“Great view for second row house”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2013

House was exactly what the pictures portrayed. Quiet area, great beach access. Outdoor shower very nice. Nice access to decks from both levels. Parking adequate. Furnishings adequate.

“Sea Scan”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2013

I liked the house alot. Great ocean view and access. We did have a problem with mice and bugs there.

“Had a great time at Sea Scan!”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2013

We picked Sea Scan based on the pictures that were posted and the views that were promised. And the house did not disappoint. The house sits perched upon a hill, providing wonderful views of the ocean. The cable railings provide an unobstructed view while seated. And from the bottom of the steps, it's only 20 paces to the beach; no need to take a cooler to the beach. And the home is in a narrow section of the island, so it's like having your own private beach. Contrary to other reviews, we found there was ample parking. I did, however, miss my grill. The home has a very small charcoal grill. But that's the only negative. We'll rent again!

“Great week”

Reviewed 19 Jun 2013

We all had a great week. Weather was a little tough due to tropical storm andrea but overall was a great experience. The house was perfect and in a great location. The only thing keeping me from rating it a 5 was the parking. We couldn't bring our boat down because there was no place to park it and it was tight getting in for the cars.

Response from the manager I'm so happy to hear that you and your family enjoyed your vacation with us, though I'm sorry you weren't able to enjoy boating during your stay. While this is a lovely place, we do manage a large selection of properties and I'm sure we could find a property that would have ample parking so you could bring your boat. “nice perch at the beach”

Reviewed 29 Mar 2013

I rented Sea Scan for a week in July in 2011 and 2012. It is across from a great section of Emerald Isle's beaches. The porches of this second row house, perched high above the street, provide good views and a sense of privacy. As long as everyone staying in the house can climb stairs, Sea Scape is a good base to spend a week at the beach.

Response from the manager Thank you for sharing your vacation experience with us. I agree, the decks and porches of this home are set to maximize your views and enjoyment of the island. I'm happy this was your experience. Please call us when you begin making plans for your next Emerald Isle vacation and we'll happily reserve Sea Scan for you again - 1-888-832-0140.

“Had a great time!”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2011

Only complaint with the house was that the living room furniture was very uncomfortable. Great location.

Response from the manager Updated response: The owners of this home have replaced the cushions of the chair seats with higher quality "ultra foam" and hope that their guests will be comfortable and enjoy a great Emerald Isle vacation at Sea Scan. Original response - August 24, 2011 Thank you for your review of your stay at Sea Scan. It pleases me to know that you and your family enjoyed a great time in Emerald Isle. I'm sorry you felt the living room furniture was uncomfortable. I have forwarded your feedback on to the owner of this home. Thank you again for providing us with your review. Please call us when you're ready to begin planning your next trip to Emerald Isle - 1-888-832-0140.

“A week with friends, the beach, and good times.”

Reviewed 15 Jun 2011

I loved the value of this place! For the money, it was really nice. To get a 2nd row house with 4 bedrooms and just over 1,000 dollars for a week it was an amazing value. The only things I noticed that were troublesome were the weeds and the parking situation. First off, the garage is not a place you can park. I think the owners keep their things there. You also share a driveway with the house next door. Because the house is on a high hill, it is very hard to park and get out of. You end up having only 3 parking spaces unless you decide to get creative ;). The biggest issue we really had was the poison ivy and poison oak that surrounded the place. The house is very high up, so the weeds that cover the ground underneath are not a problem, until you get down off the steps to go to the beach...you dodge poison ivy and oak the whole way to the street. There was also a broken board on the steps that looked wobbly. Overall though, those were just minor things. I would definitely suggest this house to anyone on a budget with 6 or more people.

Response from the manager Update: The owners have added a boardwalk at the bottom of the stairs in front of the house for easier access. Update - November 4, 2011: The owner of this home has asked me to let you know that what you thought to be poison ivy/oak is actually a plant indigenous to our area and isn't poisonous at all. He often cuts this back so it isn't cumbersome for guests. Original response - June 17, 2011: Thank you for your review of your stay at Sea Scan. I'm pleased to know that you and your group enjoyed your time at this house. I have notified our maintenance department about the poison ivy/oak which you mentioned. Someone will be going down to investigate this. Thank you again for your review. I hope you'll revisit Emerald Isle and choose Emerald Isle Realty when booking your vacation home.

“Miller Stay at Sea Scan 08/2010”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2010

We have stayed at this particular house many times and have always been very satisfied. It is in a perfect location for us. We normally go late in august so it is not crowded at all. There were recent improvements to the house, mainly the lower deck. We had a great vacation.

“Good Time by far !!!”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2010

Very nice, we enjoyed everthing. But a couple of bugs in the house, could of been picked up before we arrived. However, we understand the time crunch between rentals. But overall a awesome time was had by everyone and very nice owner matched the fun we had...

“Upsetting”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2010

We loved the house when we arrived. For the price the Sea Scan was perfect. It was a quaint home nothing fancy but perfect for us. Within 24 hours it turned into a diaster. First we had no hot water at all, the fridge did not seem cold and we had ants around one window. I called Emerald Isle Realty they were quick to get all these issues resolved. Everything was fine again and then we noticed the ceiling leaking in the kitchen, it was a small drip, I called Emerald Isle Realty again, this time the response was not quite as prompt and the little leak turned into a 4 foot leak with bulging parts of the ceiling. We had to keep pots all over the floor to catch the brown water that was dripping from the ceiling. Emerald Isle Realty ended up moving us to a beauitful home that was a huge upgrade. Even though the new home they moved us to was awesome, the Sea Scan was the better location with the better view. So, bottom line I liked the Sea Scan but the owner needs to keep up on upgrades and maintenance. People who rent are on vacation and don't want to deal with one problem after another and then the inconvenience of moving to another rental home.

Response from the manager Thank you for providing your review of your stay at Sea Scan. I’m very sorry that you encountered the issues which you did at Sea Scan but I’m happy we were able to move you, and even upgrade you, to All Tide Up. I want to let you know that the issues at Sea Scan are being remedied. The air handler was the cause of the leak you experienced. Thank you for being so prompt in reporting this. It doesn’t take long for water to damage a home extensively so you really helped us in getting this matter taken care of quickly and efficiently. If you do decide to return to Sea Scan, you’ll find that the sheetrock has been replaced. The issue you experienced with ants has been reported to housekeeping. Ants and other common pests are prevalent in our area due to the dense vegetation but all of our vacation homes are sprayed regularly to prevent infestation. Perhaps Sea Scan needs some extra attention. I’m happy you enjoyed your stay at All Tide Up. I understand it was further back from the Ocean than Sea Scan but hope that the pool and other amenities made up for that.
