“Fabulous in Falmouth”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2013

This is our third stay in this studio apartment. It has a great location on the Old High Street in Falmouth. It's large terrace and cathedral windows give a fantastic, uninterrupted view of the river and across to the Roseland peninsula at all times. This view is always changing and frankly you just never get tired of looking at it. The apartment has pretty much everything you need and is clearly looked after well by both the owner( who lives abroad but stays here herself) and the housekeeper. Falmouth is a great base to explore the rest of Cornwall. However, if you'd rather stay in Falmouth and the immediate area, there's enough to keep you occupied. Numerous boat trips and ferries depart Prince of Wales pier, less than five minutes walk away. The beach is the other side of town, but can still be walked to in 20 minutes. Falmouth is full of pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets and has plenty of independent shops. Whilst there are some chains, it's certainly not an identikit town centre. There's an independent greengrocer, fishmonger, butcher, numerous bakeries and delis. So you definitely can avoid Tesco here. There's often something going on in Events Square, near the Maritime Museum(a must). There's plenty of art galleries and an arts centre( Royal Cornwall Polytechnic)- during our visit we caught a viewing of the almodovar film, I'm So Excited. You may even catch a cruise ship docking here- one did during our stay. Great apartment, great town

“A truly special apartment”

We have stayed at Puffins three times now. We always look forward to returning. The apartment is spotlessly clean when we arrive. There is always a welcome pack and a nice welcome letter on arrival. We appreciate having free Wifi as we use it a lot to find information about Falmouth on the internet. The flat is fully equipped. There are plenty of places to eat or to get food to cook. The Farmers Market on a Tuesday is well recommended. We will of course be making a booking for next year.

“Puffins was an excellent location for our stay in Cornwall”

Reviewed 3 Jun 2013

The beautiful Puffins apartment was only surpassed by the views over the Falmouth estuary. The exceptional late spring weather meant we were able to explore a great deal of this beautiful county, visiting National Trust properties and even sunbathing at St Ives (when there were hail showers in other parts of the country)! Thank you for making our stay so memorable.

“Haven of peace, tranquility & extraordinary beauty”

...and that is what it is exactly; A haven of peace, tranquility & extraordinary beauty. The place to come back to, to Be, to recharge health and happiness.

“Lovely, convenient and totally wonderful stay!”

Reviewed 4 Apr 2013

Puffins location, comfort and view is spectacular. We were greeted with a wonderful hospitality package including enough goodies (coffee, cookies, wine, etc.) to get us started. The ownersd pre-arrival information was perfect and there was absolutely no "klinkers" finding the parking spot, keys, etc. The home is very modern and comfortable offering everything the visitor needs. Being from the U.S., we really appreciated the very specific labeling of switches as well as detailed appliance instructions. The location could not be better..just a walk down High Street to shopping, pubs, transportation and groceries. We were not disappointed in any way and look forward to our next visit.

“Exceptional”

Reviewed 26 Feb 2013

The location and views are exceptional. From the bed you can watch the sun rise over Falmouth. Even in poor weather you can watch the ferries crossing and the boats entering Falmouth harbour from your terrace. Guests are made very welcome, booking is clear and all advice is very helpful. Everything is exceptionally clean and also easy to use with simple, helpful instructions. There is help if you need it. falmouth is an excellent centre with lots to do and the addition of a small parking space means that you can have a relaxing care free break.

“A relaxing winter break”

Reviewed 26 Feb 2013

Puffins was easy to find, thanks to Mary Lynn's detailed instructions. A bottle of wine with glasses at the ready, was waiting to greet us; what better welcome could there be? At first I wondered where we were going to stow the luggage, but everything in the relatively small apartment is so well organised that there was no problem. This is certainly the best equipped apartment we've ever stayed in. The Town Centre and ferry departure points are less than a 5 minute walk from Puffins, so the car stayed in the garage for much of the week. The walk to the beach is the best part of 2 miles away although it would have been possible to get there by bus. On the way back from the beach, we walked down Jacob's Ladder; which was preferable to walking up. On a ferry trip to St Mawes, a crew member called us on deck to see dolphins;a real bonus. Another trip was to the wonderful Trelissick gardens which can be reached by ferry in the summer. There are restaurants and pubs galore and several of the pubs have music in the evening. A special treat was jazz on Monday at the Star and Garter; literally a minute from Puffins. The band was labelled as "modern" but it's the sort of modern jazz that has a tune! Sitting in bed drinking coffee and watching the boats was a great start to each day. All in all a great week

“Simply excellent!”

Reviewed 3 Aug 2012

From the moment we registered our interest in the property we have had excellent customer care from personalised emails notifying us on payments to wonderfully detailed information about 'Puffins' and Falmouth. On arrival we were greeted by spectacular views from the balcony and a clean and welcoming apartment complete with a welcome tray and personalised card. The interior is light and modern with wonderful artwork adorning the walls. All the facilities were in perfect working order with clear and concise instructions. With all the little touches, from a DVD collection to books and pamphlets on the area, we instantly felt at home and found it very easy to settle in. Puffins is situated at the top of the Old High Street in Falmouth meaning it is only a short walk to shops and restaurants. It is also very close to the pier and the Moor providing excellent links to the boats and buses. When sitting on the balcony there are views over to Flushing and St Mawes making this a lovely place to sit in the evening or early morning to watch the boats. From beginning to end we have loved our time at 'Puffins' and all the service that has been provided. It was the perfect honeymoon destination and we can't wait to return!

“Heaven by the sea”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2012

This is our second visit to puffins and it didn't disappoint. The standards are extrememly high and the property is well maintained. The owner has thought of all those little touches that improve your holiday. The property is in a great spot for both seeing the attractions and also going out to eat and drink in the evening without having to drive!! Your car is also parked in a secure location across the road and has it's own allocated space, which is a huge plus point as Falmouth can be difficult to park in. We will certainly be back when we next come down to Cornwall.

Response from the owner It's always a particular pleasure welcoming guests back to Puffins, knowing that especially on second (and third and forth) visits they will walk in - as we do - with that special feeling of coming back to to a well-cared-for home. Thank you for your review, Alison, and we look forward to your next stay.
