Our DOVE's NEST***** holiday house in Riquewihr is one of our 15 holiday gites in Alsace. It earned its official 5-star classification by the French ministry of Tourism in Dec 2014.

The Dove's Nest is a romantic house with luxury self catering accommodation for up to 4 pers (max 2 couples in 2 double rooms). A large & elegant living space spreads over the first floor: lounge, kitchen and Alsatian 'stub' (dining room). Our romantic medieval house is a listed national heritage building. It is embedded in the medieval rampart (built 1500) of Riquewihr, only some yards away of the famous fortified gates of the Obertor and the Dolder. On the mountainside, the medieval city wall is the western wall of the house. On the street side, it is an Alsatian traditional timber framed house. Decorated with great care and especially equipped for 2 couples looking for an outstanding holiday home on the Alsace wine route, at the foot of the Vosges a few minutes of Colmar only. It is a romantic house with 2 double rooms (double bed and private bathroom for each one of them).

Getting around

If you fly in for a longer stay we recommend you rent a car. For a short stay you may arrive by train in Colmar and from there take a bus or a taxi. We can arrange a taxi with an English speaking driver. Riquewihr is a very practical base to visit all Alsace, the Vosges mountains, the Black Forest in Germany and nearby Switzerland. We also can arrange electro-bikes for rent.

Our house manager will greet you upon arrival and show you the apartment. She will give you her mobile phone number and will be available for you for any request during your stay (daytime 09:00-11:00 and 15:00-18:30). Upon arrival you will receive a personal file with suggestions and practical info about what to do and what to see in the area.

Response from the manager Thank you for sharing your experience. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the apartment and the area. I would like to take this opportunity to point out some technical aspects about the Dove's Nest house. The second coffee machine is a Nespresso machine making a wonderful expresso. It needs special capsules of coffee to work. It is possible to order them from us when booking or from any Nespresso shop. The large TV in the living room is coupled with a DVD, CD and FM system. It is also offering satellite channels as well as terrestrial digital TV. I have to admit that this complex equipment might sometimes be difficult to handle. Apart from the technical manuals available in several languages, our house manager is always happy to help when necessary. She can be reached with the telephone available in the living room which is also offering a free call service anywhere in the world. On the same table there is a computer with an internet adsl connection. The cable can be connected to any computer and provides then a very quick connection without having to use the wifi. But of course, if the internet service provider fails, all our equipment can only wait until the connection returns :-)
