Private heated swimming pool with adjacent dining area plus extensive ground floor exterior lounge and games area including foosball table, ping pong table and cornhole (sandbag) game. Also 2 Sun-Dolphin Aruba 10' kayaks and Mongoose Brutus 26" fat tire beach bikes right at the house!

BEACH VIEW, BEACH ACCESS AND BEACH QUALITY:

Be sure that beach VIEW really means a GREAT beach view and that you are located so close to the beach that you can actually hear the waves! Many of the home rental listings on the island use vague terms such as "just steps to the beach", "a very short walk to the beach", "just minutes from the beach" or "a stone's throw from the beach" to give the impression that they are located very close to the beach when they actually are not. "The Compass Rose" is located just 50 yards from the best/widest beach on the island. There is a BIG difference between getting a VERY LIMITED beach view 500 yards from the beach and a GREAT beach view with surf sounds just 50 yards from the beach. So always verify each property's EXACT location!

Another key beach consideration is beach ACCESS. See "Gulf Beach Access Map" in the listing's photos. The ONLY public beach access to the Gulf beach (with allowed golf cart parking) is located at the end of Butterfly Shell Drive. “The Compass Rose” is located only 50 yards from and a very short walk to the Public Beach Access. Renters from other homes on the island need to drive to the Public Beach Access with all of their beach gear loaded on their golf carts! So always verify each property's STREET!

The last key beach consideration is beach QUALITY: there are some sections of the Gulf beach that have become so eroded that they are unusable (see photo in the "Gulf Beach Access Map"), specifically in front of the following streets: Sea Air Lane, Oro Pesos Lane, Hidden Lane, Hodgepodge Lane and Escondido Lane. So again always verify each property's STREET!

"The Compass Rose" is a fabulous deal compared to 4-bedroom beachfront rentals on the island. Being only 50 yards from the beach and with unobstructed views from most angles, "The Compass Rose" is just like beachfront. And when you add in all of the amenities that are offered, the end result is a price/value combination that just can't be beat!

Pamper yourself with the finest amenities in this 4000 sq. ft. (2500 under air), 4 bdrm. dream beach house spread out over 5 levels. You can indulge yourself in countless luxury appointments such as the fine goose down comforters, terrycloth bathrobes, dreamy bedroom settings and a fully-equipped gourmet kitchen by Kraft-Maid with Jenn-Air cook top, Nespresso espresso/cappuccino maker, a crock pot and full selection of pots/pans and mixing bowls. Bathed in warm natural earth tones, the recurrent theme is one of a distant island getaway, featuring an array of exotic materials such as bamboo, teak and natural fibres complemented by a selection of tasteful antiques.

The main living area has a 15 feet high cathedral ceiling with bamboo lattice designed to simulate a tiki hut, complete with its own bar, sofas with top grain imported Italian leather, Persian rug and 19th century accent pieces. The latest electronic and entertainment features add to your enjoyment, including high speed wireless internet, 4 flat screen TVs, a DirecTV satellite dish with over 200 channels and a vast VHS video/board games library.

Due to the special upside down design of the home, the bedroom level is lower down and the living levels are higher up, thereby affording great views from the areas where you spend the most time. There are also decks on 4 levels (2 of which are screened).The views will remain with you forever: the rooftop patio, at a height of nearly 40 ft. above ground level, offers 360 degree views of the Gulf of Mexico, Captiva Pass and the State Land Preserve.

The house rental also includes all linens and towels (house + beach), beach umbrellas, consumables such as toilet paper and cleaning supplies, and clean-up after departure. For young children, we also have a high chair, crib and pack 'n play.

You can rent additional bikes/kayaks plus boats, jet skis, paddle boards and fishing rods at "Boats and Fun" right here on the island!

Getting around

There are no cars on North Captiva Island, so you get around by golf cart (1 cart included with each rental). 2nd golf cart required for groups between 6 and 10 guests (additional cost of $280 + sales tax). There are 4 restaurants on the island open to the public (i.e., Club membership not required): Mainstay/Barnacle's, Over The Waterfront, The Boathouse and Mango's. Reservations recommended before you arrive!

Interaction with guest

North Captiva Island is located near Fort Myers Regional South West (RSW) airport. There is a taxi service to bring you from the airport to the dock for the water taxi. The water taxi trip is approximately 20 minutes. Parking available at the water taxi dock for guests driving to Florida. When you arrive on the island, you will be personally greeted by our caretakers. They will bring you, your luggage and groceries right to the house! They live on the island and are available at all times to assist you.
