It was ok ! An average stay but I wouldn't stay for that price of almost $500.00! The screen door was broken and lastly my wife slipped and hurt her back and wrist on the driveway! It's not worth the stay and thinking of sueing!
“Good cabin - Bad web site”
This cabin would have gotten four stars had it not been for the crappy web site and check in. The web interface its horrible, and the communication is non-existent. That said, the cabin was perfect. Cozy and well appointed. Ready access to both ski areas, and the lake. If you can brave the reservation procedure, this is a great cabin.
Response from the manager We are sorry to hear about your experience you had with our website. With that being said we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your time at Bear Cub.
“This cabin was perfect!”
We stayed for Thanksgiving and didn't want to leave! The living areas and kitchen are much larger than shown in the photos, with plenty of room. Even though the weather was cold, the cabin was warm and the water was hot. We were pleasantly surprised to find not only linen and towels, but personal care items and everything needed in the kitchen except your own food. Check-in and check-out are fast and easy.
“Cozy cabin in Big Bear”
My family stayed at the Bear Cub during a recent weekend trip to Big Bear. We had an excellent stay from beginning to end. The staff at check-in were courteous, efficient, and helpful, and the cabin itself was exactly what we were looking for. Although nothing to talk about from the outside, the inside was lovely and cozy. The fireplace, appliances, and TV were in perfect working order, and the cabin was well-appointed (loved the King bed!). My daughter very much appreciated the art supplies and games!
“Our cabin was comfortable and spacious as well as being easy to”
We enjoyed our stay at the Bear Cub. We were up in BB for the Seven Stars Foundation Run for Freedom which is help each year on the last Saturday of the month. Our cabin was comfortable, spacious and easy to find. It was close to town and right off the main road. It was easy to check in and out of. The service was good. The television reception was poor, but we didn't really drive all the way up that mountain to watch television.
This cabin was very cozy and the beds were extra comfy. Everything was clean and orderly and they supplied just about everything you'll need...even toothpaste & towels! The location was close to the main street and we even walked to Starbucks and back one morning. There are a couple things that we did not like though: the walls are very very thin. You could hear everything in the room next to us. The master bedroom was very small and not much walking room. The porch could have had better chairs so and the BBQ didn't work. Overall, it was a great deal and my family and I had a great time. There is no Wifi but it was actually better because we got to bond with our teenagers a bit :) Cool Cabin employees were great and it was a very easy process. I for sure recommend this cute little 70's style place!
We were there last Oct. & liked the cabin, but it needed some attention. Has the owner done anything to improve the lights in living room & cleaning the sofa. They were both a problem for us. Thanks, Carol
“Short from pefect yet Still an Enjoyable Stay.”
Clean and comfortable stay, yet there where a few problems resulting from use. The screen on front door needed repair, electrical outlet plate in kitchen was detached from electrical box, heater in bathroom did not work and DVD player broke down while used. Despite these problems, our family stay was very enjoyable. Place was clean and dust free, beds & sofa very comfortable, Propane was filed on BBQ, all other devices worked perfectly. I would not only recommended this cabin (once these repairs are made) to friends, I would also select this cabin again for a return stay this year.
“Cozy, comfortable cabin”
Bear Cub is a nice little cabin just outside of town. The cabin was very clean and well-maintained. The driveway is a little tricky because it's located just below the crest of a hill and it's very difficult to see oncoming traffic. Its also steep, and short. The neighbors are quite close, with a small yard. However, there are lots of trails in the area, so the yard wasn't a concern to us. The two bedrooms are very small, but also very clean. The master bedroom had a nice, comfortable king-sized bed which takes up most of the room. In the master, there is also a tiny, little mirror on the wall with a very small light (sort of a little Christmas tree light). It was very difficult to apply makeup so, if you're a woman, I recommend a lighted makeup mirror! When we first arrived, the bathroom light was not working. We contacted the office and they were over by the end of the day to repair the light switch. My only complaint about the cabin was the furniture in the living room. The white couch is extremely stained, as are a number of the chairs in the room. The couch is, unfortunately, the first impression of the cabin because it's located beside the front door. I took a spare sheet and covered it because it really seemed dirty and old. I also moved all the old pillows to a corner of the room. If I were the owner, I'd replace the sofa and at least one of the chairs immediately. Other than the stained furniture, we absolutely loved our time at Bear Cub.
It was all nice and clean. We felt what in a genuine mountain cabin feels like. The best part was that they sent a repairmen at 7 pm to fix the heater.
