Very Good

“Good value and location”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2014

The condo was well-kept and very convenient to Blowing Rock. It was very efficiently laid out. The folks from Jenkins Realtors were very nice to work with. The only feedback I would offer is to have some blankets available in the wintertime. The bed spread was very heavy and warm so it was either too hot with it on or too cold with it off. Other than that small thing everything was great.

“Great stay in a nice condo”

Reviewed 7 Feb 2014

My family and I visited Blowing Rock for Winterfest and were pleased with the Royal Oak condo. It is conveniently located in downtown Blowing Rock which means that everything is within walking distance. It was cold during our stay so it was very nice to have a cozy condo with a fireplace and kitchen for making hot cocoa!

“Delightful condo!”

Reviewed 14 Nov 2013

We've been enjoying Blowing Rock every mid-October for 22 years, and have been with Jenkins Realty just as long. Having rented both condos and homes from them, I want to tell everyone reading this that Royal Oak #216 is our favorite! We love to be close enough to downtown BR to walk; I run to, and around, Bass Lake; we stroll to our favorite restaurants, and return home to #216 to plunk down in a lovely condo and relax with a glass of wine and a movie. The furnishings for 216 --the entire atmosphere-- are really pleasing, way nicer than the usual non-descript, bland, blah furnishings in so many rentals. The price is reasonable, too. Our only criticism is that 216 doesn't offer Internet. We hope that will be rectified in the future but, all in all, that wouldn't prevent us from renting this lovely condo once again. It is a pleasure to work with Jenkins; see you in Oct. '14!

“Great trip, terrible beds.”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2012

Your service was very good and your employees were nice and easy to deal with. We were happy with the location as we could walk to town and to eat. the layout and size were fine for the 4 of us but the beds were terrible. I read that in another review and didn't pay any attention but believe me, I will make sure I ask about beds before renting anything again. Three nights of terrible sleep. And with all the extra stuff that needs to be added to the cost, it ended up costing over $200 per night so be prepared for additional charges that add up fast. Enjoy our trip but very disappointed with the condo.

Response from the manager Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. I reviewed your survey from your stay and it appears that these issues were brought to our attention after you departed the property. We would have been happy to have either rectified the problem or moved you to another home. I personally went and laid on each bed, I’m not sure what about them you found uncomfortable, they are fairly new pillow top mattresses. I also reviewed the previous comments and saw no mention of this being a prior issue. If you’re in the area again please give us another try to allow us help you find a home that may be better suited to your needs.

We had no hot water the first night. We called the emergency number and no one could come out until the next morning. We discovered the next morning the breaker had been cut off so we solved the problem ourselves. We could not get the gas logs to work. We had no problem lighting the pilot, but could not get the flames to come up. We reported the incident, but no one ever came to fix the problem. There were no instructions in the unit to tell how to operate the logs. Addtionally, we tried the thermostat on the wall next to the fireplace and it did nothing to help. I feel the required $300.00 security deposit is too much. It can take up to 30 days to receive the deposit back.

Response from the manager Thank you for taking the time to leave your comment. We do strive to make sure all appliances and amenities are in working order before you arrive. On occasion a breaker will flip, when it was checked by housekeeping, there was hot water. There are directions in the unit on how to operate gas logs, located on the refrigerator. Unfortunately not all units are exactly the same, and we try to write in more property specific information. I did check the fireplace and it was in working order, it simply needed to be turned to the on position, on the fireplace, and then adjusted by the thermostat on the wall. The security deposit is optional to the $45 accidental damage insurance, and you have the choice to do one or the other. It can be returned earlier, which it was, but it only shows up on our report once per month. If you’re in the area again please give Royal Oaks 216 another try.
