“My New Getaway Spot”
My experience with Casa Juanita, and Casa Vina Del Mar was seamless and amazing. I decided to take a two-week vacation on my own and had never been to Mexico. I arranged my stay with Greg and he updated me periodically as my special time came near. I was given detailed instructions on how to get from the airport to the house, was greeted when I arrived at Casa Vina and received support throughout my stay. The apartment is absolutely lovely. With breathtaking views of the town and ocean, I spent a great deal of time relaxing and taking in the scenery. When people ask me what I did for two weeks, I love saying "I just sat and watched the sunset on my porch" because that real;y was a huge part of my experience. Just steps away from the house is an amazing vegetarian buffet, a French bistro with amazing drinks and dishes, convenience stores, banks and access to buses and boardwalk. It is ridiculously convenient in its location to anything you could possibly need. The kitchen (I love to cook) is another place I spent a lot of time. With its open-air layout, you look at the ocean and town as you do dishes or cook, it's amazing. I could go on forever about Casa Vina, and feel that words cannot truly express what a magical place this is. I have already recommended it to all my friends and wanted to share my wonderful experience with the Tripadvisor community as well! Ps: The apartment has faster internet than I have at home in San Francisco : )
If you want to experience Puerto Vallarta, I encourage you to stay at Casa Juanita. Location is perfect, close to amenities. The service was excellent, and the view extraordinary. Great experience overall, no complaints. If you would rather experience a resort experience... well this is not the place to be, if you want a vacation, seize the opportunity!
“Wonderful panoramic view”
Not for the unfit as the apartment is situated on a steep hill, but once there the climb is well worth it. Owner charming and helpful. The furnishing are a little tired but for us did not detract. Would we return? Yes. Open plan living was the plus with a well equipped kitchen. Weekly maid which was nice as we stayed for three weeks. Little shop which was well stocked close by. Nice Tapas restaurant opposite. One quickly gets used to the sound of the church bells, but on our first Friday night we heard disco music coming from the Malacon until 5-am! This never occurred again thank goodness.
“Perfect place to stay”
Its view is consistently stunning and it comes equipped with most all amenities. You can cook comfortably like at home. Even in June, the fans did a fairly adequate job of keeping the open aired house comfortable. I loved hanging out in the living room watching the sunset. It's location is great, in el centro. I've lived in Vallarta and visited many times, have stayed in many hotels and found this to be my favorite place to stay. The tapas place accross the street is one of my favorite restaraunts in PV too! Definitely stay here. I would only caution elders, or those with disabilities to avoid it because the hill is very steep, hence the view.
“Amazing vacation getaway”
Beautiful view, the ocean was right in front of us. Hanging out in the living room was just as fun as going out. The apt was incredibly convienient, very close to amazing restaurants and bars. Don't miss out on the tapas place across the street, we went there 3 times!
“Awesome apartment get-away”
Casa Juanita is a charming apartment in Old Vallarta that I can't recommend highly enough. I stayed there for 8 days and had a marvelous vacation. It is a few blocks up the hill from many major streets, so it has a quieter and more residential feel without being too far from all the shops and eateries you'll need. The open air kitchen and living room are simply amazing living spaces, and really convenient for longer visits. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with cookware and whatnot. I much prefer the apartment feel to a hotel, although I did appreciate the maid service once a week. The sunsets are more brilliant than these pictures can really capture, as are the views. It was clean, comfortable, and very livable. I am going to return, hopefully for a longer period of time!
“Great location with magnificent views”
We have been vacationing in Puerto Vallarta for twenty years. Two years ago we started staying downtown and now wished we had done that years ago. Some friends introduced us to Casa Juanita where we have stayed for the last two vacations and plan on staying there again this year. Everything you could need is with in walking distance, i.e. great restaurants, shopping, art galleries, food markets, beaches and bars. Be prepared to walk some steep roads as Casa Vina del Mar is on a hill which accounts for the magnificent views. Because it is located near many activities light sleepers should bring a pair of ear plugs. The management is very accommadating and professional. We are looking forward to returning and highly recommend Casa Juanita.
“Casa Juanita a Hidden Gem”
Casa Juanita in Casa Vina Del Mar is a hidden gem. The living room has No Walls! Just an expansive and amazing view of the entire Bay of Banderas, accentuated by the close proximity of the "cathedral” steeple. It has a great back story which connects it to the early expat days in PV (owned by John Huston's secretary). The architecture and feel of the place harks back to those days in a charming way. Centrally located but above the hub-bub. You would never guess that the amphitheatre on the Malecon is a short five-block walk in one direction, the Isla de Cuale a short five-block walk in another direction. There is a quaint little tapas restaurant across the street, a great vegetarian restaurant down the hill, and the fashionable Hacienda San angel down the block. Friendly management. Reasonably priced. I come back every year.
