“We had to leave... it photographs far above it's reality - like”

Reviewed 20 Jan 2014

I apologize for the lateness of this review, but I only just saw it was "reviewable" with photos. We arrived on a warm summer day in July and met by a very polite lady. As we walked up the very hollow sounding staircase covered in indoor-outdoor carpet the temperature began to rise. When we opened the door to the suite it was like a blast furnace. Yes, London was having a heat spell. We asked if there were any fans in the apartment. No. We don't have a/C at home so we're adaptable. As long as a window can be opened. Well, once the double windows were cracked open the street noise was unbearable (just meters from Piccadilly circus) Then there is the vibration and fumes from buses. Oh and the Underground which shakes the building!! And... the hallway is really noisy with tenants thumping up & down at all hours of the night. My photos show the real condition of the apartment. Why we even stayed one night stayed I don't know. I should've left then and there. The night experience was even worse. My wife didn't want to leave the inner window open for fear of ants and bugs (see ant traps everywhere). Every bed is equipped with what I would call "camp" mattresses. The skinny, springy type you find in bad pullout sofa beds. Painful. So after a sleepless, boiling hot night we aborted. Not knowing if any credit/refund would be given for our pre-paid five nights (it wasn't), we just had to vacate. Finding a hotel in with two rooms in the busiest weeks of the year in London was no fun. We ended up at the Waldorf. Yike$$$ We even had a lawyer plead our case upon our return but the owner was not interested in the slightest. I believe the us management company cared, but it was a brick wall when it came to the owner. That's why I'm writing this. Do not stay here. Maybe reduced bookings will convince him to address the issues mentioned. And trust me - search up my trip-advisor reviews under "ianpeean" - You'll see I'm a fair reviewer. This was an awful experience.

Response from the manager Dear Ian, Thank you for taking the time to communicate to us why the property did not meet your expectations . I have been in contact with the owner of the property so that we can evaluate how we can prevent this problem from occurring again in the future. ON THIS FLAT. we have rented it successfully and this is the first complaint ,which does not invalidate your claim but will help us to make it an even better rental. My understanding is that the main issue was that the AC , howeve you did not ask for air conditioning. But you ask for it when you arrived so I can understand your dissapointment. But we do not advertise it with AC. . This flat right is in the heart of Covent Garden. The toilet seat and the internet were checked the next morning. This is our first complaint for this apt. I am not saying your complaints are not valid but we could have and did repair all of the problems. Please accept our sincerest apology for any trouble or inconvenience we have caused you. Again, we highly appreciate your feedback as it will assist us in becoming better at what we do. As with any business like ours, the greatest advertising we can have is word of mouth from a satisfied customer . It's my goal to retain you as a satisfied customer and will hope to serve you again in the future. Thank you. LGS

“Location, location”

This apartment is comfortable and well-equipped but the key positive is its position near Picadilly Circus, and I do mean near. From the front window you can sight the lights of Picadilly. This place is a bus and underground hub and it is easy to go anywhere in London from close to your apartment. Yes there is a little noise on weekends from the crowds but we were relatively unaffected by this. Couple of flights of stairs on entry but not too arduous. Recommended. Only negative - too few chairs for 6 adult persons but there were 2 bar stools in the kitchen with which we made do.
