“Nice house and enjoyable stay for the most part.”

Reviewed 1 Oct 2014

August 2014 we spent 2 weeks vacationing in Siren's song. ***The positives for our family of 4 were: Colorful, fun themed rooms that looked nice Normal sized dining room chairs and big table Beds were comfortable. Lines were provided Ample food pantry storage Plenty of dinnerware A good vacuum 1st floor Electric stove worked well Air conditioning was excellent (FYI the vents are all in the floors) Netflix was great (dvd was not hooked up though) The upper deck provided heavy lounge chaises, a hammock, great view and privacy The large lower deck had heavy lounge chaises, as well as a nice table for eating outside (chairs were a bit uncomfortable for us though) Sliding doors on top deck were convenient and in good working order. Lots of stairs provided lots of exercise! The front garden was lovely. ***The Negatives for Us were: We arrived around 6pm and had to wait as the cleaning people were making the beds. The house was not cleaned well. 1st floor bathroom had a vent so caked up with dust it made it so loud that it was a nuisance. The walls were covered in dust from the fan. I literally had to wipe the wall down. I dropped a tiny shell and inadvertently saw the filth under the stove and had to clean it my self. It had not been touched as there was an old pizza pan under there caked with food and dust. The spiral staircase...very narrow and over all, awkward. A note was left asking guest to use the stairs outside to bring luggage to the second floor. More awkward was the laundry facilities being on the second floor. Laundry baskets were to big to comfortably or safely go up the spiral staircase. The 1st floor kitchen was decently stocked , however most of the nonstick pans were pretty beat up and we felt, not safe to cook with. The dishwasher did not wash well. Unfortunately, this house has an ongoing ant problem. (ant spray under the sink and dead ants left on the wall above the back splash. Ants were coming in from the gaps in between the kitchen window and the backs plash. The realty maintenance came very quick when we called but the ants did come back. (We know it's par for the course) (We'll take ants over water bugs!) The bathrooms functioned but were not great. The showers were all inserts and had no where to put your items other the soap. The 1st floor formica vanity top was coming away from the wall and falling apart. The bathrooms needed updating. The lack of lighting was disappointing. We were surprised at how dark the house was. The lighting was very poor on the first level. There were a number of deck boards that were loose or in need of being screwed down. The sliding door on the ocean facing 1st floor bedroom was hard to open and the lock was broken.(Piece of wood was used to secure it) The 2nd floor was used by our eldest adult child. The kitchen was very old and was not utilized, as everything we needed was on the 1st floor. The dunes were much higher then shown in the pictures. That was a problem, as we rented this house for the pictured view. If you hate Mosquitoes, just know they were prevalent with these type of dunes. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would likely not rent this property again.

Response from the manager Thank you for your review of your stay with us. I am sorry to hear of the items you encountered during your time at Siren's Song, and I appreciate you alerting our maintenance department so they could work to remedy these things. I hope you will come again!

“Relaxing and peaceful time at the beach”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2013

This was our first time at Siren's Song and we really enjoyed it. We've been coming to Emerald Isle since the mid 60s and would definitely rent Siren's Song again. The house was clean, well maintained, up to date, and it is obviously well loved by the owners. Our only recommendations would be to have better reading lamps with stronger bulbs in the bedrooms, a sitting area at the end of the dune deck, and a tea pot. Otherwise, I would recommend this place to friends and family. Anyone staying here will be very comfortable and relaxed.

“Excellently-appointed, fun cottage.”

Reviewed 14 Sep 2013

We have rented from Emerald Isle Realty for 23 years and, while we have always enjoyed our stay, this cottage was the best equipped, most whimsically decorated to date. The front garden is beautiful and the colorful plants on the decks add a nice touch. The owner has paid attention to every detail. We would definitely rent this cottage again.

“The perfect beach house”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2013

After many years and many houses we have finally found the perfect one. My husband joked that I better say bad things about the house here or we're going to have a hard time reserving it next year and we want to keep it our secret! But I can't tell a lie. This house is the best. The location is further down the island than we've stayed in the past but that didn't bother us. The house is very well stocked with everything you could possibly need, and had good quality cooking materials too. There is also plenty of seating on the two decks, with rocking chairs, chaise lounges, and a picnic table with umbrella. The house itself is so much fun. A visual feast. And with 2 little girls the mermaid theme was perfect. My favorite part of the house was the deck. Sitting in the rocking chairs every night listening to the ocean and feeling the breeze was about as close to heaven as it gets. We can't wait to go back.

“Siren's Song was a colorful relaxing comfortable experience!!”

Siren's Song was a great stay for my family, and would recommend it to anyone needing space. It was newly remodeled and very colorful, the landscaping was great and the area very peaceful and quiet.

Response from the manager Thank you for your review of your stay at Siren's Song. It pleases me to know that you enjoyed the recent refurbishment and work that went into landscaping the grounds of this property. I hope you will come again soon. We were certainly glad to have you!

“Mermaid Palace!”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2012

We stayed in Siren's Song in 2010 and again in 2012. The area is nice (convenient to stores and restaurants) and the house is 'fun' with a great view of the ocean. It's time for some general maintenance (screen doors, hammock, washers/dryers)..., but it's still a neat house!

Response from the manager Thank you for your review of your stay at SIren's Song. I have forwarded your comments on to the owner and I know they'll be happy to hear that you enjoyed a second vacation in their lovely Oceanfront cottage. Your suggestions are much appreciated as well. Please call us when you begin making plans for your next Emerald Isle vacation - 1-888-832-0140.

“The definition of a relaxing vacation.”

Reviewed 1 Aug 2012

Stay #5 was even better than the first. The only complaint is that we had to leave after a week. This house is great especially when taking a family vacation for 3 families. 6 adults and 3 children. The living area upstairs was a perfect get-away for the grandparents to have a break from the grandkids. The colors, design and interior decorating of the house reminds you daily you are on vacation. Both kitchens are well stocked. The washer and dryer made it so we could pack light, keep the washing up and not have to go home and wash. plenty of room. dinning at the bar for breakfast, the large dinning table. plenty of sitting room for nightly movies for the kids. The outside covered hot/cold shower is the best for kids. I can not put into words how great this house is. No it is not without usual wear and tear that comes with any property but it is overall well maintained. we will continue to stay here as long as it is available or until we outgrow it so far as sleeping arrangements.

Response from the manager Thank you for your review of your stay at Siren's Song. It pleases me to know that you and your family enjoy revisiting this home in Emerald Isle each year. I agree, the one week in beautiful Emerald Isle just isn't enough. We are already reserving homes for 2013 so call us to book your week so you can begin your countdown to your next Emerald Isle vacation - 1-888-832-0140.

“Wonderful time with family, friends & mermaids”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2011

We have been coming to Emerald Isle for several years and have stayed in many different houses. It seemed that the other houses never quite had everything we wanted. Until we stayed in the Siren's Song. This is now "our house". We love the decor. You have to be happy here. It is clean, well maintained and well stocked. The garden is beautiful. A perfect photo spot. It is obvious that the homeowner loves her home and her special talent for decorating makes everyone feel welcome and at home. We plan to come back again and again.

“New Year at the Beach”

Reviewed 12 Jan 2011

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Siren's Song. The property is in a location that allows you to bike ride to the Red Oak or to Flip Flops. We grilled out two nights and enjoyed our time watching the waves and walking on the beach. The dolphins were swimming every morning and afternoon. It was nice to have a kitchen on both levels and we enjoyed watching the fireworks on New Year's day morning. My family and I counted 209 mermaids in and around the house. We look forward to another trip and stay at Siren's Song soon.
