“A great house in a fabulous location”

Reviewed 12 Apr 2014

We spent three days at Iki Hanu and it simply was not long enough. The house itself was clean and comfortable, with a great screened-in lanai and a well-equipped kitchen. Plus, the house was equipped with all of the toys needed to enjoy the fabulous location. My husband and I appreciated the snorkel gear and snorkeled daily in the tidepools that were literally across the street. We saw dozens of different varieties of fish -- far more than you see on the west side of the island -- and loved the fact that the tidepools were not congested. At times, we were the only people snorkeling in the pools, and even when others were there, they were hardly noticeable. Kapoho is a hidden gem, and Iki Hanu is a great escape! I just wish we could have stayed longer.

“Mini-retreat”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2013

Perfect couple retreat spot. Very simple and nicely furnished and equipped. The little added touches (kitchen and Bathroom toiletries) made it feel homey and friendly. Wifi was readily available (scarce in these parts) and we barely left the cottage. Perhaps a little close to the road but the gate made us feel fairly private. I was in this house several years ago, different owner and was a little nervous. The remodel had me pleasantly surprised. Good Value for the price. Snorkeling and swimming easy access

“Home away from home in Paradise!”

Reviewed 11 Jun 2013

This is a beautiful and very well maintained home that is just across the street from some wonderful tide pools with great snorkeling. It was very well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The owner has taken great pride in making sure every detail was taken care of...from a well stocked kitchen to bikes and snorkeling gear. We felt at home here. The pictures do not do justice to the beauty of the interior of the home. I am not a good swimmer and tend to have panic attacks when I try, but these nice tide pools made it easy for me to do. You will not be disappointed in this choice of places to stay. We will come back again! And on your trip be sure to take the lava boat tour...the pre-dawn one is worth getting up early for!

“Iki Honu cottage was everything we hoped for and more.”

Reviewed 6 Jun 2013

My husband and I stayed at Iki Honu for three nights in May 2013, and would highly recommend the luxury cottage to all travellers to the Big Island. The warm tidal pools are just across the street and can be viewed from the lanai. Snorkelling in the pools is excellent; you can even see the fish from the shore. The cottage is attractive, comfortable and inviting, and has all the amenities you could ask for, including a dishwasher! The jacuzzi in the back yard was most enjoyable. We would recommend using earplugs at night, however, because the croaking of the frogs starts once the sun goes down.

“Wonderful Time at Iki Honu!!”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2013

We loved staying here! My Husband and I snorkeled every morning we were there, saw lots and lots of fish and a even a huge sea turtle the last day! The weather was perfect and only rained one day in the 9 days we were there! We used the jacuzzi every day, sometimes more than once a day! We brought our food back a couple of nights and ate on the screened lanai, Pahoa had some great restaurants. Can't say enough good things about this rental, we will return!

“Spectacular, romantic, getaway for 2, near snorkeling tide pools”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2013

This is an amazing property, near lush tropical rain forest and the ocean. Very very clean. Kitchen is beautiful and has all amenities. We loved the screened in porch, walking to tide pools, excellent value and easy to communicate with owner. Pahoa has absolutely fabulous restaurants, and the drive to Isaac Hale Beach for the volcano boat tour is convenient and gorgeous through tree lined roads.

“Perfect Seven Night Stay”

Reviewed 22 Feb 2013

My wife and I spent seven nights at this great place after spending nine nights in South Kona. The seven nights at Iki Honu was the perfect ending to the trip. We loved having our own private place near Pahoa with the tidal pools right out the front door. The snorkeping was the best we have ever experienced and the number and variety of both fish and colorful coral was amazing! The location is also great for a trip to Volcano National Park, Hilo and the east coast of Hawaii. We spent each day with whatever activity we had planned, did some snorkeling, had a nightly walk around the area, jumped in the jacuzzi for a quick soak then enjoyed the large flat screen tv before going to bed. The residents and other visitors we met on our walks were all very friendly. The property had everything we wanted, the kitchen was very well equiped and we both loved everything about our stay. We would highly recommend this for others!

“Gem of a cottage in fabulous snorkling spot”

Reviewed 9 Feb 2013

My husband and I greatly enjoyed our stay in Iki Honu. Although it is a studio cottage, there was plenty of room (especially given the screened-in lanai), and it was pretty, clean, and comfortable. Until we arrived, we didn't know about the "secret" pool for swimming and snorkling a few houses to the south; we only knew of the Wai Opae tidepools, which are basically unusable unless the tide is high enough. The other pool was deeper, crystal clear, and teeming with friendly fish. We were delighted to see, in the water there, the granddaddy of all turtles, which must have been at least five feet long from nose to tail. This cottage in such a location is an amazing value; we will be back!

“Great stay in Kapoho”

Reviewed 7 Jan 2013

My husband and I had a great time during our 4 night stay at Iki Honu. Snorkeling in the tide pools was easily accessible and our favorite activity. The house had good quality snorkeling gear available. The other amenities were also great- we had everything we needed for cooking and the laundry was convenient. Highly recommended for a relaxing vacation.

“My husband and I enjoyed the serene, relaxed and peaceful part o”

Reviewed 10 Dec 2012

We were in Kapoho for only three nights and wished we could have stayed longer. This area lends itself to fun play in the pools, slow walks in the friendly community and exploration of a fascinating part of this Island. The home was equipped with much more than basic amenities. We especially enjoyed the large screened lanai.
