“A home away from home”
As a family of four (kids age 9 and 2) we enjoyed our stay at this cozy apartment. The kids loved our Felspar apartment and called it home soon enough. We enjoyed that everything was close: Sea World, the beach, downtown, ... It was perfect to have all the touristy stuff close and at the same time have the feeling of living there. Also, Nancy's team was extremly helpful whenever we had a question preparing for our visit. Thank you for offering us a sweet home for the time of our San Diego vacation.
“Great place, Great location, Great accomadations and service.”
We had a wonderful experience. Got into the place early to put our young kids for a nap on short notice, had great help in booking, and the place was immaculate. Location was wonderful, with 2 grocery stores within a block. Parking is a bit tough, but not impossible. Noise from a nearby bar was loud, but didn't affect sleep or enjoyment. Would do it again and hope to bring other friends and families so that we can all enjoy the location and place together. Thanks Nancy!
Response from the manager Hi Patrick, We want to thank you so much for your kind review! We enjoyed having you as a guest and cannot wait till you come back to San Diego and stay with us again! -NVR Team
Everything about the condo itself is great: although it's older and not elaborate, it's clean and has everything you'll need! It's well-maintained. Our daughter enjoyed the kids' videos provided! We also appreciated that a step-stool was put in the washroom for our daughter (without us asking) and that there was a stash of toys and books. We used public transportation to get around San Diego, and the bus stop is so close to the condo. Restaurants are practically in your backyard, as are grocery stores, so it is super convenient. As for the district, it is a busy, "trendy" district that perhaps is most suitable to young, single people. Both of us being close to 40 with a 3 year old daughter, found the noisy music from the people above us at close to midnight a bit annoying. The area itself (Pacific Beach) attracts a party crowd, so you should keep that in mind if you choose to stay here. If that's your thing, this would be a perfect location! The service from Nancy's Vacation Rentals was great. We arrived early and a simple phone call allowed us to check-in a bit early. So, overall, we had a good stay. The negative is definitely that the condo complex is not well sound-proof, so if the people in the upstairs unit choose to play loud music, you're going to hear it. We were in unit 1177. If you stay in unit 1173, it will probably be quieter, as nobody will be above you. Also, it's not really a family condo complex. While in San Diego, we especially enjoyed going to Sea World, Old Town, and walking along the beach (which is so close; you'll love the proximity!). One of our daughter's favorite restaurants was Yogurtland, just a couple of blocks away, where you can find the best frozen yogurt you'll have ever tasted! We also liked Joe's Crab Shack, which is located right on the beach and isn't too far at all.
“Great Location with a huge variety of restaurants in walking dis”
Very easy to rent and excellent check in protocols. Located within walking distance are dozens of restaurants along with a Sprouts and Trader Joes to assist with your grocery needs. There is a full supply of kitchen utensils and dishware, so no need to bring anything from your kitchen other than salt and pepper which were not present. It is an older complex, so you will feel and hear the sound of the hardwood floors creaking as you walk but it is a minor inconvenience. Overall, good value for the location and a designated garage for your vehicle is a real plus. The location is also a short ride to Sea World, Belmont amusement Park and the San Diego Zoo. You could actually not use your car for most of your stay.
“Complete, clean vacation rental”
All that was missing was some spoons. Everything we needed was included in the unit, including sheets, towels, beach chairs, cable tv, DVD player; you name it. The heat sensor was shutting the furnace down and NVR got a repair man out there New Year's Eve morning. The unit was close to the night life on Garnet, so it was a little noisy late at night, but it was tolerable. Walking distance to the beach, which we did at least once every day, and plenty of seating in the living room and kitchen. Very well equipped, with a locking garage. Very roomy and clean. I would stay there again, but my wife wants to be a little further from Garnet.
We had a great stay!! It was nicer than we had expected for the price. Definitely will be looking to stay here again. Close to the beach and lots of places to eat and hang out.
“Very, very nice just needs a few upgrades...”
The apartment was perfect. Location was great, space was great. Only thing that caught me by surprise was that there was no air conditioning and it sucked that all but one of the bicycles that are provided were broken! We literally had to repair 3 of the bikes ourselves and one would just not stay repaired. The chain kept falling off! It was really fun to repair these bikes with no tools in the house either. So my recommendations for this house that would make it perfect...get newer bikes or have the ones on site fixed, get a general tool box for the apartment in case of emergencies and put a small, portable swamp cooler in the apartment for those days that someone might be staying there and it just so happens to be sweltering outside (like it was when we were there, 107degrees with 80% humidity!). Other than those simple things, this house was great! Close to everything, super comfortable beds, great room sizes & perfectly cute lil courtyard.
“A place to sleep”
This rental is very close to all the college-aged action in Mission Bay. Everything is within walking or biking distance. One of the closest establishments in a hopping bar that is loud until 2ish. Luckily we brought earplugs so we could sleep. The home had everything necessary to cook meals including a new oven. We were able to relax after walking all day in the patio area. We were also able to utilize the washing machine for our kid's baseball uniforms during tournament play. We would return to this rental again but will definitely have to bring the ear plugs.
They were very accommodating and allowed us to stay for less than the minimum nights since we were in Ca for a wedding and just wanted to see San Diego as we were passing by. The location of the house was excellent. It's only a few blocks away from the beach. The restaurants and groceries stores were just steps away. The place isn't the fanciest but it was clean and everything we needed was provided. The information for check-in and check-out was super easy. A warning is that sometimes at night it gets a little loud from the partiers but we didn't mind at all. Don't be surprised but there were silverfish bugs in the bathroom which I am sure you can't avoid in Ca. We had a great time in San Diego and can't wait to come back. We definitely recommend Nancy's vacation rental to everyone we know.
“Nice, but small and noisy.”
First of all, Nancy's Vacation Rental's service was top notch. They were helpful throughout the entire process of renting the place. They answered every little question I had and were very friendly. That being said, the place was pretty small. The kids were there for the beach so they didn't complain about the smallness of the place. They spread out into the courtyard area when we ate so we wouldn't be so cramped. Being from Nebraska, we're used to having air conditioning, so luckily the weather was pretty cooperative and it wasn't extremely hot, but we did have to leave the windows open almost constantly, which was troublesome when the garbage trucks arrived at 6am and construction was going on somewhere nearby. Yes we were near shopping and activity, but that made it pretty noisy at night. Luckily there were fans in the place that could give us a little white noise to help cover it. Also they should get a new mattress for the hide a bed because every bar sticks up through. I had to sleep on just the couch. We loved being walking distance to the beach, and went every day. The kids loved the closeness of the shops and did a lot of shopping. I'm not used to cooking on a gas stove, so that was challenging, especially when baking things took way longer than I expected. It was not too comfortable getting things out of the oven with the one hot pad that was provided. Also, our unit didn't have a dishwasher, so clean up took a long time. Cups and glasses were stored upright when we got there - so that invites bugs to climb inside. I found a silverfish inside one of the cups and so did the girls. They should really be stored upside down. The TV was difficult to run. I finally gave up. There were 3 remotes and I didn't know which one went to what piece of equipment. The remotes should really be labeled and there should be instructions on running the equipment. All in all, we had a great time, and the things about the apartment were minor when all told. It's San Diego!
