
“A perfect setting for any acadia getaway”
This was our third year renting on Mount Desert Island from the Cutrones, and our first year staying in acadia Sunset. The photos of the cottage don't quite give justice to the setting on Duck Cove on the "quiet side" of MDI. The rolling green lawn down to the rocky cove coastline is magical, and sunsets truly are amazing from the porch. The amenities in the cottage are perfect for a few days or week-long stay. Everything is always clean and neat upon arrival, all furniture and rugs in very good condition. The bed in the master bedroom is delightfully comfortable, and the two upstairs bedrooms are charming. The kitchen layout is spacious and the downstairs ping pong table remains a hit with the kids every year. All of this combined with the excellent communication and helpfulness of the Cutrones guarantees that we will be back!
Response from the owner Thank you for sharing your experience, Joanne!
“A Real Maine Experience!”
Beautiful cottage with lovely (ever changing) water views! More than we expected...the cottage was comfortable, peaceful, and well appointed. The highlights included, the screened In porch, ping pong room, private bathrooms and WiFi. Loved the location! It is close enough to many of the local attractions yet, when you come back for the day...ahh! Truly, there were many times this cottage just made us say...ahh. A perfect Maine experience.
Response from the owner So great, Beth -- we're happy you had a restorative break at Acadia Sunset. Thank you so much for sharing your experience, too. All the best -- Joy & Peter
“The perfect place for an acadia-loving family.”
This was our 2nd time staying at this great place and it was just as great this time as last Sept. First, you can't beat being right on the water--exploring the beach, watching the wildlife and, of course, the sunsets. We have been hiking acadia for years and the location of the cottage is perfect. We can go out for a quick hike on the quiet side or spend the day out hiking, eat dinner in Bar Harbor or Southwest Harbor and be home ready to recharge for the next day. Great restaurants are close by or you can buy live lobsters and steam theme at home! It's a great place for families--plenty of room for our 6-yr old's stuff, his love of exploring and a nice yard for a catch. And the owners are teriffic to work with--the process is simple. We highly recommend it and hope to be back agan next year.
Response from the owner R, MB & J: we appreciate the appreciation. And we look forward to welcoming you back next year!
“Memorable peaceful stay in beautiful location near arcadia Natio”
Joy and Peter Cutrone have a well maintained and fully equipped home on Duck Cove. The cottage is clean and spacious, and the home is located in a more private area of Mount Desert Island. Yet, it is easy to drive to all the attractions of acadia. We enjoyed the balance of rest and relaxation with the outdoor adventures of the area. The Cutrone's have a binder in the home with area attractions, and they were available by phone and internet to answer questions. Trip of a lifetime for us!
“Location and home fit our needs perfectly.”
Peter and Joy were great to work with. Relatives nearby were readily available had any concerns arisen. The home worked great to share with family - each bedroom having its own bathroom. Water location is great (we did not mind steep steps to the beach). Beach great for exploring. Close to both acadia National Park trails, Southwest Harbor very close and not bad drive to Bar Harbor. The ping pong table in the basement was great addition, especially if hitting a rainy day!
“We enjoyed a quiet and comfortable week with wonderful sunsets a”
Great home with lots of room including a game room downstairs. The beds were all comfortable, kitchen very suitable for indoor cooking and dining. Lots of light, airy and we could get the internet at different times on our laptop. Close enough to acadia N.P., and Bar Harbor--but not too close. What I enjoyed most was waking up early (before the boys) listening to the sound of the cove waters, walking down the steps to the rocks and looking for things--starfish, shells and such.
We got 4 professionals (my wife and 2 kids) to coordinate a vacation and this was the perfect spot. This home is walk-in ready for vacationers and was spotless, convenient, far enough away from crowds, and care-free. Service, Scheduling, and the Details were all well handled by the Cutrones. The area was a hoot: we hiked, whale watched, toured, and relaxed. We have done rentals in other parts of the country, but this was by far the best.
