“Nice place but watch out for your deposit!”

Reviewed 7 Jul 2015

This place is nice and quite with a heavenly scenic view for sure. I have stayed here for couple days. It is also very close to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We had great time day time outside and stayed for the two nights at the cabin. Cabin has many items for kids and everything looks in good shape. However loft area was very dusty, I could not sleep there. My bad experience was with the cleaning lady and the back charge. I felt very bad about loosing my deposit when expecting thanks. I stay in similar cabins at least 2-3 times in a year and this is the first time I lost my deposit. I guess there were lessons to be learned: 1-We arrived home at 3:45 pm when the normal check-in time is 4:00 pm and cabin was not ready! Cleaning lady said there was messy group before and she was working extra to clean and load the 5-6 bags of trash. She looked very frustrated and she had her son with her as well. We waited for her and even helped her and she finished at 4:25 and it was not a big deal for us and did not call the owners. LESSON 1 : Call them so they would know because when you tell them at the end, they are saying " you should have told us" as if it is going to make any difference! 2-We cleaned the dishes and the kitchen, set up exactly the same as we found the dining table, remove the sheets and left them in the laundry room and collect all the garbage and took out the trash , put back the movie we watched its original place and checked out 15-20 min late. The same cleaning lady was just arrived. We talked to her about how we left the place neat and she said she still had to rub and clean the Jacuzzi in the room and we told her that we even did not use it! Afterwards we asked her to take our picture and we left at 10:25 and thought that would be OK! LESSON 2: It is not ok! Call the owners and tell them what happened. They will use it against you to keep your deposit even though you checked-in late because of late cleaning. 3- Since we cleaned and left everything way better than the previous renters, we were expecting to get our deposit back! LESSON 3: Wrong! Make sure you walk through with the cleaning lady and ask her approval if everything is ok and its place and whether you could get your $200 deposit back or not. We were blamed to be responsible of missing sheets! Why would we want to take the sheets that hundreds people used. After our stay here we went to Niagara Falls and spent a few more days in Canada where I don`t have any phone service. It was very disappointing to learn on my return home that my deposit was gone and flipkey said I can not claim after 48 hours. I talked to the owners and told them my story and first they said they were going to discuss about about it. I also told them that I do not trust the cleaning lady since she was very frustrated both during the check-in and check-out time. After I called them againg they said they will keep my deposit because of missing items and checking out late. Even I told them the opposite since they were already taken the money there was nothing I can do. Long story short, the cabin has a great location but I am very sorry to have this unfair $200 charge stuck in my mind more than my stay in there. Take photos and walk through the owners/cleaners if you can. Don`t expect you will be excused because of checking out 15-20 min because you checked-in late because of them. This is still a nice cabin especially for the price but just watched out these lessons. I fell in love with Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg but I won`t stay here again for sure.

Response from the owner Fortunately in the last 5 years, this is our first time to retain a security deposit at either of our cabins in Wears Valley. The majority of our guests are respectful of our property and the guidelines for checkout that we post at the cabin, so we have never had to pursue this. Based on missing King sheets that have not been returned, the condition in which the property was left and a late checkout that impacted our cleaning staff for turnaround time, we made a difficult decision to retain the security deposit. Flipkey also has a policy to investigate any issues as we found out with this incident, and their decision was to retain the deposit as well. We are aware that reviews can be retaliatory for decisions like this, and we are sorry to have to disagree with the points of this one that represents the situation differently than what occurred. We love the vacation business and our other reviews reflect the effort we and our staff put into making the experience a good one for our guests. By far, the majority of our guests appreciate this and return in kind by respecting our property and our policies and for this we are grateful! We have many repeat guests over the years which validates the high standards we strive for at our properties.

“Spectacular views !!!”

Reviewed 17 Apr 2014

We go to Pigeon Forge at least 2 times a year. We have tried a lot of different cabins and locations. This cabin by far was the cleanest and best equipped. We usually take our own water. This is not necessary as the water is great. As for the road; it is a two lane up the mountain. We actually booked the cabin again for October; so we can enjoy the fall foliage and the views. The owners (Rick and June) were very accommodating. We thank the owners for letting us enjoy their cabin. Thanks again!!!

Response from the owner Yes, the water is well water and in all our travels, it is the best tasting water we have found. The front photo we have posted is the view off the balcony in the Fall. It doesn't do it justice - really, really gorgeous at that time of the year.

“Most Relaxing anniversary Trip Ever”

Reviewed 15 Feb 2014

We celebrated our 7th anniversary in the mountains at the most adorable cabin. Upon our arrival, Stephanie (the cleaning person extraordinaire!) had created the most welcoming environment with soft music playing. We noticed immediately how well-decorated and meticulously clean the cabin was. After getting settled, we went back down the mountain to do some grocery shopping. June & Rick have the place set up perfectly if you want to cook all your meals. We did just that, although the last evening, we ordered pizza from Geppetto's (which we highly recommend). On the third day of our 5-day stay, we got a solid 6" (likely more!) of snow. It was awesome and so beautiful. We spent our time reading, listening to music, watching movies (from the selection in the cabin), playing games and enjoying the snow falling from the hot tub on the deck. The three decks each had beautiful views. If it had been warmer, we would have read outside. But, the cabin had a great fireplace and was cozy and warm to cuddle up with our books. June & Rick were great - addressing our only question very promptly. Additionally, there are adorable stuffed bears to cuddle with. We named them - Ditka, Dick Butkus, Virginia and Brian. (Can you tell these Texans lived in Chicago?) As mentioned from previous reviewers, the drive up/down the mountain is winding and narrow. We came down the morning after over 6" of snow had been cleared and found it to be comfortably passable. Four-wheel drive or chains are required in inclement weather - just be cautious and you'll be fine.

Response from the owner I think the winter time is probably the most amazing time of the year in the Smokies - when it snows, it is absolutely a winter wonderland. Just come with a four wheel drive or chains on hand just in case a lot of snow shows up! Snuggling up with hot chocolate, a fire and a fantastic view makes it one of the most surprisingly, relaxing vacations. It is so worth it to come in winter!

“Gorgeous mountain views!!!”

Reviewed 22 Dec 2013

This cabin is very relaxing, comfortable, very clean, and quiet. I enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen and especially sitting on the porch overlooking the incredible mountain peaks. It was very hard to leave and I wish I could go back after Christmas. Thank you to June and Rick for making us feel so welcomed. The Christmas decorations were a perfect touch to enjoying the cabin.

“Lovely Cabin with Stunning Views!”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2013

We rented Rick & June's cabin for our honeymoon the week of October 14th. The cabin was lovely and exactly as you see in the pictures and then some. It is minutes to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg & Seiverville yet where the cabin is located is so peaceful and absolutely beautiful. When we weren't out seeing sites, we were enjoying the quite on one of the balconies with awesome views or sipping wine in the hot tub. We will definitely stay with them again when we return!

“Best view ever!”

Wonderful cabin. Great location, easy drive, very private! Cabin was very comfortable, really clean and well stocked. June and Rick made renting so easy and were available to answer any questions. Would highly recommend Heavenly Haven!

“Amazing in every way -- well-appointed, well-situated, truly mem”

Reviewed 13 Sep 2013

We have traveled all over the world, but this cabin is one of our favorite places on earth. We've stayed here twice, and another time in the owners' smaller cabin. Each visit was wonderful, with superb and attentive service by the owners. Everything you could want or need to enjoy your stay. Comfortable, immaculate, attractively decorated, thoughtfully-appointed and generously furnished, everything is first-class. Our family loved sitting on the deck watching the sun go down and paint the mountain ranges all different shades of blue, purple, gray, and then the stars come out. We also love to have adventures all day, and then relax in the hot tub on the deck. Some of our favorite things to do in the area include rafting/tubing, hiking, horseback riding, and visiting Dollywood (a terrific amusement park with something for everyone). Also we enjoyed Cade's Cove and spotting wildlife. Ripley's aquarium in Gatlinburg is world-class and easily fills an entire day. The kitchen has everything you need to cook or entertain, including a blender and a crock pot. (I even baked cookies.) Satellite TV in two of the BRs, another TV in the den/family room, and another in the lower-level game room. There is even a nice selection of Dvds to watch, and music CDs. The beds are spacious; somehow they seem even larger than the king-size bed we have at home! The luxury sheets and many blankets give a wonderful night's sleep. In both Br's there is an attached bathroom with a shower, but in the master BR itself, there is a Jacuzzi bath with a beautiful window above it...very romantic. Our kids love sleeping upstairs in the loft, which is very spacious & also has a beautiful king-size bed. The cabin is secluded; we never saw another person. It is perfectly quiet at night except the faint hum of cicadas. The owners are great. We only had one time when we had a question; they answered our call immediately and were very responsive, helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

“Great cabin with even better views”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2013

My family of four just stayed in Heavenly Haven. The cabin is just as described and the owners are excellent to deal with. They answer all questions very timely. Everything you could think of is at the cabin including binoculars, picnic basket, crock pot, and anything else you may forget to pack. We loved having the game room and bedroom downstairs. My girls thought of it as "their house" and entertained themselves most of the week. Great cabin!!!

“Cozy Family Retreat with awesome Views”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2013

My husband, teenaged daughter, and I spent 4 days at Heavenly Haven in March and we loved every minute! The views off all three balconies are absolutely stunning. Even the view at night is lovely. There are just enough houses spread across Wears Valley that the hills are decorated with "fairy lights" at night. It was very pretty. We also loved the cabin itself. This cabin didn't feel like just another vacation rental. It felt like we were staying in someone's home away from home. Everything that we needed was provided - extra fluffy towels just for the hot tub - lots of movies, books, and games - a picnic basket, just to name a few. We love to cook so we were delighted with the kitchen. It was fully outfitted and even has a well-stocked spice cabinet. Oh, and I have to mention how great the bedrooms are! June and Rick have really made each one feel like a master suite. My daughter loved having her own king sized bed and bathroom. We are all looking forward to staying at Heavenly Haven again and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to visit the Smokies.

“Home away from home”

This cabin was all it was supposed to be and more. The location was great and easy to get to with a paved road all the way to the cabin. The views were amazing from all three levels. The cabin was extremely well furnished with comfortable furniture that allowed you to relax and just enjoy your stay. It was also very clean and well maintained with excellent décor. The owners were very good to deal with and went out of their way to make you feel at home. We would recommend this cabin to anyone travelling to this area
