“This is one of the best rentals in SMa.”

Reviewed 9 May 2013

I love this house and have stayed there several times. Everything about it is charming and the location can't be better. It is literally just a few steps to the Jardin. The staff is excellent. It has a wonderful outside living space with fireplace and comfortable furniture where everyone gathers undercover and next to the fountain. the three bedrooms are quite separated and each has its own outside space. One of the bedrooms is a bit small for two people . (It has a double bed and tiny bathroom). The furniture in the livingroom is a bit gloomy but the room itself is beautiful.

“Sweet!”

We stayed at Casa Pina for the first two weeks of april, and had a comfortable, relaxing time there. The house is full of light, lovely with all the various and varied plants, including climbing trumpet vines and bougainvillea that provide dense shelter and nectar for birds whose songs fill the air. The house, in a perfect central location, has comfortable beds, fine linens, a well-stocked kitchen that any foodie would lust after. We explored the many corners and nooks of the house, watching the sunset from the highest spots, but in the main, after running ourselves ragged around the city, we loved to retreat to the comfortable sala, where we spent many hours reading, staring at the fine art on the walls, drifting and dreaming to the birdsong, trying to figure out the random-seeming bursts of church bells. Tere the housekeeper and Mari the cook were cheerful and pampering, and cooked some wonderful meals for us, including the best chiles rellenos we've ever had - nothing like the pathetic versions we get in this country. Casa Pina's owner, Aleida, could not have been more helpful, or patient with our many questions. She recommended a driver, Martin Gonzalez, who not only picked us up and drove us back to Queretaro airport, but who also took us out to Mineral de Pozos one day, and on another, hauled us around the countryside to see a couple of chapels and some other interesting things. It was great to have such a safe, courteous, bilingual driver. Our one gripe - and it was not the fault of the place itself - was a yapper of a dog in a nearby house. Since we couldn't strangle the thing, which we'd have happily done, we had to sleep with ear plugs and a fan, which Tere provided and which was good for not only helping to mask the random, often-prolonged barking, but which also cooled off the room for more comfortable sleeping.

“Fantastic!”

Just spent a week in SMa with best friends under ideal circumstances, in a beautiful colonial home 2 blocks from the Jardin, with staff that catered to our every need and prepared great food. We spent a lot of time in the outdoor sala by the wood fire reliving good times and planning a return to SMa. The home is on one of the best streets (picturesque and quiet) in town and is furnished with top quality items in neutral colors--soothing, elegant and very comfortable.

“Beautiful, comfortable home in Centro”

Reviewed 15 Feb 2012

Of the many rental options in San Miguel de allende, this has to be one of the very best. It is right in Centro, steps from the Jardin and the Parroquia and the best shops and restaurants In fact, many of the postcards, featuring the Parroquia with a a picturesque street view in the foreground, are taken near the front door of this beautiful, colonial home. It is built around a central courtyard garden, with a fountain. The three bedrooms each have their own terrace and private area, so it is easy for three couples to stay and not get in each other's way. My husband and I stayed for three weeks during an unusually cold January and were extremely comfortable the whole time. The bedrooms have fireplaces and electric blankets to take the nip out of the air, should you need to. We only had to turn them on occasionally for an hour in the evening and we were toasty warm. Evenings, when we weren't out enjoying San Miguel's nightlife, we spent in the outdoor living room - open to the courtyard, in front of the wood-burning fireplace, relaxing, reading, listening to music. Maria, the cook, made the most delicious breakfasts and lunches. She could cook anything we wanted, but mostly, we just asked her to make whatever she found fresh at the market and were never disappointed. Theresa, the maid, kept the place spotless and did our laundry. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful and comfortable home.
