“Can't wait to go back”
We love Zihuatanejo, Casa Que Ve al Mar, and Casa d'Arte. The terraza is the best - a view of the entire bay. Harriet, the manager, made sure our stay in this beautiful condo was perfect. The infinity pool overlooking the beach and the bay is a great place to meet other congenial guests. Zihuatanejo, for us, is the perfect combination of resort and Mexican town. We will definitely be back next year.
Response from the owner We love Zihuatanejo also. Casa que Ve al Mar is such a lovely place to stay with so many nice folks who share their new found 'treasures' by the pool. Our grounds are among the prettiest in Zihua. We also hope to have you back again! Harriet
“Fabulous terrace and a Beautiful View of Paradise!”
Our party consisted of two couples, age 60+. Our original reservation was for a different property, but last minute problems necessitated a change. Fortunately for us, the wonderful Property Manager,Harriet, had Casa d'Arte up her sleeve! We were a bit concerned about making the last minute property switch, but it turned out well. Casa d'Arte really suited our needs. The unit is exactly as shown in the photos. There are 2 King-size bedrooms, 2 well appointed bathrooms, a spacious living room and dining room, a well-equipped kitchen, and best of all a truly remarkable terrace! From the terrace, you can look out over Playa La Ropa. And at night, you can see all the twinkling lights on the hills across the bay. You access the terrace from sliding doors from either the living room or the master bedroom. So while it is not open to the living area as in some other properties, that's not necessarily a bad thing. We were there in October, and it was still quite hot and humid. We were grateful to be able to use air conditioning in the living spaces, while still having a beautiful open-air terrace to spend time on! We spent our days at the beach and at the 2 infinity pools on the property. Eliezer, the Concierge, was there to answer all our questions. The only reason I didn't give Casa d'Arte 5 stars would be the walk to the beach. If you are young and in great shape, it won't bother you, but for us it was a bit of challenge. It's not a long walk, but the driveway down to the road is very steep. If you have bad knees or a bad back, you may want to call a taxi for just a few dollars, even just for the short distance to the beach. All in all, I encourage you to stay at Casa d'Arte. You won't be disappointed. We had a lovely time there.
Response from the owner LOL. I know what you mean about the walk. It is not so bad in the early morning hours, but you can bet by mid-afternoon, I am grabbing a cab at the taxi stand. Luckily, the taxis are right there one block from the beach. I am thrilled that Casa d'Arte worked out for you. You were very gracious and flexible with the last minute changes. I am lucky to manage some gorgeous properties (two of which I own) and work with some terrific owners. Come again! Kind regards, Harriet
“Peace and Serenity in Zihu”
We had a absolute terrific time in Zihu again this year. We found Casa d'Arte very well equipped and well suited to our travelling lifestyle. The balcony area was absolutely fantastic and provided a perfect calming zone at the end of a busy beach afternoon. We used Harriet's guide exclusively for restaurant choices and although my memory of all the places is a little vague, I do recall a memorable evening at Coconuts and a terrific Thursday afternoon at Santa Prisca. I believe this guide is so complete I would be surprised if there were any activities in the area that have not already been documented. Btw, I would be remiss if I did not mention the terrific job the staff at Casa que Ve al Mar did. From the security staff at the gate to the pool and grounds staff. All helped make our trip so special.
Response from the owner Thank you Barry and Larraine for being such great guests! I heard that you always had a smile on your faces during your trip. We would love to have you back again! Harriet
“Experiencia muy bonita”
Casa d'Arte is a beautiful retreat. We arrived to find the condo in excellent condition and the furnishings, bedding, art work , floors and counters were lovely and unique. The kitchen is well appointed if you want to cook and dine in. Our favorite "room" was the fantastic covered double outdoor patio. The condo seems so expansive because of this feature. The bay view is absolutely breathtaking and the ocean waves can be heard especially in the evening. The infinity pool was also a great amenity. It was never crowded and again, the view was outstanding. The concierge and housekeeper were efficient and we felt safe with the security guard on the premises. The walk to La Ropa beach is only a few minutes, but it is steep (the reason for four stars below.) You can take a taxi back if it is too strenuous. There is a taxi stand very close to the beach. In our opinion it was not a big deal because the view and breeze at the condo made it all worth while. We enjoyed Pati's for lounging and dinner on the beach. If we had stayed longer, we would have tried other local restaurants at El Centro (downtown.) It is a short cab ride away or you can take the bus for a few pesos. The Mercado was so interesting and a fun way to soak up some local culture. We enjoyed deep sea fishing with Captain Bernie, a hardworking man who aims to make your trip fun and productive! His website can be found by searching "The Dos amigos." We caught three mahi-mahi on our trip. Bernie's son took us trolling the next day and we caught a few small fish and one amberjack. Our destination was Ixtapa island and our catch was grilled by one of the restaurants there. It was terrific. After lunch we snorkeled on the other side of the island. Next visit we want to snorkel at Playa Manzanillo. This was a great vacation we will be back for sure. It was a slice of real Mexico and not the "touristy" experience. This condo was an outstanding alternative to ordinary hotel room accommodations.
“Everything we hoped it would be and were surprised when it actua”
While we have visited many parts of Mexico over the years and on both sides,Zihuatanejo was our favorite. From the moment we stepped in the door of Casa d'Arte we knew it was going to be everything we hoped for. When renting over the internet and seeing photos of places, there's always that thought that the pictures were taken when the unit was brand new and will not really be like that any longer...not this place! We slept with the french doors of our room open every night of the two weeks we were there and felt completely safe. Waking up in the morning, seeing the view, crawling out of bed only to return to the huge patio/deck with a coffee was my favorite time of day. We ate our lunches and dinners out most days and Hotel Catalina was by far our favorite! Elvira's had amazing margaritas and our first night in Zihua was an encounter with happy hour there. Unfortunately the next day we were told there was no longer happy hour because of it being high season??? No problem, we just slid over to Paty's where they had happy hour every night! It was a popular spot. My husband and son went fishing with a local guide Their catch was cooked for them the next day at a restaurant on Las Gatas. We walked there along a well traveled path over the rocks and arrived on a extremely crowded and overrated beach, nothing worth returning twice for. On New Years eve we were treated to a spectacular fireworks show held on the beach which we watched from the deck of Casa d'Arte. We will be back!
Response from the owner Hola Rob and Juanita- We are tickled that you had such a great time! Our mission is to have great vacations ourselves and to help others have great vacations as well. Thanks for being such wonderful guests!
“True to it's name Casa d"Arte is artistically inspiring.”
Loved the condo! It actually takes a few days to notice all the "fine touches" that are in the unit. One can see the care and attention to detail that the owners have given Casa d"Arte. Our friend who is a decorative finisher took many pictures of the place. Here is her quote "This place is the most artistically inspiring home I have been in for a long time!" I could not get enough of the view!! Wow & wow again! We enjoyed a number of restaurants in the area. Our favorite is Kau Kan. Il Mare is a close second. I think the things I like the best about visiting Zihuatenejo are of course the beautiful bay, the beaches and mostly the "family centered community". A wonderful place to visit!
Response from the owner We loved having you and we loved that you had such a great trip. Your friend has very good taste, I might add. Casa d'Arte is truly unique and inspirational. Thank you for being such great guests!
“Casa d'Arte had the most incredible views, and was exactly what”
Our Vrbo rental of Casa d'Arte was arranged for by the manager of the property, Harriet Garfinkle. Harriet made sure that our stay was going to be efficient and comfortable. She arranged through Eleiser, the concierge, (who was very helpful and accomodating) for our daughter and husband to have the use of a crib for our 6 month old grand son for our stay and also to have groceries in the condo for our arrival. We loved the well-equipped condo. It was very roomy and very artfully decorated. The large terrace afforded an incredible view and was a great spot for morning coffee/breakfast and evening drinks/meals. The Casa Que Ve al Mar condo complex's 2 infinity pools were wonderful to swim and refresh ourselves in, or just lounge around, and the view from them was awesome. The complex was about a 10 minute walk down a steep hill to beautiful La Ropa beach (we enjoyed our daily excercise) and a 20 to 30 minute walk to "El Centro" Zihuatanejo. We loved the location of the condo as we are very much beach people, and marvelled at the view from the terrace every morning and again every evening when the sun went down in an incredible display. We're glad we experienced Casa d'Arte while our grandson was so young as the unit would not have been suitable for toddlers or young children due to the exposed terrace. Other units in the complex will likely serve us well in the future as we intend to return with older grandchildren.
We had only a two night stay at the Casa d'Arte before heading north to Troncones. Make sure that when you get a cab from the airport you insist that they can take you all the way up to the main enterance. Ours dropped us at the base of the hill and we had a serious hike with our luggage (at least we earned that first marg.) The view from the condo is spectacular! Without question, really beautiful. We had four guests and used both bedrooms, the couple staying the in "back" bedroom were attacked nightly by mosquitos. They tried to sleep under the bug net but it was so stuffy and hot under there that it made for a terrible night of sleep. Meanwhile the couple in the front bedroom had only a few bites and were able to keep the door open to the fresh air.
Response from the owner This has been a terrible year for mosquitoes. It is so rare for bugs to even be an issue in Zihuatanejo at this time of year. I hear stunned reports and complaints from all over town, and up and down the beaches about bug bites. Was the AC not working in the back bedroom? That should have left your folks comfortable under the netting. We have been trying very hard to eradicate the bugs, but they have been a problem everywhere. Thanks for letting us know.
“Although the weather was humid, we Loveddd it!”
The place is so much more beautiful and spacious when you see it! We took a 10 hour bus ride (though it was publicized to be a 6 hour drive) from Mexico City, and you should have seen our faces when we stepped into the condo. The decorations all around the house, the floor even was beautifully decorated with stones! and very well equipped with bowls, glasses etc. We had a couple of ants plague us in the kitchen, but there was a notice that the place was going to be sprayed the day we left. We spent almost all of our time in the infinity pools, which we loved, and the view from the terrace is unbeatable, as you are on almost one of the highest levels! Harriet is so on top of things, and her guide that she sends you is amazing when you book with her. We did go during low season, as the humidity is pretty crazy, but despite that our group of 5 had an absolutely lovely time at Casa d'Arte.
La Casa del arte was an exceptional place to pass time with our adult daughter from alaska. The interior design, colorful arrangements, paintings and extraordinarily magnificent views from the big open balcony were breath-taking from the moment we stepped in the door. Truly a lovely place with friendly staff and location on La Playa beach.
