“Absolutely Beautiful and Truly French”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2013

By far the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. There is no staying in alsace without staying here! Excellent service, gorgeous home built into the wall of the city. Made for a true French living experience!

“Great Location and Value”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2011

Great find for us - two couples who love food and wine. Beds are comfortable, facilities just perfect, walk to the boulanger and charcuterie. Only issue I had was the a/c system got overloaded once or twice, had to work too hard, but all was fixed.

“Travel France”

Town old and unique. Accommodations also old and unique with a remodeled modern touch and comforts. In the middle of French wine country

“The Best!”

Reviewed 3 Mar 2011

My friends and stayed here for a week, and it could not have been nicer. The apartment was spacious, spotless, and had everything we needed. The location was wonderful. We used Riquewihr as a "base camp," and drove to many other beautiful towns nearby. I hope to visit again one day. The owner, Jean-Paul, runs a top-notch business, and he genuinely wants to offer the very best in accommodations. I would highly recommend any of his apartment or house rentals, as I know they would all be of the same high quality.

“A Truly Memorable Experience”

Reviewed 3 Mar 2011

My parents and I cannot speak highly enough of our stay in Ricquwihr. The apartment was absolutely perfect and the fully decorated Christmas Tree just made it feel like home. Everything you could want in a holiday home is provided and the attention to detail is incredible. We were so moved by the place that we immediately wanted to extend our stay. The little village is gorgeous and to be able to be there during the Christmas Markets was an unforgetable experience. Vanessa was so lovely and helpful and it was great to get to meet you Jean-Paul. We would highly recommend staying at this property and really hope to return there on day. We live in australia so that will take some doing!

“good slightly spoilt by volume of tourists”

“Ideal Christmas Break in Traditional Surroundings”

Reviewed 28 Feb 2011

We wanted a "short break" with a Christmas atmosphere and this was achieved fully at the apartment in Riquewihr. The accomodation was exactly as we expected from the web-site, beautifully furnished and homely in a local traditonal way. Location excellent as we knew about Riquwihr before and had desried staying in the old town which is where the accomodation was. The town of Riquewihr is a great spot to tour around the other villages of the alsace. The only let down was the TV which was not set-up correctly, had been tampered with we think and did not accomodate English channels yet had "satelite" reception. After a day's wandering in was great to relax with the warm fire but the absence of TV reception and the inability to play Dvd's at first was a disappointment. However after some work with service we were able to fix the DVD problem, last night of our stay. Never the less, this was a small problem and does not deter us from visiting again.

“Accommodation with excellence and style”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2011

From the moment of our arrival for a 10 day stop we immediately felt at home. The decor, the ambience and the locality were first rate. The accommodation had everything. It was close to all services yet far enough away from the tourist routes to give peace and quiet. One thing that took some getting used to was "the Bells, the Bells!" Very near to the Tower! Once you got used to them it was OK! As for self catering it would be difficult to find somewhere better to stay. We will be looking at Martine and Jean Paul's other properties when we return again to the beautiful alsace.

Response from the owner Thank you Margaret and Graham. And a good news regarding the bells of the medieval tower: the city of Riquewihr now finally stops the bells during the night!

“Stepping Back in Time yet with Modern Luxuries”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2011

We ( my husband and I and another couple) were met by Valerie when we arrived, and she was welcoming and very helpful in showing us how everything worked in the house. A day or so later when we had a problem figuring out how to use the tv, she came right over to assist us. Le Colombier is in a superb setting in the village, and it has been restored in such a way as to retain the integrity of its very interesting history. It is beautifully decorated in alsatian style yet it has up-to-date amenities that make life very comfortable such as a pellet-burning fireplace, modern plumbing, fully equipped kitchen, access to washer/dryer, and a Nespresso machine! (We just "had" to buy one when returning home!) I would have liked more than one bath towel per person, but that is the only thing that I would change. Although the word "charming" is overworked in reviews, I cannot think of a better word to describe Le Colombier or Riquewihr itself; the village is a wonderful place from which to explore alsace. We discovered that a week was not nearly enough time to see all that we had hoped to in the area. I would highly recommend Le Colombier, and we hope to return ourselves someday.

“Simply Lovely Holiday!”
