“Even better 2nd time around!”

Reviewed 13 May 2014

April 2013, my wife and I had 7 days at Villa Bunga Wangi in Canggu, Bali near Seminyak. Our review then was EXCELLENT. It is even better 2nd time around. This visit was for 10 days in May [just back today] with one other couple. Quite literally, it is a brilliant venue for friends to R&R with each couple having their own HUGE private bedroom pavilion [with outdoor shower in private courtyards], and a pool area to die for set in 1.5 hectares of beautifully [and daily] manicured lush tropical vegetation. But what makes Villa Bunga Wangi so special and uniquely different from the competition is the staff and their constant attention to making sure your stay is everything you want. Ketut, house manager and 4/5 star chef made all our meals [both western and Indonesian], catered for a specific dietary request and triumphed with every meal. So we ate 95% of our meals at Villa Bunga Wangi simply because the menu was broad, enticing and worthy of staying in for, not withstanding our several dinner visits to restaurants Seminyak. Ketut's support staff were always there for us, yet never in our face. Interestingly, and to Villa Bunga Wangi's admirable credit, the staff are the same this visit as the last visit. They knew us, we knew them ... very comfortable!! Can recommend two restaurants in Seminyak as MUST visit and simply exquisite; Chandi, Asian fusion in Seminyak's main street delivered taste bud tingling variety at value for money prices, and Sardine on Seminyak's approaches was one of the 3 most incredible restaurant venues the writer has experienced anywhere in the world. The food and wine selections matched the venues breathtaking ambiance proving Seminyak is definitely the centre of haute cuisine and Villa Bunga Wangi in nearby Canggu is the place to be for a vacation of pure indulgence. Already looking forward to 2015!!

“Amazing stay”

Reviewed 5 Jan 2014

Our family had a wonderful stay at Villa Bunga Wangi, it was perfect in so many ways. Our kids had a great time exploring the property and enjoying pool and tv room (when it rained). We were so well looked after by the staff, each meal was fantastic and Ketut very accommodating in all of our requests. The property location was secluded and green but still very convenient in the Canggu area for the beach and eating out. We definitely look forward to another visit in the future!

Response from the owner Dear Kelly Thank you for a lovely review and I am thrilled to hear that you would consider staying with us again. We sincerely hope to see you again soon.

“A secluded piece of paradise”

Reviewed 30 May 2013

We had an absolutely amazing time at Villa Bunga Wangi. Our entire stay was absolutely flawless and we now have some great family memories together from our time spent at the villa. We completely unwound and relaxed and lost all concept of time. We were all in a blissed out stupor most of the time to the point where I am sure the staff thought we were a bit thick! Despite this the staff were amazing! Ketut prepared amazing meals, the seafood barbeque was great. The staff always greeted us with a smile and helped us with music, gin and tonics, taxis and organising masseuses by the pool on more than one occasion. They kept the rooms, pool and gardens immaculate throughout our stay. We are already discussing our next stay there which I hope is sooner rather than later!

Response from the owner Thank you for taking the time to review the villa and add some fantastic photos. It is so pleasing to hear guests enjoying their stay at the villa and we hope to see your and your family again on your next holiday to Bali.

An extended family get-together caused our Bali visit. Staying at Villa Bungawangi was our answer to not wanting to be in the Kuta area! We lucked out. Big time! Exactly as advertised ... the exotic tropical vegetation on manicured grounds [2 gardeners], three oversized, beautifully presented bedroom pavilions with totally private outside showers [2 house service personnel], the 'Balinese' central pavilion with comfortable dining and lounging for the up to 8 guests [Ketut our private chef] and the substantial 'to die for' pool and cabana area ... all combined to make the Villa Bungawangi a vacation of exquisites, including value. But what made it most exquisite were the Villa staff. They are Balinese, attentive, gentle, humble, unassuming and exceedingly competent. This team is lead by Ketut the onsite Villa manager and our personal chef. With good English, an attentive ear, 6 star culinary skills and the desire to serve, Ketut combined with all staff to 'make' the Villa Bungawangi experience 'above and beyond'. We will definitely return!

Response from the owner So pleased you had a wonderful stay and that it was a nice opportunity to get together with your family. also, so glad you treated the villa like your own home. we hope to see you again .

“Luxury at Villa Bunga Wangi”

Reviewed 19 Feb 2013

This was my first trip to Bali and what a way to experience this wonderful island. The Villa Bunga Wangi in the village of Pererenan, Canggu was everything I expected it to be and absolutely lived up to the website promises regarding the location, amenities and appearance. The accommodation and gardens had just the right feel of luxury Balinese style. It was tempting to spend the entire 10 days in those surroundings whilst being looked after by the amazing chef Katut and the villa staff. Nevertheless, day outings were a must and, with the help of our driver who was actually a great tour guide, we explored many facets of the island. Seminyak was the closest town for shopping, eating, spa facilities (very reasonably priced and a must!). Whilst the towns are accessible, I was particularly interested in driving to the countryside. Day trips consisted of about 3 hours return trip during the course of the day with frequent stops for scenery and wonderful little restaurants. Trips worth noting included the Bali Botanical Gardens at Bedugal, the temple of Ulun Danu Bratan on the shores of Lake Bratan, lunch at stunning Jatiluwih (famous for its terraced rice paddies). Other day trips of note included Penelokan in the region of Kintamani. A cooler climate in the highlands, Penelokan is an ideal place from which to view the still active volcano, Mt Batur and Lake Batur below. A delightful food stop on the way to Penelokan was in Tegallalang, known for its handcraft production and the lovely rice terraces. My favourite temple on this route was Tirta Empul (Holy Water) in the village of Tampak Siring. Other notable visits: the temple of Tanah Lot, the Kecak dancers at Uluwatu Temple in Jimbaran, the stunning Four Seasons Hotel at Sayan, Ubud, overlooking the ayung River where we took part in an exciting white water rafting trip with Bali adventure Tours, and finally the magnificent elephants at the Elephant Safari Park in Taro, Ubud. Villa Bunga Wangii and Bali are a must.

“It couldn't be better”

Yes, we've returned again for our forth visit and we still love it. This time we noticed some positive changes in the area. One major change is that there is a new road opened from Seminyak area to the Canggu area which reduced travelling time considerably and avoids the busy roads. Other changes in the area include more cafes and restaurants in the Canggu area, even the local beach has a choice of 3 cafes now! We used the local taxi service which was as simple as asking the villa staff to ring for a taxi and it arrived in 5 minutes and was clean and reliable. On our return to the villa we just had to ensure that the taxi driver used the meter rather than trying to set a fixed price and all was fine. The villa continues to be maintained so even though we have been before, everything is still in good working order and upgrades seem to be constantly being made including; new cushion covers, refurbished pool deck chairs, a new flat screen TV in the media room and we even heard that they kitchen is being refurbished (not that we ever have to personally use it during our stay!). There were new pictures in many of the rooms, new lamps and more planting in the gardens, so clearly the villa is being looked after and we certainly enjoy seeing all the upgrades and changes when we visit. We hope to visit again soon.

Response from the owner So happy that you enjoy returning to the villa and thank you for noticing the continuing improvements to enhance your enjoyment of your holiday. We and the staff look forward to your next visit to Villa Bunga Wangi!!

“Paradise visited at Villa Bunga Wangi!!”

Reviewed 6 Feb 2013

We've just spent a truly fantastic week at the Villa Bunga Wangi. This place is is a real gem - the superbly appointed rooms, the standards of comfort and cleanliness, the gardens, the pool, the wonderful friendly efficient staff, the home cooked food, I could go on but this place hit every spot!! The whole experience was superb. We will return!!!

Response from the owner So pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable stay. We very much look forward to your return whenever you wish to escape from that English weather!

“40th Birthday that we will never forget”

What do you say about a place that is so perfect? It had everything you could ask for and more. If you wanted to lay back on your private deck or by the pool and do nothing you could, if you want to go out on a day trip and explore, then the villa could organise a driver at an additional cost ( not expensive at all ) - it was that simple. A perfect holiday. If your impressed by the photos that shows the Villa you will be blown away by the real thing. The dedicated villa staff, where amazing, friendly and helpful. I wanted to take the talented cook Ketut home - the food was fantastic! It was our first time at Villa Bunga Wangi and it wont be our last, now we are trying to work out when we will go next! Mr & Mrs Meek

Response from the owner So pleased you had a fantastic trip. That's one of those reasons why we keep going back too. If you feel like being busy, there's plenty to do, if you feel like doing very little, the villa offers that too. Glad you had a memorable holiday.

“Great villa with helpful staff but air conditioners in need of a”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2012

We were a party of four adults and two children and have been to Bali a few times. The villa and the gardens were wonderful and well laid out. The kids loved the swimming pool and were hardly out of it. There is a lot of space so when the kids were enjoying the pool there were lots of other nice spots to sit and relax in. The staff at the villa were great and the food excellent. The air conditioners in the rooms were noisy. The staff did their best to balance rocks on the compressors to try and reduce the noise but it disturbed our sleep the first few nights. The toilets could also do with being fixed as they were a bit temperamental. The villa is located in an out of the way spot. The closest restaurants we found were about 20 minutes away in echo beach. There was a good selection of restaurants and the beach was great. We hired a car for the week we were there and found it really useful to be able to get out of the villa once in a while. All in all a good villa in a lovely part of Bali. We would certainly come back.

Response from the owner We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Villa Bunga Wangi. We are sorry to hear that the outside air-conditioner compressors were a little noisy and we will ensure this problem is resolved by our on-site manager with a more permanent solution than "balancing rocks"! We will also ask him to check the toilets. We particularly like that Villa Bunga Wangi is set in a more rural village location a little out of the hustle and bustle of Seminyak and always recommend to our guests to hire a car and driver for the convenience of the best of both worlds! Look forward to seeing you back again and thank you for the feed-back.

“The Best of Bali.”

Hard to improve on thia genuine Bali experience. Totally authentic, but with all the luxury touches that make for a totally relaxing and comfortable stay. Short trip to the commercial centres with all their touristy offerings, or stay around the resort and experience the real Balinese architecture and friendly Balinese staff anxious to look after your every whim. Join in the communal dining experience with fellow guests, retire to your self-contained villa, call for coffee on the verandah, soak it up. We loved it. Oh, and the bathrooms are luxurious too, but the outdoor showers in the garden are a unique experience!

Response from the owner Glad you enjoyed a touch of the real Bali. It's far enough away from the tourist traps to experience what Bali is really like, but close enough to visit when you feel like it. Hope we see you again when you are next visiting this part of the world.
