Dear Dana and Scott, Thank you so very much for creating this beautiful home on the shore of this beautiful island. We have truly had a magical vacation! I have a family of four children, ages 12, 9 and two 6-year-olds. And, we were traveling with our au pair as well. The main house provided plenty of room for our party of seven. The house is open and full of light. The ocean breezes are crisp and relaxing. And the beautiful grounds provided a stunning backdrop for our Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday morning! Hopefully, we retrieved all of the plastic eggs! The beach outside the house with its rocks, coral and driftwood provided endless entertainment and exploration opportunities for my kids. And, we had some pretty great snorkeling off the shore as well! The house is perfectly located to explore the entire island. And, we tried to do it all! Our first night, we had a sunset meal at Off the Wall restaurant on Cane Bay. The live entertainment allowed my children to dance in the sand to their hearts content. On Easter Sunday morning, we enjoyed an Easter egg hunt and snorkeling right outside the house. We then traveled to Rainbow Beach and enjoyed the clear water and charming views of Frederiksted. We had a delicious meal at Rowdy Joe's on Easter evening. We fought over the last bite of their corn and crab chowder. And, save room for the homemade ice cream. My children ordered the last bowl of the mint chocolate chip and I thought we would cause a riot at the table next to us! On Monday we all swam out to the wall at Cane Bay and enjoyed the breathtaking snorkeling views. That afternoon, we explored the rain forest and the west side of the island with Paul and Jill's horseback riding tour. The rain shower on the ride made the experience more authentic and enjoyable! We ended the day with a sunset meal at Teres Veho near Rainbow Beach. On Tuesday, we drove east to Point Udall and even worked in a round of putt putt at Divi Carina resort. We spent the afternoon exploring Christiansted and grabbed a quick bite at Singhs fast food. I highly recommend the curried conk. It was delicious. That night we enjoyed the glowing echo system with Bush Tribe's bioluminescent kayak tour. Do not miss this experience! On Wednesday, we went off road with Tan Tan jeep tours. OMG, what a blast! Indeed, you will see parts of the island that your rental car will not take you. Our favorite spot on that tour was The Annaly tide pools. And, the guides on the tour, Moses and Dale, were so knowledgeable about the island. We learned more in that five hour tour than we had in reading tons of articles about St. Croix. We even saw pig drink beer! (Gotta see it to believe it!) We ended the day with a catered feast by Juliana. Again, do not miss this experience. She brought a six course meal to the Villa that made every member of my family smile. As mentioned in previous reviews, do this meal early in the week. We still have leftovers and it is Saturday! On Thursday, we ventured to Buck Island with the Jolly Roger crew. Capt. Mike and his mates were excellent in teaching me and my family about the marine life and ecosystem at Buck Island. If you are prone to seasickness, however, you may want to throw on a motion sickness patch. Depending on the winds, the ride can be a bit rough! On Friday, we went back to our favorite beach, Rainbow Beach. And we enjoyed a second meal at Teres Veho, the only restaurant we visited twice! I'm not sure if it was the burger or the view, but that truly was a cheeseburger in Paradise. After frolicking in the pool at the Villa for several hours, we ended our trip with a drive back to Point Udall and spectacular stargazing! Wow! I have never in my life seen a more beautiful night sky. In summary, this was a fabulous vacation. The Cruzan Sands Villa it is absolutely perfect from its location, to its accommodations, to its property management staff. You will not find a more perfect spot in St. Croix. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with our family. Doctor Mom Charlotte, NC
My wife & I just returned from a wonderful week at the Cruzan Sands Guest House. It is a truly amazing place right on the beach with unbelivable views. From the moment we arrived Adele was there to show us where everything was and even had a map marked with places we should visit and restaurnts to try. The villa has everything you need for a great vacation. You can snokel right off your very own beach and watch the moon rise & stars at night. This being our first trip to St Croix, we wanted a centrally located villa, so we could experienc the whole island and that we did. From scuba diving with N2 The Blue, snorkeling all around the island whever we could find a path to beach, hiking to the lighthouse on the north end, to a bioluminescent bay tour with Virgin Kayak. Lots of great restaurants on island and especially the blackened fish tacos at Rowdy Joe's. We will be back and thank you Dana & Scott for sharing your perfect villa. We will be back!
“Best Vacation my family has had!”
We rented both the Main Villa and the Guest House. Fabulous! Great Beach! Great Houses! Great Views! We enjoyed St. Croix to our maximums! We explored the historic sites. We shopped. We ate at the fabulous restaurants - both casual and elegant. We went boating. We got up early and saw the sunrise at Point Udall. We simply have to go back to do more! At the end of the days, we relaxed on the most wonderful beach, the waves gently lapping. I wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back!
“Once in a life time Family Vacation at Cruzan Sands, St Croix”
My wife and I had been planning a family getaway for sometime. She and I go on cruises whenever we can as we feel that they are the ultimate vacation for a couple. We looked around for a place for a Family vacation this year (8) eight of us; (6) six adults and (2) two Grandchildren, 7 and 1. The first evening there my oldest grandson hit the pool and had so much fun that he did not want to come out until he saw the hermit crabs and geckos. I showed him the ocean but he was not too particularly enthusiastic about swimming there. The next day we went snorkeling at Buck Island after that we could not get him out of the ocean. Speaking of hermit crabs there are a lot of them and geckos and an iguana. The last day there I was out taking photos and I heard a noise by the west garden I looked down and there was a big shell so I bent down to pick it up and legs and head popped out. This was the largest hermit crab I have ever seen. He was as big as my hand. My grandson got a big kick out of it. One amenity that was offered that we did not take up on was the availability of a cook,, we brought steaks from Omaha, NE. The first night there we were presented with lasagna for dinner after arriving late. It made us feel at home. Also, Adele and her husband went out of their way in helping to my daughter and son-in-law, who arrived on the Island two days before with no directions, by offering to physically meet them and guide them to the villa, but phone communication was sufficient. We built a lot of memories on this vacation and this was a great place to do it. St Croix is a beautiful place and I would return in a moment, but alas, vacations come but once a year, and family vacations are further apart. This place I would give a 5 star rating, lets face it, how many places can you stay and walk in the footprints of Christopher Columbus!
“Perfect vacation home!”
What an amazing week. The house had a great location, with access to the beach at Columbus Landing and our own swimming pool. We did not have to go anywhere to have a great time- the kids loved the pool and splashing in the ocean and my husband could snorkel right behind the villa! Beach chairs were provided so that I could watch them splash and read a book. The ocean breeze kept the place perfectly cool (our trip was in February)and we used the air conditioning only for the rooms our kids slept in. The place was exceptionally clean, the beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed and more! For the couple of minor things we needed some attention on, Adele the property manager had it taken care of in minutes. Incredible service! Make sure you visit La Reina's chicken shack and have some of their johnny cakes- Adele recommended them and our kids still can't quit talking about them! We also enjoyed a sail to Buck Island on the Jolly Roger, a fabulous dinner at Savant, and so much more!
“Oh My Goodness! Do not miss this villa on the beach!”
Cruzan Sands Villa is the most wonderful place we have stayed in our travels throughout the Caribbean. On an island where everything is historic, it is so nice to stay in a brand new, well maintained villa. It is remarkable that the owners can offer this villa for so little! It is the best value we have experienced. It is truly luxurious. It is truly right on the beach. It is truly a vacation paradise. The rooms are spacious. The beds are so comfortable. The living room and outside living room are so well designed that every moment we spent at Cruzan Sands was effortless. The kitchen was nicer than ours at home! Because it is an island home, we understand that corrosion is a big issue. When the grill did not light up right away, the property managers came by in what seemed like an instant! We felt we were well cared for here. The beauty of this location cannot be understated. Each morning when we awoke to the perfect sunrise, we were refreshed and renewed. The quiet, winding road that leads to the villa is majestic. The location on the island is central and we had no problems getting anywhere. Oh, I wish I were there now! We have already planned our return visit.
We just returned from our first trip to St. Croix and had the most wonderful stay at Cruzan Sands. The villa is in a great location right on a beach (with a pool). The beach is public but felt private and was very quiet, you could snorkel right out the back door. 1 afternoon there was a rainbow coming up from the oocean right in our backyard- It was amazing! All 3 bedrooms were Master size, well equipped kitchen and decorated beautifully for the Island!! I would recommend staying here and if we go back to St. Croix we would definitely stay here again...
“Loved our stay at Cruzan Sands!”
We rented the beach house as well as the guest home for my sister's wedding on 12/12/12. Our decision to come to St. Croix was based on two criteria: First we wanted to stay within the U.S., so we didn't have to mess with passports for extended family. Secondly, we wanted a home that was right on the beach since we had four children with us. That is how we ended up at Cruzan Sands! The photos accurately portray the home and the amenities. The location was great, and not far from amenities. We ended up touring the whole island, and I am not sure that I would've stayed anywhere else! The winds off of the beach were sufficient to keep you cool while hanging out on the deck. We were not aware of the "Christmas Winds" that begin at the first of December, but thankful they were there when we were outdoors. The pool was a big hit for the kids. It's not big, but just the right size for small ones. They spent more time in the pool than they did on the beach, which surprised us all! The beach has great shells and reef "paraphernalia" if you enjoy seeing what washes up on the shore daily. We found tons of Conch Shells, and even made/decorated our own Conch Shell Christmas Tree! My father & husband went scuba diving with Salt River Marina and literally went right out in front of our beach house. They said it was a good reef with lots of fish and marine life. I am more of a "stay where I can touch" ocean person, so I never ventured out to the reef. I think if the winds were more calm (during different time of year), you could easily swim/ walk to the reef from the beach. We went to Christiansted for the Crab Races on Monday Night. It was fun, however there are so many hermit crabs by the home, we ended up having our own crab races, much more fun! The beach area by the home is very scenic, we took many family photos in front of house + just down the beach. To sum it up, I think this home offers something for everyone! You won't be disappointed with your choice!
“Elegant, Beautiful Living By the Sea”
We are so grateful to share your gorgeous island home on the beach! The island breeze, the kind locals (esp. at the Chicken Shack), the beauty of your new home and its tropical decor made for an unforgettable experience. The property is very well kept and beautiful with exceptional views of the ocean and Salt River Bay. Everyone with Cruzan Sands was very attentive and made themselves accessible to questions we had. Thanks for the valuable recommendations ranging from activities, dining, shopping, along with invitations to hang out at local spots nearby. Access to the beach couldn't be any better at the Villa; it was so convenient to enjoy a walk on the beach whenever we wanted. The location was perfect with a 15 minute drive to Chistiansted for sailing, shopping, and entertainment (the crab races at Fort Christian Brew Pub, Jaccar's gelato, and sailing on the Jolly Roger to Buck island). The Jump Up festival in Christiansted was fun and jovial with steel drum bands, Mocko Jumbies, great local cuisine, and wonderful island drinks . We loved the beach action and snorkeling at Cane Bay, Rainbow, and Sand Castle Beach. The drive to these spots were spectacular in views of the ocean, old sugar mills, and rainforest enroute to Frederiksted. At Cane Bay Beach we enjoyed a fun evening at the Off The Wall beach bar playing beach bingo with many of the local residents. The food and drinks there were great. We really enjoyed the snorkeling along Sand Castle Beach, just south of Frederiksted. It has calm waters and continuous rock outcroppings that are home to a wide variety of ocean species and corals. Close by, the Pirates Tavern at the marina has really great Mexican food, drinks, and live music.A highlight of our trip was the nighttime bioluminescence kayaking tour. Your home and island are so relaxing and beautiful that we would recommend it to anyone and only look forward to when we might return.
“Perfect Island Vacation for Family”
Cruzan Sands Villa was everything we expected in an island get-away, and more! The home was spacious, well-equipped, and beautifully maintained. The owners thought of everything when planning this vacation home. The beach is just a few steps away, and we enjoyed swimming, snorkeling, strolling, beach-combing, and even a game of football on the sand! The pool deck was perfect for lounging, eating, reading and enjoying the ocean view - plenty of sun and shade. Our kids loved the pool, and the landscaping is gorgeous! We could not have been more pleased with the home! We are already looking forward to a return trip to St. Croix and Cruzan Sands!
