“Very special Family time”

Reviewed 12 Jan 2014

First my Family thinks Very Quitely; when inside, Enjoy The privacy and The amenities.

Response from the manager We are happy to hear that your family shared a very special time away. That is what its all about. There can be no price put on the time that is shared with the ones you love and the ones your cherish. We are happy that our Gold Rush family could be a part of that. Thank you for allowing us the pleasure of helping your family find the perfect cabin for your stay. We also appreciate your kind review. We will share with our team as they work tirelessly to prepare things just so they can hear guests appreciative comments. Warmest Wishes, The team at Gold Rush

“Roomy and comfortable”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2013

Two families stayed here for a weekend and found the cabin, clean, roomy and comfortable. Pleanty of room to stretch out and relax. Large deck was nice for adults to gather in the evenings. Close to lake too.

Response from the manager Thank you for taking your time to submit a review on the Gold Rush. This cabin has been favored by many guests who return year after year because of the many amenities it offers and its close proximity to the lake. We are happy to have had the pleasure of having you stay with us and hope to see you in the future. Kindest Regards, The Team at Gold Rush Resort Rentals

“Great layout to the home and the kids had a blast.”

Reviewed 21 Mar 2013

Rental office was great. House was well equipped. We had so much fun sledding at the house, and the game room was great- we put the kids down there and the adults could hang out in peace upstairs.

“horrible, do not go here”

Reviewed 19 Dec 2012

the company will screw you over with fines! do not sign any contracts with them. they really screwed us over. the cabin is not as big as it looks either.

Response from the manager The Gold Rush Resort Rental Company is here to look after our guests and owners. Most of our guests have found our practices to be extremely embracing, responsible, and helpful to their wishes and needs. The majority of them appreciate the extra diligence we put into place in order to keep our standards high. Our owners appreciate our protocols to help guard and protect their investments. Owners who graciously put their home in our trust and care do so expecting renting guests to respect their property. Our business and city license require following specific rules that the city has set forth. We support our efforts for renting guests and owners in many ways. As you know, we make it very clear in all our documents that we will not tolerate any city code violations as well as any illegal activity on the property, especially with minors involved. Our contract clearly states exactly what our procedures and protocol are pertaining to such issues. By signing the contract, you were made aware of these protocols just as all of our renting guests. In addition, you were given a gentle reminder to a variety of things to help with your stay (this was one of them) at the time of check-in. Unfortunately, in your case, you did not take your responsibility to the contractual agreement you signed seriously and chose to act in a manner that violates our contract on MANY levels as well as the city code and other legal issues. As you know, the city personnel from the code compliance department was on site in addition to our personnel to verify and confirm your violations. If you wish, you may acquire the city report directly from the City of Big Bear Lake. We are very proud and will not apologize for our procedures we have adopted pertaining to property protection procedures. We also take our commitment to the City code violations seriously and will not undermine our ability to have a license for such. There are no exceptions! It is a disappointment to have such a review falsely representing our company in this distasteful manner. Although we try, we know we cannot make everyone happy. However, for guests who want to come up, enjoy our beautiful mountain, while staying in a well kept home with a company that is here to help them have a great stay , we are here and waiting . For those looking to abuse the home, violate the city codes, or do illegal activity we are definitely NOT the company to stay with. Respectfully Submitted by, The Team at Gold Rush Resort Rentals

“A cozy cabin that's family friendly -- not couples friendly”

Reviewed 13 Dec 2012

First of all, the pictures are deceiving. This place is not as big as the pictures make it out to be. There is only one true couples-friendly room: the only one with a king. There are two other rooms that have queens in them but they have bunks on top of them and are meant to have somebody else sleep there. It's a nice cabin with a pool table and outdoor jacuzzi, but the quarters are tight and there is no great room of any kind. A good place if you want to have more of a camp like experience with a bunch of your friends or with another family.

Response from the manager We feel poorly that you felt the photos posted on the website are deceiving. That is certainly not our intention in anyway. We feel the photos posted for guests to review, show each room as they actually appear. We strive to ensure our guests have an accurate accounting of the beds within the rooms as well as which level within the home they can be found on if the home has more than one level. We want to help our guests browse freely and feel comfortable with the choices they make. Please go back on our website and review the detailed photos as well as detailed description states accurately about the bedrooms with the custom log beds with Queen on bottom and twin on top. When sleeping over 10, it is not uncommon to have multiple beds within bedrooms. When discussing needs with guests, depending upon the privacy needed, in your case, we could've accommodated your group with two homes to give you more privacy. This home is located right in the middle of two other homes we have on the program which makes it convenient for even larger groups or more privacy for one. However, renting more than one home just for extra privacy can be more expensive which for many guests, these days, makes it an affordability issue. We do look forward to welcoming you back to Big Bear and hope you will choose to stay with us again. Next time, when choosing a home, please make sure you speak about your concern for privacy for each couple. We can accommodate your needs, it will just take renting more than one home. Thank you for sharing. :-) The Gold Rush Team

“Wish We Didn't Have to Leave”

Reviewed 25 Apr 2012

We had an absolutely amazing time at Gold Rush! From the very beginning, the staff was always there to answer my many questions about renting a cabin since I had never done it before. But the process was painless and check-in was pretty easy, though we did get a little lost trying to find their after hours location (but I blame that on my GPS). Once we stepped through the doors of the cabin though, it didn't even matter. The place immediately felt like home, or like a rustic cabin (taxidermied deer and raccoons and squirrels galore). Definitely enough space for our group, and the two levels made it easy for people to do what they wanted. It was great being able to sit on the deck and take in the sun and view of the lake. Only downside I would say is that there weren't enough utensils for our whole group (only about 9 forks and there were 12 of us), so maybe the kitchen could be a little better equipped. But that's pretty much the only bad thing I can think of. Me and my friends are definitely going to try to make this trip to Gold Rush a semi-annual affair!

Response from the manager We are happy to hear you had a wonderful time. Our team works on their personal best to assure our guests that their comforts are a focus of ours. As you've experienced, we want to make sure you know we are thankful that you chose Gold Rush for your stay. Gold Rush the cabin has been a favorite of many guests who have stayed with us over the years. We are happy to have this cabin in our inventory and hope to have it for many years to come. We will re-check the utensil inventory as you have mentioned here that there weren't enough forks. We are sorry for this, we do watch for these things but must have missed this by mistake. We would've welcomed a call from you so that we could make sure you were not inconvenienced. We hope to welcome you and your group soon. Don't forget to look on the website at our specials page under the heading, "Golden Specials - Strike it Lucky" - we are always posting something to help guest with a more affordable stay! Thank you for reviewing your stay, we appreciate your time spent reviewing as well as your choosing Gold Rush for your stay. Happy Travels, The Gold Rush Team

“all the comforts of home”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2011

We rented this cabin for my 50th birthday celebration. Family and friends stayed with us. The sleeping arrangements were perfect for our group. I asked ahead of time what I needed to bring from home so there were no surprises. If I had to find something that I was unhappy with it was that we did not know how to turn the lights off that lit the driveway. They were shinning in the master bedroom throughtout the night.

Response from the manager We're glad you had a great birthday celebration! We're sorry you had a problem with the outdoor light. As far as we are aware, the owner has it set for motion detection which it should only go on when guests are walking up the entry way so that they have a lit pathway. We wish you had let us know while you were there so that it could be adjusted for your convenience. Thank you for sharing. Sincerely, The Gold Rush Team

“Birthday cabin rental”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2011

Rented this cabin with 15 other campers for a weekend in Big bear. Sleeps 15 comfortably, hot tub is big and gets very hot, kitchen is stocked well with utensils, 4 cars can easily park. Close to slopes and the village. Downside, it snowed like crazy the first night there, and there is only one shovel on property. So it took all of us to dig out our cars with our hands. We also walked to neighbors houses to borrow shovels. The rental company said that they had people who would come and help dig out our cars if it did snow. I left them 2 messages that day and no response. But, up until our stay, customer service was excellent. The people in the office there are really helpful and nice. I'm hoping that the only reason they never got back to me about the snow is because they were also snowed in and couldn't get to the office? I would stay here again! (and maybe bring some shovels)

Response from the manager We were glad to hear you were happy with the Gold Rush Cabin. Yes, you were right, we got so much snow that the office did not open that one Saturday. We are sorry if that caused any inconvenience. Just an FYI, we are opened 7 days a week, except on Christmas day, however, the Saturday of your stay with the amount of snow fall we had it was necessary for the office to remain closed. As you could see, the city and Cal Trans had their hands full with the amount of snow that had fallen in that short of time. I'm surprised you didn't speak of this the next day at check-out?? Also, we don't want you to think that the home did not have the necessary items to help your situation. It is standard in Big Bear for each home to provide one snow shovel . We definitely see your point when trying to shovel multiple cars. We will pass the suggestion on to "all" of our owners to consider having a second shovel. We hope this clears any misunderstandings. We look forward to extending hospitality in the future. Warmest Regards, The Gold Rush Team

The accomodations were terrific, as well as the staff at Affordable Accomodations. It was a memorable experience for all of us mother and daughters. Best camp experience we have had to date! We got fresh snow that weekend as a bonus! The snow play hills were a hit with our daughters, as well as the Ms. Pacman game and pool tables.
