“A Taste of Paradise”

Reviewed 4 Jan 2013

My daughter and another family just spent 11 days over Christmas at Carefree. It was awesome. The villa has superb views from every deck, including 2 off the downstairs bedrooms. It is clean and well maintained. We cooked many fabulous dinners in the well stocked kitchen, and drove to Red Hook and downtown for entertainment. Magen's Bay was my daily morning beach walk and swim, being that it is only 10 minutes away! Driving there is tricky, as the roads in Mahogany Run are very narrow and very steep and windy. However, it was great fun to drive them! The neighborhood is beautiful, safe, and convenient to the most beautiful part of the island, in my opinion, the north side. It was truly a taste of paradise. I am already planning our next trip down!!

“Wonderful vacation at a beautiful home”

Reviewed 31 May 2012

My husband and I and our son and daughter-in-law just spent a wonderful week at Carefree. The views are spectacular. The pictures are exactly what Carefree looks like. Rick arranged for us to be met at the airport and guided back to the house. He also sent us a lot of helpful information prior to our departure and kept in touch while we were there to be sure everything was OK. We took advantage of the grill and cooked out a couple nights. We highly recommend getting steaks at the Marina Market in Red Hook across from Fish Tails if you want to grill. Carefree is great for families and even better if there are two or three couples, as each would have a king size bed and private bath. The beds were very comfortable. Nice views from every room. The property is very clean and well maintained. The day we arrived, we ate at the Mohogany Run Golf Grill. Very good. We went to Coki Beach, Megan's Bay and Sapphire Beach. All within 20 minutes or less of Carefree. The best day to be on the beach is when there are only a few cruise ships in. None is much better. We did a day sail on High Pockets to Cinnamon Bay on St. John's island where we snorkeled with sea turtles and rays. Terrific day. We took the ferry to St. John for dinner at The Beach Bar. Had a great time! In Red Hook we ate one dinner at Fish Tails and another at Iggies at Bolongo Bay (both about a 25 minute drive). All dining experiences were positive. Even with a few sharp turns, the roads were no problem. Coming back to Carefree after our days activity was like coming home, only better. We highly recommend staying at Carefree and hope to return again. David, Karen, Tom and Pam

“Another Relaxing Stay at Carefree”

Reviewed 11 Mar 2012

Although we have traveled many different places, Carefree is the one place we return each year. We never tire of the spectacular ocean and "down-island" views from this villa. The villa owners are extremely responsive and always offer great, up-to-date suggestions for restaurants and island activities. Carefree is located on the quiet north side of the island, close to the beautiful Magen's Bay (a required day trip). It is a well-stocked (especially the kitchen!) and comfortable villa. We are already looking forward to our return this year.

“We will return to Carefree”

Reviewed 9 Mar 2012

While my husband and I have stayed at Carefree several times, the spectacular view amazes us anew every time. Drinking coffee on the deck and gazing at the British Virgin Islands is our favorite way to start the day. The house itself is always exceptionally clean and appears lovingly cared for. The decor is light and airy. The shower that overlooks the ocean is our favorite. With the ever present breeze and the sound of the ocean, we have no trouble sleeping! The kitchen is equipped for sophisticated cooking. The wine cooler is a nice touch. We are active travelers and find the hills of Mahogany Run to be great for a strenuous walk, the pool perfect for a non-weight bearing workout, and the golf course a delightful experience. My husband has played the Devil's Triangle without losing a ball! With Carefree as our home base, we always look for new places to explore. This year we took a water taxi to Water Island. We enjoyed a golf cart ride to the bunker and a picnic on the beach. We are not big shoppers and enjoy the "un-touristy" feel of Carefree and Mahogany Run. We like being away from the crowds. We usually go to town when the cruise ships aren't in. A few shops are open and it is fun to talk to the workers/locals. St. Thomas is a fabulous destination and Carefree is wonderful home away from home.
