Description

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION : A property that everyone dreams about; south facing with sun all day and panoramic views across the olive groves and mountains with a mountain back drop behind the property. The lake and town of Iznajar is just 10 minutes down the road from the property. The property has been professionally renovated and tastefully decorated and is furnished to a very high standard throughout by its owners whom are retired interior designers from the UK. Land size is 1,545 m2 and is surrounded by walls and decorative railings plus two entrances to the property via tarmac road. The house sits in the middle of the land size and the built size of the house is 337 m2 plus terraces but only 200 m2 of the house is rented out to guests.

THE AREA : Iznajar and its surrounding villages of which Los Juncares is one them is one of the most beautiful areas of southern Spain and is only a 1 hour drive north of Malaga international airport and on your journey from Malaga you will pass the town of Antequera which has the most monuments and churches in Andalusia as well as a great Tuesday outdoor market and this is one town that you should visit during your stay.

The town of Iznajar with its ancient castle, churches, shops, bars and restaurants also an indoor sport center complete with full gym of which you can use during your stay and is very reasonable priced. The lake offers water sports as you can rent a canoe, kayak or a pedalo. There is also angling, camping and bars/restaurants on a beach area. Excellent shopping facilities in Rute, which is a 15 minute drive which is were we do most of our own shopping and the Mercadona supermarket where you can purchase all your food and drink, it also has a great fish and meat section. Rute being famous for its hams, chocolates and liqueurs, their museums and factories are worth a visit as you can sample the products and purchase at the factory prices. 15 minutes on from Rute you have the town of Lucena this town is known for its furniture manufacturing and the factories surround the main town center. Lucena also has a great outdoor markets which are on a Wednesday and Sunday and is worth a visit especially if you are looking for bargains in clothes and shoes and there is an excellent restaurant that we visit a lot usually on the market day and can highly recommend for their choice of food and table service specially from their menue del dia which is from Monday to Friday. Antequera is a 40 minutes drive from Iznajar known for its architecture, shopping mall, hypermarkets. Antequera and Lucena both have a Lidl and Aldi supermarket as well as Carrefours hypermarket in Lucena . Antequera also has an excellent 18 hole golf course if you fancy a round or two.

We are centrally based for visiting the cities of Cordoba which is just over a 1 hour 15 minutes drive and the city offers excellent shopping and site seeing such as the roman bridge, cathedral and the Jewish quarter etc. The city of Granada again travel time about the same as Cordoba with its famous Alhambra Palace and Gardens. We advise you to book your tickets online for the Alhambra in advance especially in the summer months as they only allow so many in each day. Seville is about 2 hours drive. There is also just the other side of the city of Cordoba an Aqua Park and reports from past guests that have visited the park is that they have really enjoyed themselves whilst there.

If you fancy a day relaxing down on the coast it takes just over 1 hour to get to the beach that we use when we go down there called La Colina which is part of the municipality of Torremolinos Costa del Sol. There are some really beautiful beaches along the costa and if you want the kids to have some fun then you can take them to the Aqua Park or Tivilo World in Benalmadena which has rides, shows and other events and is open from 11.00 am every day to late plus there are other attractions down there also.

*Coming back to the Iznajar area which is an area of outstanding beauty and peaceful there are plenty of things to do but people come to this area just to relax and to use it as a base to explore other areas of which I can give you more information when you arrive for your holiday.

Getting around

If you like WALKING or like to BIKE you can visit the Via Verde La Subbetica and is about a 30 minutes drive from hte property and is what was the former route of the olive trains. The route can take you through scenery that you would not see by car and along the way you can stop off for a drink or a bite to eat at many of the converted railway stations. At the station of Dona Mencia you can hire bikes for the day so you don't need to worry about bringing your own and rates are very good. The Via Verde in the south part of Cordoba is 58 Kms and also there are other routes free of traffic that we know of. We ride these routes every other week when we can and always enjoy ourselves. If you want further information please contact me.

Interaction with guest

*Pamela and I will be available during your stay as we reside in another part of the property which is private and has its own entrances separate to guests. I will be cleaning the swimming pool daily, early mornings usually before guests get up in the mornings so that you can enjoy the pool through out the day without having to worry if the water is clean, this is something that many private rentals do not offer. Also we are on hand to give you any advice on where to eat out and travel tips on visits to cities like Cordoba, Granada, Seville and Malaga as well as local places to visit and shop. We wish for you to enjoy your holiday with us and we will try to be invisible during your stay but on hand if any problems arise whilst you are here

“Best pool ever”

Reviewed 14 Aug 2016

Beautiful villa with a large pool kept immaculately clean by Tom the owner. Surrounded by olive groves and lots of outside space and seating areas. Lake is about 10 mins drive and there is plenty of parking at the beach and a nice little cafe for drinks after swimming. If you fancy a day trip, Cordoba and Granada are only an hour away by easy motorway. Coast is about the same but we did not do that as it was a bit too hot while we were there. Lovely fortnight away with our three teenagers. It was a blessing that wifi only worked in one area of the villa (the indoor courtyard area) so it meant we could even keep tabs on how much time was being wasted on screens!
