“Family Fun”

Reviewed 25 Mar 2011

I and my wife were both 70 and our children suggested that as part of the year's celebrations we all (including 7 Grandchildren) spend a week here. This was handy as we totalled 16 (the maximum numbers), and it was easy to get to for all. Our arrival was handled ideally, with the essentials of the instructions and regulations given in a way that made us feel relaxed and 'at home' in no time at all. We were a mixed bunch as far as holiday objectives were concerned, but the walking, beaching, wind surfing, beautiful scenery and historic visits to famous sites catered for all. And of course the young ones were in their element being so close to the good old seaside and, to the swimming pool in the local town when it was not beachy weather (it is Wales, after all). Tha House facilities could not have been better for us. Once the enormous week's delivery of supermarket goods had been delivered, having been ordered online in advance, it was a delight to all gather in the big warm kitchen/breakfast room for tea and cake to catch up on the latest news. We even all managed to get round the enormous dining room table for the evening meal before choosing between the superb games room, the lovely lounge with it's wood-burning stove or the comfortable settee and chairs in the kitchen annex. Those wanting to play with their laptops had the privacy of the study to shut themselves away. All the bedrooms are either double or twin and so it was no trouble at all for us to allocate them, once we got used to establishing which of the two staircases had to be used ! The garden was just ideal for the children to play and charge about in, and they had great fun on Easter morning there, trying to find who could get the most eggs. While we were there we all decided that we wanted to go back the following year, so we re-booked straight away, and have been talking about it, and looking forward to it ever since.

“So good, we've booked again for this year!”

We stayed at Ffynnon Gron over Easter 2010 and all had a truly wonderful holiday. There were 16 of us in total, ranging in age from 2 years old to 70 and the house, grounds and area offered something for everyone. The house is absolutely beautiful, most certainly the best self-catering accommodation we've stayed in: very well appointed with high quality, tasteful furniture, fixtures, towels, bedding etc. There was a good mixture of doubles and twins, most with ensuite bathrooms, and all a good size. Usually there is a scramble to get there first and bag the best room, but everyone was spoilt for choice here. We loved the space and despite there being so many of us of different ages - it worked. The little ones could get up early and race around without disturbing those lucky enough to get a lie in; similarly, the teenagers/night owls could stay up playing music and pool without being nagged to keep the noise down and Grandpa was always able to find a quiet, cosy corner to read his paper in peace. The kitchen was huge, plenty of room to cater for everyone - lots of storage for food with two big fridges. Dining room table was enormous too - could comfortably seat us all. All in all, we loved the space, d?cor, beds, showers, the dining table, the games room, the facilities overall and garden. I particularly loved the kitchen and the aga - now I know why everyone wants one. Last but not least, thanks to the Gordon family for a friendly welcome and the welcome goodies too. We all enjoyed it so much, we've booked to go again this year - can't wait to go back.
