“Gail's Mission Beach Getaway was Perfect.”

Reviewed 7 May 2014

I booked Gail's Mission Beach Getaway at the last minute and was extremely pleased with not only the ideal location but also the comfortable accommodations. The place sits atop a bakery and the morning smell of fresh baked goods was refreshing. The place felt very spacious inside and had everything we needed. The balcony was perfect for partial ocean views and watching the street action by the Boardwalk restaurant. My son and I used the two beach cruisers daily and had a great time riding back and forth from South Mission Beach to Pacific Beach. The parking spot was ideal although it cannot accommodate a large car or SUV. It was very convenient to have considering parking in MB can be difficult to find. We will definitely be back soon and look forward to staying here again.

This rental was clean, well equipped, and so convenient. Close to shops, restaurants and the beach. Would definitely stay here again.

“Perfect location, great little condo, makes for a wonderful vaca”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2014

Initially upon arrival, I worried a bit about the neighborhood, as it felt busy, with lots of traffic, night life, etc. Back alleys to access the home were narrow and dirty and I worried a bit about the parking. As it turned out, the only justified fear was the parking, which wouldn't have been an issue if we hadn't driven a full-size SUV (Suburban). Every night we struggled to get a parking spot on the other side of the peninsula (because our vehicle wouldn't fit in the garage and there is no parking in the alleys) at the "overnight" stalls near the Mission Bay aquatics Center, but the walk wasn't bad at all. Aside from the parking though, the unit itself was very good. The dining table and some of the furniture is showing some wear, but we had more than enough room for everyone to sleep, play, eat, and relax. And from our balcony we could see the beach and smell the fresh cinnamon rolls baking below us every morning :) (that was both good and bad!). All the appliances worked well, and the stocked dishes, cleaning supplies, etc, were adequate enough for our needs. There were fans in the closets, extra linens, plenty of towels, and comfortable beds. With the hide-a-bed and trundle bed, you could actually sleep 8 pretty comfortably if people were willing to share beds. Oh, and although we were close to the busy Mission Blvd, we never heard any noise when sleeping. The laundry facility was very convenient, and with two children under 4 yrs., a necessity! Walking to the beach daily was wonderful, and access to the main roads to get to places like Sea World, Legoland, and downtown San Diego was better than I expected. I spent three of our seven days at a work conference, and there was a public transit bus stop just outside our condo, making it extremely simple to get to my downtown office by Petco Park. Bottom line - I would recommend it! I thought about rating 4/5 for the parking situation, but the positives outweighed it too much! Thanks Nancy's!

Response from the manager Hi DBJR, Thank you so much for your detailed review! We will speak with the owner about upgrading some of the furniture and get that fixed right away. I wish we could fix the parking limitations, but can only offer other options if you are driving a large car. We are glad that the parking options we gave you worked out. We look forward to you staying with us again in the near future. -NVR Team

“Good Location”

Reviewed 9 Apr 2014

The place was in a good area but a little worn and dated. It was nice to have towels, bikes, shampoo and a bakery just below with other restaurants very walkable. It was clean but could use a few cosmetic updates. I was a little mislead that there were two bedrooms, certainly there were beds for 4-6 but only one actual room with a door to close which made it tricky with kids.

“Great Location but Spent one Night awake”

Reviewed 21 Feb 2014

great location, steps from the beach, shops and restaurants. staff was very friendly but didn't answer my calls at midnight when the unit next door (that they manage) had an alarm clock on full blast going off until 3 am waking up everyone in our unit and a 1 year old baby, which made for a very uncomfortable night. The staff followed up the next day and said sorry and came and turned off the alarm so it didn't go off again, but no compensation was given for our inconvenience.

“Great location”

Reviewed 21 Feb 2014

Overall we had a great stay at the apartment on Mission Beach. The unit is so close to the beach that it makes it very easy to explore the shore, the boardwalk and the Mission Beach neighborhood. We rented a minivan for the trip, however, and were not able to park in the garage that's part of the unit. We opted for the public parking that is about 3 blocks away and were able to find spots every night. Our only complaint was that during the first night the alarm clock in the neighboring unit went off for about 3 hours in the middle of the night (midnight to 3 a.m.). The unit - also a Nancy's Vacation Rental -- was empty which meant that no one was able to turn it off. Both my husband and I called the after-hours line for Nancy's Vacation rental but we didn't not receive a call back until the next morning. This was pretty frustrating. If an after-hours line exists we expect it to at least be answered. Otherwise what is the point?

“Home from Home”

Reviewed 13 Jan 2014

Spent 5 nights at this accommodation (3 adults). The equipment and facilities are more than adequate for dining in and relaxing. There was plenty of towels and toiletries which was much appreciated. The location is superb for the beach, literally 1 min walk. Very long promenade for leisurely walks (or jogging if energetic). Limited amount of restaurants for eating out in the evening, this may just have been the time of year, but plenty within a short drive or jump onto the local bus at the end of the road (No.8 - Old Town - Pacific Beach). We took advantage of using the bikes and had a lovely cycle along the promenade. Just a couple of points: No front access to property, entrance is at the rear. We were not sure which garbage bins to use, think we may have used the bakery's from below.

“Our first visit to San Diego”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2014

The condo nicely met the needs of four adults and one teenager. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and tools which made meal preparation very easy. The nearness to the beach was a big plus. The TV in the living room was a bit challenging until our tech literate son arrived. Instructions would be helpful. The trundle bed was not usable by our teenage grandson. The reclining chair in the living room was inoperable until adjustments were made. We appreciated the towels, paper products and hair dryer in the bathrooms. The grill was too dirty and rusty to be used. The first class bakery downstairs was a great amenity. We experienced noisy neighbors...ran TV all night, unruly behavior by children. When the taxi dropped us off at the front door it took us awhile to figure out that the entrance to the condo was from the ally in the back. We loved San Diego and its warm sunny weather over the Christmas holiday.

“10 Great Days in Pacific Beach”

Reviewed 22 Nov 2013

While not on the beach, only a block away with plenty of activities available. The Condo worked well for 4, a little tight for 5 or 6. Easy to tell of the age of the condo and the amenities, but workable. Choose to use the small BBQ on the patio instead of the larger on the front landing. The little BBQ needs work, rusted and both burners did not work well. Looked for a tire pump, as the tires on all the bikes needed some, could not locate one. Living room light was out, and was fixed after the weekend.

“Great Spot for Get Together or Family Trip”

Had a fantastic time at this location. Excellent access to all areas of San Diego and steps from the beach. Allows you to have the entire SD experience. Property was clean.
