“Great house in great neighbourhood”

Reviewed 31 Jul 2015

Stayed with my family of 5 for a week in early July We all enjoyed the house and wish we could have stayed longer All necesssary facilities were provided and house was perfectly clean and tidy The neighbourhood is charming and quiet and yet has plently of facilities and services nearby Overrall we found the house met all our expectations and was a perfect base for our week in Portrland

Response from the owner Thank you for the nice review. I enjoyed meeting you and your family and welcome you back again. I am glad you enjoyed the flowers and gardens as this hot year it takes a bit of water to maintain them. Enjoy your Summer.

“beautiful home, must be kept clean”

Reviewed 28 Nov 2013

We very much enjoyed our stay at the victorian. There were some lovely touches by Ken, and he was very attentive to our stay despite being taken out of town unexpectedly for personal reasons. I would caution that you are expected to leave the house in condition ready for the next check in, including washing and drying sheets. Otherwise you may not get your cleaning deposit back. This can be challenging if you are on a restricted time schedule, but we had no problems. A wonderful option for two adult couples and some children.

Response from the owner By asking for a cleaning deposit, I give my guests the option of cleaning the Victorian back to the check in state or having housekeeping do it. This is standard practice in this industry to insure a high quality of experience. It is your choice whether to clean or not.

“We had a fun and relaxing time!”

We had a great stay in this Victoria house. The kitchen is beautiful and well stocked. On our last night there we cooked out on the grill. The location is easy to access from anywhere in Portland. Our favorite part is the kitchen and dining area.

“Oasis in Portland”

Reviewed 5 May 2013

I stayed at this Victorian home in southwest Portland with and my daughter, son in law and my 3 sisters in law for a week mid-April. The location is close to both Portland and Beaverton and a short distance to Portland's freeway I-5 and Hwy 217. The house is very tastefully decorated and comfortable. It was the perfect house for our family. We had travelled from Ireland to be with my ex-husband in his last days as he sadly lost his long arduous battle with cancer. Ken the owner, who lives in an apartment in the upper story of the property was very kind, friendly and very supportive to us during this very sad and difficult time. He even furnished us with a bottle of Tullamore Dew, a bottle of Jameson and a bottle of Baily's. The house gave us a great place to all get together and reminisces about John. Ken was very gracious in letting my son and his girlfriend, my brother in law and my children's' step mother and her two children all congregate in the house during the week for meals even though they were not staying in the house. The hot tub was a wonderful relaxing retreat to help us de-stress. We enjoyed creating wonderful meals in the well equipped kitchen. The house was exactly what we needed. The master bedroom is very nice and the bathroom is luxurious with a dual shower though the lack of door to the master ensuite is a little disconcerting and as another reviewer pointed out sharing a bathroom with no door can be challenging. The twin beds were very comfortable and my daughter assures me the queen bed in the third room was a joy to sleep in. The neighbourhood is a leafy suburb with the most beautiful blossoms adorning the gardens of the other properties in the little streets; they were a joy to walk though when one needed quiet time. I would highly recommend this Victorian house rental to anyone who desires the comforts of home, in a beautiful neighbourhood. Thanks again Ken

“An oasis for our aching hearts”

Reviewed 2 May 2013

Recently we as a family needed to rent accommodation at short notice the importance of our journey from Dublin was to be to be close and together as a family. This beautiful house was luxurious and welcoming, forming an oasis to our aching hearts. A beautifully outfitted kitchen to cook large family meals to nourish us. Should add our host was more than generous with a welcoming bottle of wine and three bottles of Irish spirits the 2nd night ! Medicinal don't you know! A lovely arrangement for items from kitchen to be used and packets to be kept so landlord could replace Beds were extremely comfortable I particularly liked my velvet bed covers.Hot tub was an added luxury new to me and brought fun and relaxation even in the rain. Loved the porch too. So no complaints just compliments for this lovely house. Highly recommend it for rent.

Response from the owner Thank you for the nice review. You and your family were great guests and I hope to see you all again.

“Lovely spacious comfortable house a total chill.”

Reviewed 26 Apr 2013

We were a family from Ireland who stayed for a family gathering in this house in april for ten days. The minute we stepped into the house we felt at home and Ken the owner went out of his way to make us feel welcome. The house is really spacious ,well maintained and equipped.the kitchen is top class and two of our family are serious chefs. The beds are super comfortable with lovely linens and loads of towels . We used the hot tub a lot and found it a great place to chill. Portland is a great city , tax free and the house is conveniently located for exploring this beautiful area.

“A wonderful time in a beautiful home.”

My wife and I stayed at this Victorian home in southwest Portland with another couple for a getaway weekend. As a former Portland resident, I knew the location would be ideal for it is close to both Portland and Beaverton, with easy access to both I-5 and Hwy 217--the main freeways through Portland's west side. The home is beautifully decorated and appointed. The kitchen is also well stocked and equipped for serious cooking. The master bedroom is very nice and the bathroom is luxurious---huge dual shower is a great touch. The bed was also very comfortable. Ken the owner, who lives in another unit on the property was very gracious and friendly. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone who desires the comforts of home, in a very nice west side neighborhood, centrally located to both Beaverton and Portland. We'll definitely be back!

Response from the owner Thank you Robert. I look forward to your next stay at the Victorian. Ken Murray Owner

“Fantastic beautiful house with amazInG beds!!”

Reviewed 7 Feb 2013

We had such a lovely stay here in Portland. We rented the house as we where coming to Portland for our Grandpa's 90th birthday. It was the perfect house for our family. It gave us a great place to all hang out together and the house it's self is fabulous. The beds are amazing as well and the ensuite certainly has that wow factor. We did hire a car, that certainly made it easy to get around but I understand that the public transport isn't far and is good but haven't experienced it ourselves. Would stay here again without a second thought!!! Loved every minute of it! Thanks again Ken

“lovely accommodation, comfy furniture”

Reviewed 14 Nov 2012

I visited Portland for the very first time with three other women on an annual, 4 night getaway. Over the years we have rented a number of nice places on Vancouver Island but this lovely house was our most successful rental to date. The house is spotlessly clean and the furniture is modern yet comfortable which is important to a group of women of varied ages and sizes. There is more than enough kitchen gear and dishes as well as fluffy towels and a fancy double shower. To our delight we found a complementary bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived travel weary and at least 3 hours late (we took a wrong turn and drove all the way around the Olympic Peninsula). The November weather made getting around on foot a bit more challenging for some but the hardiest of our group walked a fair bit in the quiet residential neighborhood and even attempted to walk to the downtown (which is quite a long way on foot). Our group did have a car which meant that we did not have to wait for buses in the rain. The city center is a 10-15 minute drive away and there we found lots to do. Although the owner Ken was away, his surrogate Brooke was more than willing to help should we have needed anything. We felt very well looked after and a happy time was had my all.

Response from the owner Thank you Susan. I look forward to hosting your group again in the future.

“Even better than we hoped for!!”

Reviewed 27 Nov 2011

Our family needed a cozy, homey atmosphere for Thanksgiving! We wanted to be with our grown sons in Portland area and some extended family. This home gave us the ideal way to enjoy cooking for a large group of people (17) and a very comfortable, peaceful atmosphere. A beautiful home with unexpected room, delightful extras and plenty of space for dining, playing games, enjoying a fireplace and more. Thank you, Ken for being the most gracious host, generous and very accomadating. Communication from beginning to end was excellent! The Studio apartment above the garage was very pleasant for my parents. We would definitely stay again!! Thank you!!

Response from the owner Cheryl, Thank you for the review. I look forward to hosting your family in the future. You were great guests.
