“Lovely stay in Caroga”

Reviewed 22 May 2017

Robin's Nest is a lovely home with everything you could want for a family vacation. Nicely decorated, clean, fully equipped kitchen. I'd love to come back for a longer stay in the summer, when we could take advantage of the lake in warmer weather! Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that the water smelled strongly of sulphur. After calling the owner and being advised to run the water to flush it out, it cleared up. Just sad we spent a day with stinky water. Other than that, it was great and I'd go again.

Response from the owner Patty, hope you return! Thank you for your kind words. If the water sits too long....some times it gets sulphury.....country living I suppose! Glad you found a trick :)

“Could not say more wonderful things about this charming home . . .”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2014

We could no say more wonderful things about this charming vacation rental. It is wonderful. Everything the description says it is. You catch window-framed views of the sunset through the front living room and upstairs master bedroom windows. The house has everything you would want or need - it is stocked better than your own home - with dishes, pans, glassware, tea and coffee pots, coffee grinders, a wonderful old pool table that provides for hours of fun, flat screen televisions, high speed wireless internet and more. It is brand new, while using original bar doors for the downstairs bedroom and bathroom. The stairs on the first landing are from the original house and have a wonderful, rustic railing, although I understand that new stairs will replace the old stairs on the first landing when we visit in the fall. The house is literally about 100 steps, or a short block and half to a private shared beach, with a private dock where you can rent canoes and kayaks. The marina is just a short drive away where you can rent pontoon boats or motor boats for the day. And, literally, just a 2 minute walk away is a wonderful, rustic coffee/breakfast shop, complete with Adirondack charm. The big yard has a brand new BBQ, a cast iron fire pit, Adirondack chairs, a beautiful flagstone patio and as I understand it was just regarded and landscaped to be even better than when we stayed there. Everyone of us had fun, from my 71 year old mother in law on down to the children (ages 6, 4, 4 and 3.

Response from the owner Hope you can visit again some day Paige! :)

“Clean and Comfortable”

Reviewed 3 Apr 2014

My wife's from the area, so we stay on the lake a couple times a year. Robin's Nest will definitely be a top choice for future visits. It's larger then most houses around lake and has been completely renovated so it's warm and spotlessly clean. The pool talbe is also a plus!

“Great winter get-a-way!”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2014

Our family of 4 stayed in the winter and had a great time!! Plenty of space and so very fun!! Perfect location for skiers! Only 5 min. from Royal Mt! We were skiing everyday and back at Robin's nest at night! The gas fire places make it warm and toasty!! I was worried that it may be drafty and chilly but it wasn't at all!! Love the decor! Rustic, yet whimsical and chic!! I have only 2 very minor negatives, the stairs would not be suitable for very small children and the King size bed is very, very, very firm. Other than those 2 tiny things, everything else was simply perfect!!! We had lots of fun playing pool and enjoying the open concept layout! I would absolutely stay again and not hesitate to recommend to anyone!! Love the tile "wood" floor in the downstairs bath (by the way the bathrooms are fantastic, clean, modern, spacious!) You will thoroughly enjoy your stay!! Ps, I have no idea what it's like in the summer as we only stayed in winter :)
