“Very nice stay”
Nice appartment Nice view Excellent base for our family trip to California Excellent pre visit arrangemnts
Great location, quiet and very comfy bed. Lovely deck-heard waves early in am. Fun bikes. But, for a total of 277 dollars per night was disappointed. Musty smell when entering. Decor felt old and tired with the plastic plants, brown rugs, too much stuff. No place to put on make-up and bidet is not a good feature.
Response from the manager I'm sorry this person felt the decor was "old and tired." I guess everyone can judge from the up to date photos taken in February of 2015 if the decor suits their style and taste. We have 9 of these condos and some have more contemporary furniture instead of traditional. This one is decorated in the colors of the seashells that I found and cleaned myself from my South Pacific diving so it's a big part of my personality. No one else has ever said it smells musty and I do not smell any mustiness. Most people have the doors wide open to the beautiful bay all the time. Nancy
“Why doesn't everybody move here?”
Our first trip to San Diego and we had a superb vacation, and the Riviera Villas Condo added greatly to our experience. Location...view...cleanliness...security...supplies...and location again. We want to return next year for at least two weeks. Tom and Trishia
The Condo was beautiful and extremely well taken care of. It was so well stocked the only thing missing was food. The only down side was our upstairs neighbors were very heavy footed. The location was gorgeous and an ever changing landscape for people watching. The bicycles were a great touch as we did cycled everywhere, even to get groceries and go to then nearby shops and restaurants. The service by Nancy and her Team was fantastic. Right away from the initial booking up until granting us an early check-in the staff was extremely helpful and always there to answer any questions we had.
“Comfortable with beautiful view”
This condo was simple to reserve and I felt that it was easy to contact someone if questions needed answering. We arrived in the dark after a long journey and there was a rather complicated set of instructions with codes and keys for entry. Word to the wise, review them carefully before you get there! The setting is lovely, overlooking Sail Bay, It was a bit difficult to open the sliding blinds, but once done we had a terrific view awaiting us every morning. The place is well stocked with soap supplies and towels. The bed is very comfortable...my husband commented every morning how good his back felt. We used the cruiser bikes or took a.m. walks most days. Parking spaces are very tight in the garage. Best not to rent the largest car in the fleet. One night we were unable to get into our space, as the adjacent car was just over it's line. Although highly discourage, we took the risk of parking in another slot and left a note on the neighbor's car. The setting is mostly very quiet...tho' occasionally we could hear music from the condo above us. There is no aC or heating, which wasn't a problem for us during this time and it's probably not much of an issue with San Diego's cool evenings.
“Comfortable with view on Mission/Sail Bay”
Clean and well-maintained condo on Mission/Sail Bay in secure building with parking on ground level (large enough for our 7 passenger van). Glass door opens on balcony with stunning sunsets on the Bay (every night for the week we were there). Nice breeze for natural cooling of condo at night. Kitchen is well equipped. Nancy's Vacation Rentals answered all questions and concerns, and we appreciated the services and guarantees they offer (e.g. Peace of Mind Damage Waiver). They were professional in their services and offered options or alternatives as necessary. Check-in and check-out were smooth through the instructions they provided.
“A Great Place to Stay”
This was our fourth or fifth visit to Nancy's condo and it is as excellent as it ever was. The condo has every facility that a visitor might need and has very easy access to all that San Diego has to offer. It is well-furnished, comfortable and the views from the balcony (especially the sunsets) are breath-taking'. In addition, Nancy and her team provide good local insights and are always on hand to provide great help and advice. All in all, a really great place for a relaxing stay.
The rugs really need to go, they are a health hazard as they cannot be straightened out and we tripped over them more than once. Not thrilled with the outdoor seating, not comfortable. Otherwise the Murphy bed was great and kitchen was well equipped. Bicycles very adequate although could only find one basket and enjoyed the boogie boards and outdoor seats in the locker.
“replace the carpet and wash the doors”
We stayed in Nancy's unit. The location was perfect and I appreciated the available bikes. I rented the unit because it looked modern and updated, however, I was very disappointed with the dirty 1980's pink carpet. There were stains all over it and it smelled bad. There were also tear holes in the bedspread, which needs to be repaired or replaced. We also found the front door and bathroom door to be very sticky when touched. We were unable to close the blinds completely for darkness and privacy, therefore we had our 7 yr old sleep in the bedroom all week, while we slept on the murphy bed. The unit has a lot of potential -- it justs needs some more updating and cleaning, i did not feel comfortable there.
Response from the manager I must say, I'm shocked at this review. It's my very first 2 star review out of 61. 41 guests rated it with 5 stars, 17 with 4 stars and 2 gave it 3 stars. I know I will never be able to please everyone. Summer is a very difficult time to try to keep up with the abuse my lovely condo suffers when it's booked every single day by families of 3 or 4 with lots of children. I love sharing my condo with these families, especially with the nice young children's playground just 200 yards away. The two things I hear the most are "I don't want to leave!" and "I wish I could stay longer." I personally think it's the best location in San Diego. Let me address this guest's negative comments. I cleaned the carpet in early June right before the busy peak season and it's scheduled to be cleaned on August 27th. That's the best I can do. They came at the end of July. It is not 70s pink, it's salmon, the color you find inside conch shells (my condo is decorated in a seashell motif with seashell colors), and it's only 3 years old. I have been disappointed in it's ability to resist stains and will probably replace it this winter, but again, it's only 3 years old. As for updating the condo, I spent upwards of $40,000 in January of 2012 totally remodeling the entire kitchen and bathroom and built in a desk area. It's beautiful as anyone can see from the pictures and I get lots of compliments on it. I'm sorry the front and bathroom door felt sticky. I'll address that with the cleaners who usually do an excellent job but again, summer is difficult as the cleaning company has to hire 5 times their normal staff in temporary Saturday workers. I just replaced my lovely embroidered shell bedspread because the guests after these people were kind enough to call and tell me that it was torn on the underside rather than just writing it online for me to see a few weeks later. I picked it up immediately and replaced it the same day. How that happened, I don't have a clue but it broke my heart. I tried to chose a new one that would go with the lovely and expensive shell design pillows and artwork that were purchased to match that favorite bedspread. I usually advise people with children to put the kids in the back bedroom to sleep so they can enjoy the living room, the large flat screen TV and awesome view of the bay while their kids are sleeping. At night the colored lights across the bay and the moonlight are reflected in the still water. Paddle-wheel boats cruise by the balcony, all lit up. Early morning is my favorite time. The soft colors, pelicans sitting on the buoys, delicate looking white egrets poking their long beaks in the sand and the UCSD women's outrigger canoe teams cutting though the still-as-glass water with their perfectly in-sync strokes. It's magical. Who would not want to wake up to that rather than a dark bedroom. That incredible view is what I paid for and what my guests pay for. Enjoy it from the living room! The comfortable queen Murphy bed pulls down right next to the wall-to-wall glass doors and when you are laying on the bed, it seems that you are floating over the water. You can't even see the beach. It's not like they were sleeping on an uncomfortable sofa bed. It's a $3000 Murphy bed which I installed so my guests could enjoy everything I described above. I checked the blinds and while they are a little difficult to close, they do close all the way for those few who want to close them. Nancy
This condo is beautiful, the view is amazing, and it has anything you may need and more. I will be back soon.
