“We Didn't Want to Leave!!!”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2011

An absolutely perfect stay in every way!A fabulously designed and functional cottage in a most beautiful setting overlooking Rebecca Spit - the outdoor soaker tub (adjustable to both cold/hot water) was our favourite! We also ejoyed the state-of-the art kitchen appliances and BBQ on the deck during our stay, enjoyed making many meals on our own and only ate out 3 times during our 3 weeks stay (we stayed at this cottage, as well as the smaller cabin at Luna Vista). Most of all, the hosts, Doug and Gretchen were most amazing and gracious -thoughtful to every detail in preparing for us, then leaving us alone to enjoy the beautiful cottage but were always available when we needed them. The cottage was a great base for our many enjoyable hikes/walks (Great views: Chinese Mountain, nice path under big trees at Rebecca Spit), biking, relaxing on many isolated beaches, kayaking (to Breton island - saw seals, eagles, colorful starfish). Also be sure to check out the many artists on the island and the Farmer's Market (Saturdays in the summer). For groceries - there are two well-stocked grocery stores on the island. Overall, highly recommend Luna Vista!! It was a perfect stay for us!!

“Perfect Gulf Islands Getaway”

My husband and I enjoyed a fantastic week at Luna Vista. The cottage is exquisitely handcrafted, beautifully furnished, and lovingly maintained. The deck and soaker tub look out onto a stunning view of mountains and fjords. The cottage is quiet and private yet we could walk to the pub, grocery store, and for ice cream. One rainy day a scrabble board appeared on our doorstep, just one of the thoughtful gestures of our kind hosts. Not to be missed if you want a perfect taste of the best that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

“Bella Luna Vista”

We loved this vacation rental. It's a perfect little package of everything one could wish for in a Discovery Island retreat. When you turn into the driveway the views of the cove, spit and mountains take your breath away. The cabin is new, spotlessly clean, beautifully designed and appointed, and the soaking tub on the front porch is genius. Doug and Gretchen are wonderful hosts's. It is very private, yet close to some town amenities so you can walk for groceries,to local hangouts like Harriot Bay Inn (check out the live music), to beach walks, and strolling the island neighborhoods, just like the locals. Quadra Island is a great place to enjoy kayaking, hiking, fishing, visiting artisan shops, and is also a hop from Cortes Island which has it's own really interesting flavor. To us the best part of the trip was the people. Some places you go are tourist weary and a little cold, but not Quadra. We will definitely return, and hope everyone takes care of this little gem in the mean time! Thank you again Doug and Gretchen.
