Outdated and overpriced. I did wait to the last minute to book something but this house needs some help. Upon arrival the covered deck had beer cans under it, the house had a funky smell and floors were dirty. The worst is the water, the sulfur smell!!! I could go on but lesson learned!
Response from the manager Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you arrived to Barefoot In Paradise West ahead of our housekeeping department. While check in is at 4 p.m., our housekeeping teams work until 6 p.m. or later to ensure proper cleaning is done at each of our rental homes. Should you be dissatisfied with the cleanliness of a home after it has been cleaned, we will gladly send another cleaning crew to touch it up. I am happy that we were able to accommodate your last minute booking, and I hope you enjoyed Emerald Isle. We look forward to your next visit.
We rented both east and west to accommodate are family needs. I felt that the east side was more child friendly then the west. I was probably influenced by the lady who came by and had stated that the west side is where the owner stays and the furniture is brand new. (The price tag was left on one of the family room end tables.) Both sides were well equipped, very comfortable and nicely decorated. The washer/dryer combo was a little small for our needs but it was nice to have them. I would suggest though that the lint catcher be vacumed or something between stays as both sides could have been potential fire hazards from the build up in them. The view from walk-way was awesome as we were treated several times to the dolphins swimming by. We all like to sit outside in the evenings listening to the waves and unwind from the days activities . Unfortunately the east side had a infestation of something that looked like a giant cockroach which sent everybody scattering when they came out in the evening. Both sides were equipped with gas grills which was nice as we like to cook outside, east side grill was on the deck but the west side grill was underneath in the carport which made a lot of walking up and down stairs. All and all we had an enjoyable time at this rental.
Response from the manager Thank you for your review of your stay at Barefoot in Paradise East and West. It pleases me to know that you and your family enjoyed your time in this duplex and I hope you will return. How exciting that you got to see dolphins on a few occasions during your vacation. That is one site that always thrills, no matter how often you see it. As for the bugs which you described, it sounds like they were palmetto bugs. Due to the humid climate and dense vegetation of our island, an array of insects are prevalent. Our vacation homes are treated to keep such pests at bay and being that you saw them outside on the deck, I'm happy to say that it would seem as though this treatment is working and there is no infestation. Thank you again for your feedback. Please call us when you begin making plans for your next family vacation and we'll happily reserve Barefoot in Paradise East and West for you again - 1-888-832-0140.
“Barefoot is not a good idea”
Nice place but the second day we were there my wife tore a flap of skin off the ball of her foot down to the muscle on a screw that was protruding from a bad board. Needless to say Urgent Care was closed that day and she had to wait for the next day for a tetanus shot. Lost a day and could not go in the water for 24 hours and could not walk on the beach since her foot was so sore. Took a lot of the fun out of the week.
Response from the manager Thank you for your review of your stay at Barefoot in Paradise West. I am so sorry to hear of the injury your wife received and I hope that she has since recovered. Upon meeting with you in our office, management did request that the deck and boardwalk of this home be inspected and remedied to prevent similar occurrences. We hope you and your family will return to Emerald Isle and allow Emerald Isle Realty another opportunity to serve as your host. Please call us when you begin making plans for your next vacation - 1-888-832-0140.
“Who wouldn't love looking for dolphins play in the water while s”
I hope to stay again! It doesn't get any better. Eir maintenance was available at ease, the home owner is fantastic, and my family loved coming to stay with me!

Comfortable, very good part of the beach, furnishings are very good. Not suitable for those who have difficulty climbing stairs. Entrance is up an outside stairs. We would not hesitate to stay here once again.
“My experience was soothing!”
I was a long term renter at Barefoot in Paradise, staying from October of 2010-May 2011. The house was comfortable, well stocked, awesome location, and great views. I had a positive experience with EIR and Barefoot in Paradise. The name describes it well.
“Bright and quirky, just right for our family”
We stayed at Bip-west for a month. The decor is really cute--whimsically painted, right and cheerful. The four bedrooms are a bit small, but adequate, considering we didn't spend much time in them. The gazebo atop the dunes is a nice place to sit, and the beach is great. There are plenty of dishes, pans, pillows and blankets. The house could use a few upgrades, though. The stacked washer/dryer is small and operates only one mode at a time, which slows down doing more than one load of laundry. The dishwasher works but is really loud and runs forever. There isn't a lot of storage space--one small pantry and no place in the living room-dining room to put your stuff except on top of the end tables or coffee table. The brochure said we would have a picnic table on the deck, but it was missing. There are a lot of stairs to get from the driveway to the house, which may be a problem for some people. There were a couple minor repairs (broken kitchen drawer front, loose towel bar) that were promptly addressed by Emerald Isle Realty. But these criticisms are minor. All in all we really liked the house.
Response from the manager Thank you for your review. I'm happy you enjoyed your stay at Barefoot In Paradise West. I'm thrilled to know that the issues you reported were promptly resolved. I have forwarded your comments on to the owner as well as our maintenance department so the dishwasher and washer/dryer can be checked out and also to see about that picnic table. Thank you again for taking your time to provide us with feedback. I hope you'll vacation with Emerald Isle Realty again.
“Beautiful & Impeccable Beach House!”
This house is absolutely wonderful - adorable decor & amazing oceanfront view to wake up to every day! Could use a gas grill on the deck, but otherwise perfect in every way! I cannot say enough about working with Emerald Isle Realty -- they are courteous, kind, and always have smiles on their faces when you go in the office even to check your mail!
“barefoot in paradise West”
Our family of 4 adults spent the month of December at Barefoot in Paradise. One of the best features was that would could bring our cat along. The front of the house (living room/kitchen) had windows across the whole front facing the ocean, and large window on the side, also with a beautiful view. We enjoyed the whimsical decor and bright colors--made us feel very "beachy" even if it was December. We found everything we needed in the kitchen, and the bedrooms were all comfortable, but smaller than some we have stayed in.
“Everyting was great”
The house was light, roomy and well-furnished. The only downside was that there weren't that many pots in the kitchen - lots of lids, but not pots.
