We went down for a family vacation in September which consisted of my parents, my brother and his wife, myself and my fiancee and two adult grandchildren and a friend. So the bedroom lay out was perfect having 3 master suites with their own baths. The kitchen/dining/living area was open and made it very entertaining friendly. We were able to visit with everyone while some were cooking and others chilling out in the living room. A large part of the time was spent on the back porch which was very relaxing and since it was a wrap around porch provided all the room we needed. Location put us close enough that we could walk to the Blue Parrot to celebrate our team winning the football on Saturday but just far enough off the beaten path that there was not a lot of traffic. Rvp responded very quickly to the few requests that we had. All in all I would definitely rent Salty Dawg again and recommend using Resort Vacation Properties as we have already in the past.

“St. George is always great!”

We always enjoy our time on St. George and Salty Dawg was nice but without early reservation incentives I won't stay there again.

Response from the manager Dear Jerry, We appreciate your feedback about the decision to exclude Salty Dawg from our specials program. Salty Dawg is our most affordable beachfront 4 bedroom/4 bath home so it was determined that the advertised rental rate compensates for the exception. It is stylish, well-maintained and the views from the covered porch are, without a doubt, some of the finest on St. George Island. We hope you will reconsider and choose Salty Dawg again for its great value. Cordially, Resort Vacation Properties

“Great potential...could have and should have been better.”

The Salty Dawg is a great looking house. The porch is amazing as is the crow's nest. It's roomy with lovely views. We liked the porch swing, the location, the grilling area downstairs, parking, etc. The part that wasn't so great were the beds, the smell, and the cockroaches. The King bed in the master is uncomfortable. The mattress seems old and lumpy. The garbage disposal and the refrigerator/freezer stink. I mean they stink like rotten, dead fish. We kept putting soap in the disposal to drown out the smell coming from it. It smelled like someone put fish down it and left it. We also saw many cockroaches, especially in the kitchen and the bathrooms. Besides some large ones, there were baby ones as though they were hatching out in the house. If the owners/managers would replace the disposal, replace the refrigerator, get rid of the cockroaches, and replace the King mattress this rental would be hard to beat. In fact it would be possibly the best rental in the area. As much as we liked it for it's location, size, amenities, etc. the smell, bugs, and creepy mattress were enough to make us go looking for something else next time, unless we hear things have been updated.

The whole family loved every moment of our vacation. The Salty Dawg is a beautiful home, perfect location. We would love to go back next year.

“Best family vacation ever!!!”

Perfect beachfront home for our family of 7 adults and 1 grandchild. Conveniently located to all businesses and restaurants on the island but also quiet. Closer to the water than I expected. Planatation style back porch overlooks the water is wonderful any time of day and the widow's walk is awesome for sunsets. Can't wait to visit again!

“A perfect beach house in a perfect setting”

Reviewed 25 May 2012

This is the fourth beach house we've rented on SGI and is by far the best. The layout, the decor, the furnishings, the spaciousness, the convenient kitchen were all a cut above expectations. And wait till you see the huge wrap-around porch! Sit in the comfortable adirondack chairs, or on the double porch swing, and sip coffee (or wine, depending on the time of day) and watch dolphins swim by. Turn your head to the left and watch the magnificent sunrise over the Gulf; turn your head to the right and watch the glorious sunset just beyond your own palm tree. We took wonderful long walks on the beach with our dog, then headed down to the shrimp truck for just-caught shrimp, scallops or grouper to throw on the double park grill. We definitely want to come back.

Our family from Iowa came down and we spent a week in the Salty Dawg. We had a great time, and the house was perfect for us. We had 7 in all, 3 kids and 4 adults. The location was great as it is right on the beach, and just a short walk to the business district. The Iowa folks fell in love with St. George Island. We are trying to plan another vacation on the island, and of course we will use Resort Vacation Properties again.

“A wonderful house to stay in.”

The house is great. Perfect views from the Widows Walk. The only draw back is the house is a little expensive, to much for me with no early bird specials. A shame to, I would rent the house every year if it still had early bird specials.

“Great location and home for families with tweens”

This house was declared a favorite by my family. The house is well furnished, the paved parking deck was awesome for playing games out of the sun. The location is really great for those teenagers. They can have a little freedom but still be close enough to keep under supervision. The widows walk was incredible at night but not good for younger children who can't sit still. The stairs are scary at night.

“Comfortable house. Beautiful location.”

It was perfect for our family reunion. A spacious layout, allowing each of the four bedrooms to feel private. Fabulous porch. Loved it! The roof deck was real a plus! Recommend this place highly
